Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on March 3, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Plenty to learn but debutantes ILLATIVE and MASSIRA have been jumping out impressively. PRINCESS DUHALLOW has plenty of speed and might be suited coming back to 1000m. BUTCH CASSIDY has blinkers on for the debut and has trialled well in NSW. Selections: 10,4,7,3 Suggested Bet: Happy to look and learn Race 2 TIMOUR caught the eye behind Nobel Heights last start and looks suited stepping up to 2500m. SO UNUSUAL is racing in great form and displaying strong staying qualities, the form through his latest win held up well in Adelaide last week. GLENTANEOUS has been steadily improving and chased well behind So Unusual last time. YOUTH SPIRIT is still on the up and brings some solid Sydney form. Selections: 5,4,7,3 Suggested Bet: Timour to win Race 3 KALLOS resumes gelded, he’s a talented sprinter who has trialled in typically good fashion. ON THE LEAD is racing in great form, he’s been back to Sydney for a tick over trial between runs. MAMARAGAN is going well for the new stable and was ok down the straight in the Coolmore as a 3yo. TYCOON HUMMA won well first up and is better suited on firmer ground. Selections: 2,3,6,8 Suggested Bet: Kallos to win Race 4 WILD BELLE is building a good record in WA and is capable of running fast times. WINNERTAKESITALL has a good first up record and has jumped out well to resume. LITTLE MIIS KUBI appreciated the drop back to 1000m at her latest run and looks capable of measuring up in a stronger race. OJAI and WAVERIDER BUOY come through the same race and both have claims. Selections: 4,5,9,3 Suggested Bet: Wild Belle to win Race 5 IMA SHELBY is deep into his preparation but continues to race in great form and should secure a good run just behind the speed. MUNHAMEK is also deep into his campaign but hasn’t had much luck at his last two starts and is holding his form. QUEEN AIR worked home well second up and should appreciate 1600m. KETTLE HILL is proving a bit frustrating but he didn’t have much luck last start and may improve back to Melbourne with a tongue tie on. WORTHILY is right in it on his best form. Selections: 7,4,10,8 Suggested Bet: Ima Shelby each way Race 6 Incredibly tough race with plenty of winning hopes. RUNNING BY has real upside, she’ll be better over a bit further but has been jumping out in great style. OPAL RIDGE has trialled impressively to resume, her form lines through Zougotcha, Economics and Pericles read well. NANAGUI is already a stakes winner down the straight and she has jumped out nicely. BENEDETTA has been impressive in her career to date and has jumped out well with Giga Kick between runs. INSURRECTION and BRUDENELL bring strong form credentials and I could easily have missed the winner! Selections: 19,15,16,18 Suggested Bet: Running By each way Race 7 JACQUINOT is yet to prove himself at 1600m but his closing efforts over 1400m provide strong support for him to be able to run the trip out. His effort at Group 1 WFA las start, along with his Golden Rose win and good run in The Everest, make him the one to beat. ELLIPTICAL was first up when winning a key lead up race and should strip fitter. ATTRITION looked unlucky behind Elliptical but had a race fitness advantage. Not hard to mount a case that LEGARTO should be undefeated in NZ, she has trialled well since her luckless run last time. Selections: 1,2,14,15 Suggested Bet: Jacquinot to win Race 8 GENTLEMAN ROY is likely to roll forward and control the speed, he was first past the post at Group 1 WFA last start looks the one to beat. TUVALU has been back to the jumpouts between runs, he gets blinkers off and should appreciate the step up to 1600m. UNCLY BRYN ran well without much luck first up and will be charging late. POUNDING is fit and flying and has tactical versatility. Selections: 4,1,7,6 Suggested Bet: Gentleman Roy to win Race 9 D’JUMBUCK is flying and appears to find a suitable race to add another Flemington straight victory to his record. PINSTRIPED has jumped out well to resume and brings a strong first up record. FLORESCENT STAR goes well down the straight course and received significant interference in the home straight first up. LIFE LESSONS came a long way last preparation and will have residual fitness. SESSIONS ROAD was solid behind D’Jumbuck last start. Selections: 7,1,8,10 Suggested Bet: D’Jumbuck to win Market Market
