Warren Huntly’s Sunday Sandown Preview Posted on September 23, 2022September 23, 2022 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Competitive mares race with a number of different form lines coming together. SAVONIA was well backed to hold off PICARONES, who gets blinkers back on, last start. They both hit this race third up. CAP DE JOIE has been impressive since joining the Nick Ryan stable. She has been given a quiet time in a jumpout between runs. EVENTUALLY has jumped out well to resume and the form around her is good for this. MADREAN has upside and has jumped out ok to resume. ARKTIKA is hard to asses, her best on race day is clearly good enough but she can mix her form and her jumpouts haven’t been any real guide. MADAME DU GAST was given a solid hit out winning a recent trial. Selections: 13,4,5,3 Suggested Bet: Picarones each way Race 2 CHARTES strikes a suitable race third up and dropping in grade. GLORY BOUND has solid NZ form and has jumped out well for the new stable. BEEHUNTER should be suited by what appears to be a strong tempo. PASCERO has been racing without muck luck of late, he gets blinkers first time but has an awkward draw to contend with. FIELD OF ROSES who is flying for the new stable and SANDY PRINCE are in the mix. MR EXCLUSIVE generally runs well fresh. Selections: 12,16,2,13 Suggested Bet: Chartres each way Race 3 GLOBAL GIFT may have over done the mid race slow down last time. With Williams on I’d expect him to run along on speed. POUNDING won well last start, he might need some luck from the draw but there looks reasonable speed up front. Barrier one might not be ideal for GROOVY KINDA LOVE but she has a good second up record and has been back to the jumpouts between runs. AESOP was good first up, he might be looking for further but is in the mix if he makes the field . CERBERUS has been ok for the new stable of late and his best is good enough. SIR LAMORAK has some solid overseas form, any late market moves should be worth noting. Selections: 4,5,12,18 Suggested Bet: Global Gift each way Race 4 SEBONACK had no luck at Moonee Valley second up, he’s unknown beyond 1200m but gives the impression he will cope. ELLIPTICAL ran well first up behind Berkeley Square is sure to strip fitter. BANK MAUR ran well behind a smart filly first up and looks suited at 1400m. THE FORTUNE TELLER has talent, he did a few things wrong last start and get blinkers on. MURAMASA, who gets blinkers added, along with ANGY SKIES, both won their maidens in impressive fashion last start. Selections: 1,4,7,11 Suggested Bet: Sebonack each way and working multiples around 1 & 4 Race 5 LUCKY DECISION rises in grade, but the form around him is holding up well and he gets right down in the weights after the claim. GLINT OF HOPE is a Group 1 winner, she ran well first up in strong mares company and looks well placed second up. BERMADEZ had excuses covering ground first up and drops in grade. ADELAIDE ACE ran well at his first run for Shane Jackson and may settle closer from a favourable draw. THOUGHT OF THAT can be hard to catch but has jumped out well between runs. Selections: 16,5,8,14 Suggested Bet: Lucky Decision each way Race 6 WALTZ ON BY had been competitive at stakes prior to breaking her maiden at BM64 grade last start. She had no luck in the Quezette the start prior. REVOLUTIONARY MISS may need some luck from the draw but she had the pattern against her last start and gets blinkers on. Her stablemate RUSSIAN CONQUEST had excuses first up. TYPHOON TITMUS charged home after having no luck at a crcials stage last start. ANAHITA hit the line well behind Waltz On By following her impressive debut victory. DESIAH and PORTRAY have claims. Selections: 4,2,1,8 Suggested Bet: Waltz On By each way Race 7 Likely to be a tactical affair with ALLIGATOR BLOOD and ZAAKI controlling the tempo. For that reason, I have a slight leaning to Zaaki who may have a tactical advantage over I’M THUNDERSTUCK and MR BRIGHTSIDE when the sprint goes on. Zaaki has a great in this distance range and boasts an impressive second up record, which should also hold him in good stead in what promises to be an enthralling race. Selections: 1,2,4,3 Suggested Bet: Zaaki to win Race 8 PINSTRIPED resumed with an eye catching performance over 1400m at Flemington and looks well placed stepping up to 1500m second up. GENTLEMAN ROY was beaten by a promising galloper after riding the speed first up and will strip fitter. DRAGON LEAP measured up well to Group 1 level last start. He will strip fitter third up and appreciate the drop in grade. AGE OF CHIVALRY hit the line well first up for the new stable, he has a good second up record and is suited by the rise in trip. MILITARY expert is racing in great form and will make his own luck. Selections: 11,12,5,6 Suggested Bet: Pinstriped to win Race 9 I WISH I WIN created a big impression winning his first Australian start and looks a start on the rise, doubt dropping back 100m should pose any serious problem. AYRTON has trialled well to resume and looks the main danger. OPEN MINDED was no match for I Wish I Win last start but will make his own luck and strip fitter third up. REGARDSMAREE is effective first up and has jumped out nicely. GRAVINA did enough first up and should get a nice run from an inside draw. CATALYST had a bit against him first up off a long break and could improve significantly. Selections: 4,1,6,5 Suggested Bet: I Wish I Win to win Market Market
