Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on March 8, 2024March 8, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Competitive start with some promising gallopers resuming. AKICITA looks to have a bright future and has been jumping out in great style without being fully tested. GUMDROPS is already a stakes winner and has also been jumping out impressively to resume, as has her stablemate HEDGED, who was on the heels of the placegetters behind Veight in the McNeil last prep. HANCHI and LOST have some claims. Selections: 8,3,4,2 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples with 8,3 & 4 Race 2 YOUNG WERTHER seems to appreciate having his runs spaced. He looks suited getting back to Flemington and stepping up to 1800m. BERKELEY SQUARE needs another win but backs up from a typically sound run last week and should also appreciate the step up un distance. NORMANDY BRIDGE can pull out a run frst up and has been trialling well. FAWKNER PARK is building a handy record as a middle distance/stayer and is another that will relish the rise in trip. BERMADEZ if racing consistently and may be better suited dropping back to 1800m. Selections: 2,5,6,7 Suggested Bet: Young Werther to win Race 3 SCULLY measured up well to the rise in grade in a key lead up race last time and gives the impression he will appreciate 1400m. SCHEELITE had little luck in the same race and ran well in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude and his only try at this trip. VIVY AIR and VIBRANT SUN both have upside and have been jumping out well to resume at a suitable distance. LEGACIES covered some additional ground in the same race as Scully and Scheelite and will strip fitter. Selections: 2,1,5,13 Suggested Bet: Scully each way Same Race Multi: Scully (Top 2) + Scheelite (Top 4) Race 4 RUE DE ROYALE was very good in the Blue Diamond after being forced to make a wide run and may settle closer from a low draw. AARDVARK faces the challenge of stepping up to 1400m second up but has jumped out well between runs and worked thrpugh the line strongly over 1100m first up. STAY FOCUSED fought on strongly after working on speed in the Blue Diamond and will prove hard to run down. TRAFFIC WARDEN probably has to go back from the wide draw but performed creditably under similar circumstances in the Blue Diamond. Selections: 1,4,2,3 Suggested Bet: Rue De Royale each way Race 5 Fascinating race. IMPERATRIZ has to concede weight to the entire field but she’s certainly earned it and weight is only one piece of the puzzle. I’m inclined to side with her overall talent, will to win and record down the straight to see her rise to the challenge. SGHIRRIPA is also proven down the straight, he was out of play early in the Oakleigh Plate but was still one of the runs of the race. MAGIC TIME is a quality mare who has been trialling well to target this race first up. BUENOS NOCHES gets blinkers first time, he was close up behind Imperatriz in the spring over this course and distance at WFA so must have a case. CYLINDER was no match for Imperatriz in the Lightning but looks dangerous with only 51.5 kg stepping up to 1200m. Selections: 1,12,6,3 Suggested Bet: Imperatriz to win Race 6 Good race for the fillies. MOLLYNICKERS chased determinedly first up. She should settle closer from a better draw and appears suited stepping up to 1600m. The same could be said for her stablemate AUTUMN ANGEL, who is already a winner at 2000m. GRINZINGER BELLE rode a solid speed to defeat Mollynickers first up and will also strip fitter. SERASANA covered ground first up, she’s another that will strip fitter second up and is suited by the set weights conditions. SO GLAMOROUS comes through a key lead up race and gives the impression she’ll be suited at 1600m now. Selections: 6,5,4,1 Suggested Bet: Mollynickers to win Race 7 AMENABLE resumes gelded with blinkers off, he’s been competitive at Group 1 level and has looked sharp in his recent jumpouts. BERKSHIRE SHADOW is a fascinating runner, he brings elite UK Group 1 form and his trials/jumpouts have been encouraging. SAVANNAH CLOUD may lack the class of a couple of others but he has a race fitness advantage and can make his own luck. VON HAUKE jumps to 1400m second up and isn’t well treated under the weight scale but has genuine upside. Selections: 3,1,4,10 Suggested Bet: Amenable to win Race 8 FOXY FRIDA has two from three over this course and distance and did more than enough first up. ETERNAL FLAME has had excuses at her last two and crossed the line with Foxy Friday in one of those runs two starts back. RUNNING BY is fit, consistent and beat Eternal Flame home last start, albeit with a better run in transit. UNUSAUAL CULTURE RUMBLED AGAIN and BELLE SAVOIR have some claims. Selections: 1,10,5,3 Suggested Bet: Foxy Frida each way Market Market
