Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on March 18, 2021March 18, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 POISEDTOPOUNCE (1) led throughout to record consecutive victories here before running a solid 5th to Matai Geordie after starting from the backline last week. He draws to lead tonight and is clearly the one to beat. MASTER PUBLISHER (2) ran a solid 4th in the same race but is drawn better tonight and should be thereabouts. POCKET THE CASH (3) ran a nice 3rd in that event and can play a part again. LONGREACH BAY (11) is better suited when he can race in or near the lead but has ability to figure in the placings. Tips: 1 2 3 11 Suggested Bet: POISEDTOPOUNCE (1) to win. Race 2 TUAS DELIGHT (1) resumes here after a short break and will give a great sight from the pole if he is forward in condition. MACHLANI (5) looked the winner last week but suffered a flat tyre at a crucial moment and should make his presence felt tonight. ONE FOR DAVE ANDME (11) was a solid 2nd to Mista Shark in quick time at his last start and is suited in this class. BETTOR FINISH (10) ran on well to finish a narrow 3rd to Manning here last week and should be in the finish if he has any luck from this draw. Tips: 1 5 11 10 Suggested Bet: ONE FOR DAVE ANDME (11) each way. Race 3 MY CARBON COPY (5) resumes from a spell here without a trial but raced in significantly stronger company last time in and is clearly the one to beat. RAKASINC (2) led and was run down late here last week and will give a great sight if he can find the top again. LIGHTNING JOLT (1) is drawn to get a nice run on the pegs and looks a good each way chance. HAS NO FEAR (10) is one-dimensional but draws to suit her sit-sprint style and can be in the placings. Tips: 5 2 1 10 Suggested Bet: MY CARBON COPY (5) to win. Race 4 WALSH (1) led throughout here two starts before running a slashing 4th after starting from a wide draw last week. He gets the pole tonight and is clearly the one to beat. ROCK ME OVER (7) has finished 1st or 2nd at his past four starts and has the strength to overcome this draw if the race is run to suit. THEREUGO (3) has blistering gate speed and will give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. IM ROCKNROLL MAGIC (10) was narrowly beaten here last week and will enjoy a soft run on the pegs tonight. Tips: 1 7 3 10 Suggested Bet: WALSH (1) to win. Race 5 LAVRA JOE (10) has won three of his four starts back from a spell in impressive fashion and is the one to beat. He has an awkward draw to overcome but will be suited by the staying trip tonight. MIGHTY RONALDO (5) is the only horse to defeat LAVRA JOE (10) this campaign and has a significant barrier advantage over his main rival. CARABAO (1) doesn’t have the class of the two favourites but can be placed from his perfect draw. POWERPLAY (11) is racing consistently and can be in the money from his nice trailing barrier. Tips: 10 5 1 11 Suggested Bet: LAVRA JOE (10) to win. Race 6 TEXAS TIGER (3) has taken all before him in winning his six starts since crossing the Tasman. He was unextended to beat a better field here last week and is clearly the one to beat. MATAI GEORDIE (1) has also been impressive in racing his way through the grades and looks the only danger to his stablemate. BRACKEN SKY (10) won’t threaten the two favourites but can be placed from his perfect draw. ROMAN ART (5) has returned from a spell in top form and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 3 1 10 5 Suggested Bet: TEXAS TIGER (3) to win. Race 7 ALICE KAY (4) was a 1.56.5 Melton winner three starts back and warmed up for her WA debut with a close 2nd to Stefsbest in 1.56.5 in a recent Byford trial. She looks a likely type who should win plenty of races in WA. MISS LIMELIGHT (3) ran a nice 2nd at her last start and gets the barrier advantage over her main rival. JUST MAKE MINE DIAMONDS (1) has only been placed once in her last eight starts but can improve from the pole. SUING YOU (8) was a good all-the-way winner at her first back from a spell but isn’t as well drawn tonight. Tips: 4 3 1 8 Suggested Bbet: ALICE KAY (4) to win. Race 8 BLACK JACK BABY (3) has won ten of her 17 race starts and is the one to beat after drawing inside her two main rivals. ALWAYS AN ANGEL (4) has won six of her nine career starts including a good win over BLACK JACK BABY (3) three starts back and is the obvious danger. JOELENE (1) has been in three of her past four starts behind the two favourites and should be in the money again from this draw. RUMOUR HAS IT (7) led throughout to defeat the two favourites here recently but isn’t as well drawn tonight. Tips: 3 4 1 7 Suggested Bet: BLACK JACK BABY (3) to win. Race 9 TAKING THE MIKI (2) has won her last two starts in impressive fashion and looks hard to beat from her nice draw. ARTISTIC SCRIBE (1) impressed with some quick closing sectionals in a recent Bunbury trial and must be considered on debut from the pole. EXTRAORDINARY MARY (3) was a strong 2nd after facing the breeze in the Sales Classic and looks a major player again. TORREVEAN AMY (4) is an improving filly who notched up her first win last start and can be placed with the right run. Tips: 2 1 3 4 Suggested Bet: TAKING THE MIKI (2) to win. Race 10 BATTLESCARD (6) has won his last three on end in impressive fashion and is ready for the rise in class tonight. FLOEWRITER (7) led throughout in good time to win the Sales Classic at his last start. He isn’t as well drawn but this field isn’t as strong and he must be considered. BE HOME SOON (2) has been right in the finish at his last four starts and gets a significant barrier advantage over his main rivals. SEVEN NO TRUMPS (5) has won two of his three race starts but is likely to find this a more difficult assignment. Tbips: 6 7 2 5 Suggested Bet: BATTLESCARD (6) to win. Market Market
