Scott Embry’s Wednesday Pinjarra Preview Posted on December 28, 2021December 28, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ALLEGIANCE showed glimpses last campaign including a second to Jedi Mind in a 3 year old 0MWLY at Belmont. Firs-tup run was poor, second-up run was a pass mark and the third-up run was an eyecatcher when charging to the line after striking considerable interference at various stages in the home straight and finishing third behind Bell Lap and subsequent winner Dash of Brandy. Looks like she’s searching for ground. DENZOE comes from the same race and was grinding away strongly. Looks fairly one paced. CAFÉ NERA looked to have found a suitable race last start and she went down narrowly when unable to reel in Rommel’s War. Should get every chance again. NORTH LANE has a senior on. Hasn’t had much luck so far. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – ALLEGIANCE WIN RACE 2 TENACIOUS REWARD won’t be a maiden for long. Chased hard on debut behind So Birikkino into second and then was stiff not to win last start when held up turning for home and having to get around the heels of the leader before flashing in the final few strides to narrowly miss. Shaun O’Donnell picks up the ride and he looks ready to win. CIVVY STREET was excellent first-up and then ended up in a horror position in running second-up. William Pike takes over from a 3kg claimer which always catches the eye. MAGNAMAN hasn’t been asked for much at trials. After a quiet winter Michael Lane has produced a few winners recently. SHAKE BABY SHAKE went down at the hands of a fairly nice 3 year old in Albany. Done nothing wrong in two outings. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – TENACIOUS REWARD WIN RACE 3 SWEET ADMIRATION worked home well on debut behind Galancy and Civvy Street and then was much better at start number two when finishing third behind Bunya To Survive and subsequent maiden winner Our Norman. That looks the strongest form reference and both Sweet Admiration and Extra Secret meet again out to 1400m. Not much between them and drawn alongside each other. Given the difference in silks we’ll side with Sweet Admiration who is likely to be the better price. EXTRA SECRET had to cover extra ground on debut. Thought the effort was full of merit and she should only get better with racing. DEMITO has a senior on and has run some slick sections in the past. TOP NOTCH SCOTCH was good last start. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SWEET ADMIRATION WIN RACE 4 VEVINSKY put the writing on the wall last start with a third behind Playz With Fire (in on Tuesday at Belmont) and subsequent plunge maiden winner Reliable Choice. Even the horse who finished a distant eighth (Peppigrove) has bobbed up at odds to run a place out of that form reference. Pike jumps on and he’s drawn to get every chance. Likely to be popular. POSTER ART did a few things wrong in his initial campaign and yet still showed ability. Didn’t mind the recent trial. Should go well at his return. ARGONAUTS an improver at any old odds. Not going too bad. KELLYS HERO should be afforded every chance. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – VEVINSKY WIN RACE 5 BELL LAP looks an improving type for SJ Miller. Two starts ago finished second to talented filly Uni Queen and then last start had to work to find the front but once he did, he never looked like being run down. The most impressive thing was his ability to do it at both ends in a maiden which was run 3.5L faster than average. If he can work his way to the top again he’ll take running down. WESTRIVER MIRACLE has shown above average ability. Think he’s got more ability than most C1 horses and will be finishing off hard late. BROADWAY GIRL was well commissioned in betting last start and got no luck at all. Knocking on the door. MASCHERANO has been huge at his last two. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BELL LAP WIN RACE 6 MANTELLI is no star but Team Gangemi have him going particularly well and they are placing him excellently as he tries to work his way through the grades. Love the way horses are running for Shaun O’Donnell down the 1000m straight (Oh Sophia, Northern Ruler, even Black For Cash) so expecting drawn the outside fence that Mantelli will go well. In form and beat home Heavenly Waters before running into a flying Trevern. VANE TEMPEST was enormous last start in the Mares 66+ feature. Only carries half a kilo more here and drops significantly in class. MATERIAL WITNESS is a talented galloper with a sharp point to point turn of speed. SUNNYSILK next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MANTELLI WIN RACE 7 KIMBERLEY BOY ran second to Mercanto on debut and then wasn’t seen at the races for 399 days. Adam Durrant produced him first-up off just the one 950m Lark Hill trial and he didn’t disappoint. Was drawn the ‘wrong side’ of the Pinjarra straight, came out running, crossed them and then waltzed home to a 2L win. Will need to be good to run down Sockoff with 60kg but he looks a Saturday horse in the making. SOCKOFF was a heartbreaker last start. Lead for 998m down the straight and was nabbed in the shadows when well backed in betting. Like the use of Holly Watson’s claim. She’s an all or nothing commodity. SHORT TALK is a capable mare resuming. Lightly raced and her trial suggest she’ll be going through the grades this time in. IMPRUDENT is never far from the action. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – KIMBERLEY BOY WIN RACE 8 KICK A GOAL SON was a super effort last start behind capable 3 year old Cold Shizzle and honest midweek type Trevello. From further back So Sway has since finished second at Geraldon, Blazing Away a minor at Pinjarra and Mr Causeway a winner at Albany. Think the form is strong enough to see him competitive in a wide open racing. From the draw CJP should give him a gun run. IRRITABLE RODNEE was fair at his return to racing. From the fence or the breeze he should be there about again. BOURBON BEAU gets an identical run to what he enjoyed last start when winning. WESTERN RHYTHM seems to go 5L better for Pike than anyone else. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – KICK A GOAL SON WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3 1,2,3 1,5,6 1,3,4,6,10,11 Market Market
