Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on May 2, 2024May 2, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 DUTY BOUND (2) has finished 2nd at his last two starts but looks the leader and gets a great chance to go one better tonight. BEE JAYS BOY (4) was an impressive winner three starts back but has struggled from wide draws at his subsequent starts. He should enjoy a nice run from this barrier and looks a major player. WALL STREET GIRL (1) is almost certain to be crossed at the start but will be charging home if she sees daylight at the right time. THOMSON BAY (11) continues to race well and will be running on. Tips: 2 4 1 11 Suggested Bet: DUTY BOUND (2) to win. Race 2 FRANCO ECUADOR (1) disappointed here last week but is drawn to lead tonight and is capable of bouncing back. LUSAKA (5) broke through for a well-deserved win here last week and his times indicate that he can challenge the favourite. VANDERBILT (2) is undefeated from five mobile starts and looks the other winning chance. ARMA XFACTOR (3) has been unplaced at his past three starts but his last effort had merit and he shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 1 5 2 3 Suggested Bet: LUSAKA (5) each way. Race 3 ROCKANDROLLARTIST (5) has impressed in using his good gate speed and he is ready for the rise in class. ONESMARTFELLA (1) doesn’t have the class of some of his rivals but he has options from the pole and looks a great each-way chance. ROCKMYSTER (7) is first-up without a trial and is drawn awkwardly but is too good to overlook. JOEY JAMES (10) sat behind the leader when a 1.53.8 winner here last week and can figure at odds again. FASTER THAN DAD (11) disappointed first-up but can improve sharply. Tips: 5 1 7 10 Suggested Bet: ONESMARTFELLA (1) each way. Race 4 AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (5) was ultra-impressive at her Australian debut when defeating Steno is 1.54.6 over the 2536m journey and is clearly the one to beat tonight. ACHARNE GIRL (10) defeated a weaker field here last week and should be in the finish if she sees daylight at the right time. LET IT LINGA (1) led when 2nd to ACHARNE GIRL (10) in that event and has options from the pole tonight. NULLABOR NAVAJO (11) has the second best form in the event and will be charging home. Tips: 5 10 1 11 Suggested Bet: AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (5) to win. Race 5 MISTER SMARTEE (7) hasn’t been extended in winning his three starts this time in and the stable indicates he is clearly the best of their three chances. SKYLORD (1) has been battling bad draws and should give a great sight from the pole tonight. ALCOPONY (4) has poor numerical form but he has been taking on the state’s best pacers and can surprise at odds. SKYLOU (5) was a gallant 2nd at his last start and can make his presence felt again. Tips: 7 1 4 5 Suggested Bet: ALCOPONY (4) each way. Race 6 STEEL THE SHOW (1) led throughout to defeat a weaker field here last week and should lead and prove hard to beat again. JUMPINGJACKMAC (2) found the front when a gallant 2nd in the Nullabor last week and is the obvious danger. TO FAST TO SERIOUS (3) ran on well to finish 2nd to STEEL THE SHOW (1) last week and is the blowout chance if the two favourites go to war. WHILE THEY PRAY (5) is the next best. Tips: 1 2 3 5 Suggested Bet: STEEL THE SHOW (1) to win. Race 7 CARANA (10) followed a good first-up 3rd in strong company with a Pinjarra victory and is clearly the one to beat against this line-up. MY LITTLE BIG MAN (1) had no luck last start but can give a sight if he jumps well based on his previous two efforts. JILL MACH (2) has been placed in four of her past five starts, all from the stand, and should be thereabouts again. TWOBOB CRACKER (7) worked too hard in the run first-up but can improve at big odds tonight. Tips: 10 1 2 7 Suggested Bet: CARANA (10) to win. Race 8 POST GAME (1) worked extremely hard in the run when a gallant 2nd to Lusaka here last week and is clearly the one to beat tonight if he hasn’t taken any ill effects from that effort. HES NEVER BEEN BETA (7) didn’t have much luck in the concluding stages when a close-up 7th here last week but has the strength to be put into the race to overcome his wide barrier. ADVANTAGE (5) has been racing well at Pinjarra and should measure up to this class. LUCAPELO (3) has finished 2nd at his past four starts and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 1 7 5 3 Suggested Bet: POST GAME (1) to win. Race 9 ROCKIN RUFUS (2) has been racing without much luck recently and should give a great sight from this draw. EVE CROCKER (6) is first-up without a trial and has NSW form that is difficult to line up so watch the market. BALTIC ACE (1) has only been placed in one of his last 15 starts but can be a big improver from the pole over the sprint trip. BEYOND BLING (5) is racing consistently and can figure with the right run. Tips: 2 6 1 5 Suggested Bet: ROCKIN RUFUS (2) to win. Race 10 XCEPTIONAL ARMA (8) wins most of these 3YO filly events when Water Lou is absent and is clearly the one to beat despite the wide draw. MISS HEPBURN (2) has been placed in nine of her ten career starts and will give a great sight over the sprint trip if she can find the early lead. RELATIVELY ARMA (3) used her good gate speed to take up a prominent position when 2nd to Water Lou at her last start and can figure again. LENORA JANE (6) will be charging home if there is a solid tempo. Tips: 8 2 3 6 Suggested Bet: XCEPTIONAL ARMA (8) to win. Market Market
