Matt Young’s Monday Pinjarra Preview Posted on August 31, 2026August 31, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 MRIYA DREAM (5) is at his pet distance and should charge forward and look for the top in this, suited in this class too and should be hard to catch. ULTIMATE TESS (10) has been racing in top form for Dean Chandler and looks a strong chance again, will look dangerous in the final 400m. LAVRADORE (3) will be bouncing out looking for the top, showed good speed when winning on debut for the new stable but bumps into a very quick beginner here, should be handy enough. ELISH STAR (2) always a novelty chance with SKY LINDY (4) who showed something in trials but hard to get a decent gauge in the two runs to date. JUSTLIKEFLAIR (8) will be running on but needs a bit of luck from the draw. Tips: 5 10 3 8 Suggested Bet: MRIYA DREAM (5) to win. Race 2 GRUMPEE (6) is the Trotters Cup winner from earlier this year and appears better suited to the standing start, he beat MAJESTIC GA GA (9) with a 30m handicap difference first up and they meet again with a 20m difference between them, the margin wasn’t great and I think they’ll fight it out again but I have a general leaning to GRUMPEE (6) due to him being a few runs into the preparation and on the bigger track, good battle again. MYSTERY FRED (8) must not be forgotten, he was held up at a vital point in that race and has brilliant closing speed, looks a danger. QUIGGLEY (5) returns and the ban still stands that I can’t tip him, but he needs a few things to go his way and being first up is a concern against these smart types. Tips: 6 9 8 5 Suggested Bet: GRUMPEE (6) to win. Race 3 Open race. SWEET GRINS (1) has improved in the trials, has options from the draw and should run a decent race in this open affair, MISS AURA (2) is third up into the preparation and looks better suited to improve in this. ALLWOOD DEAL MAKER (4) faces a tricky draw but is improving with every run and hit the line well last time out, stablemate ACKNOWLEDGEMENT (6) has been a noted improver and must be respected from the tricky draw. PANNA COTTA (7) has shown promise but looks to be a work in progress. FORTITUDE PHIL (8) is improving with every run and drawn to get a soft trip throughout. If you like something, don’t be afraid to follow your gut here, tough. Tips: 4 7 8 6 Suggested Bet: ALLWOOD DEAL MAKER (4) each way Race 4 DEFEND THE RIGHT (7) continues to improve every time of racing but faces a tough draw, not a deep race but will still need a touch of luck, hoping for a decent price and happy to play with continual upside. NELLYS WORLD (6) has decent early speed and looks a chance to cross here, races a lot better when on speed and she is a major player. TORREVEAN ENVY ME (8) better suited in this grade and on the rail, chance with even luck. ALVAREZ (3) has shown promise but is really mixing his form, early speed a bit hit and miss also. PORT TO PLEASE (10) and UNKNOWN (11) capable from tricky draws but as mentioned, it’s an open race. Tips: 7 6 8 3 Suggested Bet: DEFEND THE RIGHT (7) each way. Race 5 MY TRUE COLOURS (1) has the draw and speed to lead, looks a potential put in take out job for punters but at what price, likely to open short enough but looks her race. IDEAL TITAN (6) trialled well and looks to have ability, tricky draw but respect along with WINTER SURGE (5) who is also a horse with ability who returns with a tricky draw. ROMAN GUARD (2) is a horse who can mix form but is a novelty chance with HIGH TIMES (10) and the newcomer in CALZAGHE (12). Tips: 1 6 5 10 Suggested Bet: MY TRUE COLOURS (1) to win. Race 6 MY LITTLE BIG MAN (1) looks a noted improver in this from the draw; he races well on speed and has options from the draw. BLUE BLAZER (8) is also ideally drawn, loves the rail and will get the last look at them. CALL TO ARMS (9) will dive down to the marker pegs and is racing well, he is another who is suited by the draw. SWITCH BLADE (3) will race close to the speed and is a novelty chance, could win if he could lead but that’s not the most common scenario and other chances to MAJOR OVERS (4) and TOMMY PRICE (6) who is wonderfully consistent. Tips: 1 8 9 3 Suggested Bet: BLUE BLAZER (8) each way. Race 7 Plenty of early speed in this which could suit the back line runners. STAPLETON (8) loves this trip and will likely be three back the pegs and with even luck can win, needs to be an each way price to play as he needs a few things to go his way. MARGIMAC (1) is up in grade but has the speed to sit on the preferred runner of choice. MINOR CATASTROPHE (3) drops in grade and is a quick beginner, she hasn’t been at her best but is zippy so the distance suits. AKABAH (4) is still learning the caper and will head forward, he’s got good pace, big chance if he could lead. STIRUP IRON JACK (5) will head forward and may have to breeze, winning chance if he can lead. DEE JAYS BIG BOY (6) could be three wide the trip here, loves this distance but won’t be an easy task to success. HOOAH (9) follows out a moderate beginner and ALTA KING (10) was decent first up but needs luck. Tips: 8 4 9 10 Suggested Bet: STAPLETON (8) each way. Race 8 PAROQUET (1) looks ideally drawn, she loves to race on speed and will be coming out to look for the top, very hard to beat if she leads, she is a mustering type so it could invite a few to have a look early but it’s not the quickest front line. DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (8) drawn ideally and thought he was just okay last time out but will be very dangerous late in running in this. FROM TIGERLAND (7) is racing in good form, developing toughness and that increases his versatility and think he will play a part. Novelty chances to FOLLOW ROCKNROLL (5), PUSHBUTTON ROCK (10) and HEAVY METAL HAMMER (11). Tips: 1 8 7 5 Suggested Bet: DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (8) each way. Race 9 Open race to finish, I liked the run of IM DRINKINDOUBLES (5) who did the work in his return run last week, think he will bounce off that well and can settle handy to them and run a big race here, happy to play each way. WICKED WINDERMERE (7) is a perennial bridesmaid at this point and Gary Hall Jnr might have to carry him across the line. HEAVENLY BLISS (3) will look to lead and hold this week; she will give them something to catch. SONIC SEELSTER (4) is always around the mark and has good early speed. MAJOR DALTON (2) will get a good run throughout and can feature in the money. Tips: 5 7 3 2 Suggested Bet: IM DRINKINDOUBLES (5) each way. Market Market
