Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on May 20, 2021May 20, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 CROCODILE KID (1) has battled bad barriers of late but made the most of the pole draw when leading throughout in 1.57.7 here on Tuesday. He gets the same draw tonight and is clearly the one to beat. ZOZO MA GOGO (10) has been unplaced in her past ten starts but will enjoy a soft run on the pegs here and can be in the finish. ROCKNROLL WHITBY (2) ran a solid 3rd here two starts back and shouldn’t be far away from his nice draw. PIERRE WHITBY (8) is the class horse of the field but has a tough draw to overcome. Tips: 1 10 2 8 Suggested Bet: CROCODILE KID (1) to win. Race 2 JASPERVELLABEACH (1) led throughout to win consecutive races before battling bad barriers at his last three starts. He looks the leader tonight and should prove very hard to catch. EXTREME PRINCE (2) is racing consistently and should be thereabouts from his nice draw. THE BLACK CARDINAL (10) goes up in class on his last start win in moderate time but gets the draw to be a good place chance. MAJOR STARE (8) has been placed in three of his past four starts but has a tough draw to overcome. Tips: 1 2 10 8 Suggested Bet: JASPERVELLABEACH (1) to win. Race 3 TO FAST TO SERIOUS (2) raced against the state’s best pacers at the end of his last campaign after racing his way through the classes. He resumes here without a trial but is well drawn and should give a great sight. BOOM TIME (1) couldn’t make ground here last week but is perfectly drawn tonight and should be right in the finish. PAPINIK (10) is yet to miss a place in his 13 career starts and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. CULPEKA (6) has plenty of ability and will be fitter for his two runs back from a long break. Tips: 2 1 10 6 Suggested Bet: BOOM TIME (1) each way. Race 4 CHICAGO BULL (8) resumes here without a trial and will be vulnerable first-up but his class is likely to carry him through. VULTAN TIN (3) defeated CHICAGO BULL (8) in the WA Cup and looks the obvious danger after being placed in five of his past six starts. WHOZIDEAWASTHIS (1) has finished at the rear at his last two starts but looks a great place chance on his win before that. MAJOR TIMES (9) is the other class runner of the field who is drawn poorly but his recent trial win indicated that he is in for a good campaign. Tips: 8 3 1 9 Suggested Bet: CHICAGO BULL (8) to win. Race 5 LAVRA JOE (1) led throughout to win his heat in 1.53.4 and looks the winner here if he can hold up at the start. MIGHTY RONALDO (3) defeated a similar field to win the WA Derby two starts back and is the obvious danger. OTIS (10) finished near the rear in that Group One race but won his heat of this event and looks a good place chance from this draw. SUGAR STREET (2) ran 3rd in the WA Derby and was a gallant 3rd after sitting outside LAVRA JOE (1) in his heat and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 1 3 10 2 Suggested Bet: LAVRA JOE (1) to win. Race 6 NEWSY (1) started favourite when finishing a 1.2m 2nd to ALWAYS AN ANGEL (6) in her heat and can turn the tables after drawing the pole here. ALWAYS AN ANGEL (6) started from a wide draw when winning her heat and is the obvious danger again. BETTOR BEACH BELLE (11) led throughout to win her heat but will find it harder from the backline tonight. JOELENE (12) was well-backed to beat the favoured pair and was only beaten 3.4m when 3rd to ALWAYS AN ANGEL (6) but isn’t as well drawn tonight. Tips: 1 6 11 12 Suggested Bet: NEWSY (1) to win. Race 7 JUMPINGJACKMAC (8) led and had his chance when a 6m 2nd in the WA Derby but drops in class here and should be winning. FANCI A DANCE (3) was a solid 3rd at his first run back from a short break and looks the only danger. PLUTONIUM (5) is racing consistently with 2nds at his past two starts and looks a great place chance again. CAVEMAN (7) was well driven to win at his last start but isn’t as well drawn tonight. Tips: 8 3 5 7 Suggested Bet: JUMPINGJACKMAC (8) to win. Race 8 LOUIE THE HORSE (2) dashed home in 55.5 when leading throughout three starts back and has ran two nice placings after missing the start at his last two runs. He is the one to beat but needs to begin smoothly to take advantage of his front-line handicap. MEDIEVAL MAN (7) has won three of his last four starts from the tapes, including a win over LOUIE THE HORSE (2) and is an obvious danger. THE STARS ABOVE (1) has been a beaten favourite at his last two starts but can play a part from the pole. LEAP OF FAITH (8) enjoys the standing start conditions and will be finishing strongly. Tips: 2 7 1 8 Suggested Bet: LOUIE THE HORSE (2) to win. Race 9 SIR GALAHAD (3) was held up for a run at his first start back from a spell and looks a major player against this line-up. TIFFANY ROSE (1) takes on the boys first-up but looks the leader and will give them something to catch. JIMMY MACK (2) hasn’t had much luck in his two runs back from a spell but draws to get a nice trip in transit here and can be dangerous late. RABCHENKO (6) is racing extremely well and will be charging home if he gets the right cart into the race. Tips: 3 1 2 6 Suggested Bet: SIR GALAHAD (3) to win. Market Market
