Warren Huntly’s Thursday Flemington Preview Posted on November 8, 2023November 8, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 ARABIAN SUMMER gave a great sight only to be run down by a smart one on debut. She looks suited staying at 1000m and should give a sight again. TESSA’S CHOICE has jumped out behind HAYASUGI and CHOSEN LEGEND. All three went well with Tessa’s Choice appearing to have plenty to offer without being tested. ENEEZA worked through the line strongly in a recent jumpout. HARPALEE looked sharp in keen to run winning her latest jumpout. Selections: 3,9,7,1 Suggested Bet: Too much to learn Race 2 FEARLESS WRITER has returned in good form and gives the impression she’ll cope with 1700m. BRAZEN LADY is another that has to prove herself at this trip but is racing well and went to the line untested last start. MATRIARCH ROSE has been excellent in her three runs for the stable and is s another that shapes as though 1700m will be ok. TACUMWAH displayed good race sense to win her maiden on debut, she obviously rises in grade but should be improved by the outing. CITY OF LIGHTS and STARIANNE have a case. Selections: 2,4,7,12 Suggested Bet: Fearless Writer each way Race 3 SHE’S A CON has jumped out strongly over 1200m since her last run and is a winner at this trip in NZ. KETTLE HILL needs a win here but he continues to race consistently and may be looking for 2000m now. TOMMY is building a handy record in Australia and has been kept up to the mark with a jumpout between runs. HOOPS won an easier race in good style at her latest run. Selections: 17,7,10,11 Suggested Bet: She’s a Con each way Race 4 CLIMBING STAR was scratched from a wide draw on Cup Day to be reserved for this. She ran second in this race last year and the form around her is strong. ROOTS won this race last year and should be close to her peak third up. FOXY FRIDA drops in grade backing up from the Empire Rose and there doesn’t appear to be a tearaway leader here. CHANDON BURJ may be looking for further but will be strong late. Selections: 6,1,2,3 Suggested Bet: Climbing Star each way Race 5 NAJEM SUHAIL went hard here over 1200m last Saturday and under the circumstances ran very well. If he paces himself better back to 1000m he should prove hard to catch again. CANNONBAL has been trialling impressively to resume following hid UK trip and can stalk the speed. SPACEWALK did a mighty job to chase and reel in Najem Suhail last Saturday and is right in the game if he’s sharp enough for the drop back to 1000m. Selections: 10,2,6,1 Suggested Bet: Najem Suhail each way Race 6 Competitive race, as you’d expect for a final of a series. EUPHORIC impressed winning his heat of the series at Geelong. He should strip fitter and the step up to 1600m suits. VON HAUKE comes through the same race and if he gains a start he has strong claims. He got keen in the run there and a cross-over nose band goes on. ROGUE ROCKER must have a case through the same race. MAGNUPUR has come a long way in a short time and gives the impression he’ll run 1600m out strongly. LADY JONES won the heat that Magnupur comes through and will strip fitter. DASHING, PICAROON and POISON CHALICE are among the other hopes. Selections: 2,17,15,12 Suggested Bet: Euphoric each way Race 7 SALTAIRE was only beaten by the bob of the head at Moonee Valley and was stuck back on the inside of the pack down the straight at her previous run. MUMBIA MUSE sprinted well when she got clear last start. She is drawn to have clear air and will be strong late at 1100m. CIGAR FLICK has a good record at this trip and had excuses after bumping with Archo Nacho last time. HEART OF GLASS impressed winning on debut in fast time. SHESALLSHENANIGANS won well over this trip three starts back and has been freshened. EXCESS and AVIATRESS have some claims. Selections: 3,4,9,16 Suggested Bet: Saltaire each way Race 8 ZARDOZI chased bravely in the Wakeful. She has a touch of class and gives the impression 2500m will be ok. BASILINNA hit the line strongly over 2000m at Caulfield and shapes as through she will relish the longer trip. AETHELFLAED was another to chase strongly in the Wakeful and staying looks her caper. WINGS OF SONG comes through a low profile race but her previous form puts her in the game. Selections: 2,7,8,9 Suggested Bet: Zardozi to win Race 9 GREGOLIMO was luckless at his first Australian start and backed that up with a solid performance in Group 3 company over 2000m behind the same horse last start. Doubt dropping back to 1800m will be an issue and he looks the one to beat. HOLYMANZ shapes as a danger approaching peak fitness and giving the impression this trip will be ok. GLENTANEOUS has been kept fresh since an encouraging return and has jumped out nicely between runs. PREMISE gets blinkers on, she drops in grade and should appreciate the rise in distance third up. Selections: 4,8,12,6 Suggested Bet: Gregolimo to win Market Market
