Warwick Excited By Cool Passion’s Ascot Debut Posted on January 6, 2016 | Posted by Julio Santarelli Cool Passion can further validate trainer Justin Warwick’s high opinion of her when she travels to the city for the first time in the Perth Racing Facebook Handicap (1200m) at Ascot on Wednesday. Warwick is highly optimistic he has found a mare who is destined for a bright future after she posted an eye-catching maiden win over 1200m at Bunbury on December 20. In an impressive victory the daughter of More Than Ready dashed clear to win by 3 ½ lengths, backing up from her debut second at the same track nine days earlier. Cool Passion, drawn perfectly in barrier four for Lucy Warwick, has not been missed by punters and is currently an even money favourite with the TAB. Warwick is excited by what lays ahead for Cool Passion. “She is up there with some of the better horses I’ve had,” Warwick said on TABradio. “I really like her and she is going to win more than she is going to lose. “She is big, strong and has a high cruising speed. “She has ability and plenty of it, I love her. “I wished I had more like her in the stables.” Meanwhile Warwick opted against a trial for Vain Rippa who resumes in the Perth Racing Instagram Handicap (1200m). The son of Kendel Star steps out for his first appearance after running fifth to Special Delivery at Belmont in September. Vain Rippa won once only last campaign but showed good signs by finishing no further back than fifth in nine starts. Warwick says the gelding, who can produce a withering finish to his races, is displaying signs of improvement. He expects the five-year-old, on the third line of betting behind Ominous Warning and Travellin, to perform first-up. “I wouldn’t be putting him in if he wasn’t forward enough,” Warwick said. “He is the type of horse I’ve avoided going to the trials. “The 1200m might be a little slick, but he is ready to run a race. “He does seem to be growing up and maturing into a pretty good horse. “I think his best year is about to begin.”
