The Scout: A-League Week 17 Posted on March 4, 2022March 4, 2022 | Posted by The Scout Central Coast Mariners vs Brisbane Roar The Central Coast Mariners and Brisbane Roar do battle in the bottom of the ladder clash and as both teams currently sit on the same number of points, the loser in this encounter will be firmly cemented in last place in the A League. Both sides are in terrible form but the Mariners after a good start to the season have completely capitulated and have not found a win in seven fixtures. For Brisbane, it has been the reverse, having started the season poorly they have now started to find their footing. Central Coast have been hot and cold all season but one thing they have been able to do is attack and score goals. This was on full display in February where the Mariners narrowly lost to Melbourne city 3-2 and a high scoring 3-3 draw with Macarthur. Suggested Bet: Central Coast Mariners WIN @ $2.20* Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne City Wellington Phoenix (7th) come into this match off the back of a 1-1 draw against Sydney FC while Melbourne City (1st) enter also off the back of draw in an exciting 2-2 match with Perth Glory. This will be an exciting fixture as both sides are in fantastic form, in particular Wellington who have turned their season around after a run of four losses in a row. Despite Wellington’s impressive form which was on full display against Sydney FC last match, they are simply not at the level of Melbourne City. As the defending A League champion’s, Melbourne City are showcasing their dominance and are putting up a strong case to go back to back. The goal scoring power of Melbourne City is what separates them from the rest of the competition and so far, they have scored a massive 33 goals in 16 matches. To put this into perspective they have scored 10 more goals than Adelaide United who are the second highest scoring team this season. Suggested Bet: Melbourne City HT/FT @ $2.80 Perth Glory vs Adelaide United Perth Glory (9th) have struggled this season but a 2-2 draw against defending champions Melbourne City will provide some much-needed confidence. Adelaide United (4th) are in a good vein of form and enter this match off a 2-1 win against the Mariners. It has been a long time coming for Glory fans who finally get to see their team play at home after a long layoff. Although Perth have not been getting results one thing, they are consistent at is scoring goals and were impressive in their draw against City. Adelaide have outperformed their expectations and although they have had some great wins there is a clear issue with their defense. The Reds have conceded in nine straight fixtures and their recent 4-1 loss to Macarthur FC highlights just how inconsistent and vulnerable their backline is. Suggested Bet: Perth Glory WIN @ $2.08* *Odds correct as at 3pm, 4th March 2022. Market Market
