Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 24, 2022February 24, 2022 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 FRANCO ECUADOR (6) resumed from a two-year absence with a strong 2nd to Ima Fivestar General and then led throughout at Pinjarra. This is a harder assignment but he has plenty of ability and looks the one to beat. ORLANDO BLUE (11) had no luck when 4th here last week and should enjoy a nice run from his trailing draw tonight. ZAZU (10) was held up in the same race last week and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. STAR OF WILLOUGHBY (9) needs a solid tempo and will be running on strongly if that eventuates. Tips: 6 11 10 9 Suggested Bet: FRANCO ECUADOR (5) to win. Race 2 LEOSABI (2) was first-up and wasn’t far away when a 5m 5th to Diego here last week and looks the one to beat tonight from this barrier. HEEZ OUR PERSEUS (10) finished midfield behind Minstrel in stronger company and has options at the start being the only horse off the back line. TYPHOON BANNER (8) ran on without threatening here last week and will be charging home if there is a solid early tempo. BETTORSTARTDREAMING (4) is one-dimensional but looks a chance to find the front and will give a great sight in that role. Tips: 2 10 8 4 Suggested Bet: LEOSABI (2) to win. Race 3 WONDERFUL TO FLY (11) faced the breeze when a solid 3rd to SOVRANA (8) at her last start and looks the one to beat from her nice trailing draw. TAKING THE MIKI (3) ran 2nd to WONDERFUL TO FLY (11) before running a nice 4th against the older mares and is the obvious danger from this draw. SOVRANA (8) has won all three starts this time in including a 1.56.3 victory over a similar field at her last start and must be considered despite the wide draw. QUEENINTHECORNER (7) ran 2nd in that event and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 11 3 8 7 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (11) to win. Race 4 TRICKY MIKI (2) led throughout at his last start and dashed home in 55.5 on that occasion. He is the best drawn of the main chances and is clearly the one to beat. SWINGBAND (8) was a strong 2nd from the breeze here last week and has the strength to overcome the wide draw. FLOEWRITER (7) has won five of his last six starts and may use his brilliant gate speed to advantage in the early stages. ROCK ON TOP (11) has finished just behind the placegetters at his three runs back from a spell but can surprise if the race is run to suit. Tips: 2 8 7 11 Suggested Bet: TRICKY MIKI (2) to win. Race 5 TEMUKAS GIRL (1) led throughout to win her heat in 1.56.3 and is clearly the one to beat from the pole draw tonight. BETWEEN TWO THORNS (2) was impressive on debut in winning her heat and looks the obvious danger from her nice draw. AMERICAN MONARCH (10) faced the breeze when 2nd to TEMUKAS GIRL (1) and is drawn to trail the favourite throughout. CABSAV (6) was a solid 2nd to BETWEEN TWO THORNS (2) in her heat but will find it harder from out here. Tips: 1 2 10 6 Suggested Bet: TEMUKAS GIRL (1) to win. Race 6 VALEDICTORIAN (1) started from the widest barrier and worked his way to the front when an impressive 1.56.7 heat winner on debut. He gets the pole draw tonight and is clearly the one to beat. ROCKET CITY (5) has impressed in winning both of his race starts and has shown that he doesn’t have to lead to win. JUGGERNAUT (3) led throughout in moderate time in his heat win and shouldn’t be far away. HEEZ GOOD AS GOLD (10) was beaten 17m in his heat but is well drawn and could sneak a place. Tips: 1 5 3 10 Suggested Bet: VALEDICTORIAN (1) to win. Race 7 CHICAGO BULL (2) has been placed at his past two starts from the breeze and is likely to be in the same position here but will be very hard to beat. PATRONUS STAR (1) is racing well and looks the likely leader but has been susceptible in the past when pressured over this distance. TO FAST TO SERIOUS (4) missed the Summer Carnival due to a setback and is first up tonight but can be dangerous with the right run. ROMAN ART (3) sat on Minstrel when 2nd to that pacer at his last start and could enjoy the same trip tonight. Tips: 2 1 4 3 Suggested Bet: TO FAST TO SERIOUS (4) each way. Race 8 MIGHTY RONALDO (4) worked hard and was narrowly beaten in 1.54.6 at his last start and is the horse to beat despite drawing outside his main rivals. GAMBIT (3) was a strong 1.55.0 winner from the breeze here last week and is the obvious danger to the favourite. WILL I ROCKNROLL (2) ran on well when 2nd to Diego last week and looks a major player from this draw. TYLER BRETT (1) led when a close-up 4th in that event and shouldn’t be far away again. Tips: 4 3 2 1 Suggested Bet: MIGHTY RONALDO (4) to win. Race 9 SAVVY BROMAC (6) has won three of her last four starts and is the one to beat here after the scratching of Balcatherine. SHEEZ OUR HOPE (2) has been battling bad barriers of late but draws to lead if desired tonight and looks the main danger. ANGEL IN WHITE (3) was a strong 2nd after facing the breeze here last week and should enjoy a nice run in transit tonight. MY PRAYER (7) was a game 2nd to SAVVY BROMAC (6) at her last start and will be charging home again. Tips: 6 2 3 7 Suggested Bet: SAVVY BROMAC (6) to win. Race 10 HAMPTON BANNER (9) finished just behind the placegetters in the WA Pacing Cup and Lord Mayors Cup but couldn’t catch the leader when he dropped in class here last week. He can use his brilliant gate speed tonight and looks the one to beat. ALTA RHETT (1) has been placed in seven of his last nine starts and looks the main danger from the pole draw. HESASHARK (6) didn’t have much luck at his last start but has ability and can figure here. VIVERE DAMORE (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can be placed. Tips: 9 1 6 10 Suggested Bet: HAMPTON BANNER (9) to win. Race 11 ROBBIE ROCKET (3) is one-dimensional and needs a soft trip in transit but has a very sharp turn of foot if he sees daylight at the right time. BLUE BLAZER (1) didn’t really fire first-up but can be a big improver from the pole. VALBONNE (2) is racing fairly and would give plenty of cheek if he found the top. THE NOTORIOUS ONE (5) was an impressive all-the-way winner at his last start but is drawn outside his main rivals tonight. Tips: 3 1 2 5 Suggested Bet: ROBBIE ROCKET (3) to win. Market Market
