Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on November 9, 2023November 9, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 HOTLY PURSUED (6) caught the eye with a fast-finishing 2nd in the Derby consolation here last week and is capable of going one better tonight. CROWD CONTROL (1) finished a close-up 4th in that event and looks a major player from the pole. FESS UP (9) drops in class on his 5th in the WA Derby but has a tough draw to overcome. SKYLORD (8) isn’t racing at his best but he is more than capable of winning a race of this nature if he turns up on the night. Tips: 6 1 9 8 Suggested Bet: HOTLY PURSUED (6) to win. Race 2 STREET HAWK (10) will need some luck from his awkward draw but his first-up 2nd in quick time indicated that he is in for a good campaign. WILLIAM GEES LEGACY (1) has won his last three starts in easier company and should give a great sight from the pole tonight. FLOEWRITER (11) is a versatile type who resumes here and can play a part from his nice trailing draw. MASTER PUBLISHER (6) drops in class on his recent assignment and can make his presence felt. Tips: 10 1 11 6 Suggested Bet: STREET HAWK (10) to win. Race 3 WHOS THE DAD (1) hasn’t figured in his last two starts but he did lead throughout in good time before that and he will be hard to catch if he can reproduce that performance. MAJOR PERRY (4) arrived in WA with a big reputation and recorded one win and two 2nds from his three starts last time in and resumes here without a trial. THE CODE BREAKER (5) led throughout from the pole here last week and should be thereabouts despite the awkward draw. EL CHEMA (6) was a narrow but impressive first-up winner and will be charging home. Tips: 1 4 5 6 Suggested Bet: WHOS THE DAD (1) to win. Race 4 PATRONUS STAR (6) wouldn’t have been out of place in the WA Pacing Cup and has the turn of foot to make him hard to beat if there is a solid tempo. FASTER THAN DAD (1) may be crossed at the start but he is a versatile type and he should fight out the finish if he has any luck in running. TALKS UP A STORM (7) has used his dazzling gate speed to lead throughout at his last two starts and will give them something to catch if he can find the front here. GALACTIC STAR (3) continues to race well and can figure with the right run. Tips: 6 1 7 3 Suggested Bet: PATRONUS STAR (6) to win. Race 5 MAGNIFICENT STORM (4) resumed with an eye-catching 2nd from barrier nine before leading throughout here last week and appeals as the one to beat but the draw may not work out as favourably as it first appears. PRINCE OF PLEASURE (10) is drawn perfectly for his sit-sprint racing style and he can be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. JUMPINGJACKMAC (2) led throughout in solid time over this distance two starts back and he will give a great sight if he can find the front. DIEGO (3) is the reigning champion who is a versatile type and he should enjoy a nice run close to the speed. Tips: 4 10 2 3 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (4) to win. Race 6 WONDERFUL TO FLY (1) hasn’t quite gone to the level we expected but she has still recorded eight wins and five placings from her 13 starts this time in and looks extremely hard to beat from the pole. BEYOND THE SEA (10) has been placed in three of her past four starts and looks a great chance to be in the money again from this barrier. CYCLONE CHARLOTTE (9) and TAKING THE MIKI (8) are racing extremely well but both will find it hard to overcome their wide draws. Tips: 1 10 9 8 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (1) to win. Race 7 FIREROCKFIREROLL (2) has very good gate speed and he looks the likely leader tonight and he should be a sharp improver. MACHNIFICENT (9) will settle towards the rear but he will be charging home if there is a solid early tempo. ROCKABALL (8) has ran nice placings at his past two starts and is capable of overcoming his wide draw. DISCO UNDER FIRE (1) is drawn to get a nice run just behind the speed and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 2 9 8 1 Suggested Bet: MACHNIFICENT (9) each way. Race 8 RAMBO RABBIT (6) couldn’t make up any ground when finishing at the rear at his last start but he can be driven assertively tonight and appeals as the one to beat. BEE JAYS BOY (3) didn’t have any luck at his last start but should make his presence felt from this draw tonight. HIGH PRICE (8) has been unplaced at his last four starts but he was held up here last week and can improve tonight. NAME IN LIGHTS (1) sat behind the leader when 2nd here three starts back and looks a good place chance from the pole. Tips: 6 3 8 1 Suggested Bet: RAMBO RABBIT (6) to win. Race 9 LUSAKA (4) failed from a wide draw in the WA Derby but he hadn’t finished further back than 2nd in his previous 12 starts and is clearly the one to beat here. BELLEZZA NERA (8) has chased home Im The Black Flash at his last two starts and should be charging home again. DARDY BOY (3) led throughout here last week and will give plenty of cheek if he can find the front again. ROCKMYSTER (6) disappointed at his last start but would be competitive if he can reproduce his best form. Tips: 4 8 3 6 Suggested Bet: LUSAKA (4) to win. Race 10 XCEPTIONAL ARMA (6) has faced the breeze and won her last two starts against similar fields and will prove hard to beat again. HEARTOFAHLIA (4) has finished 2nd in those events and looks the main danger but needs to find a length to challenge the favourite. DOUSEEME (1) ran on nicely to finish 3rd behind the top two fancies and should be thereabouts again. RELATIVELY ARMA (2) improved significantly when 2nd at her last start and won’t be far away from her nice draw. Tips: 6 4 1 2 Suggested Bet: XCEPTIONAL ARMA (6) to win. Market Market
