Scott Embry’s Wednesday Northam Preview Posted on November 15, 2022November 15, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TORPEDO MAN finished second to Baby Paris in a 400m jump out and then won a 1000m barrier trial at Belmont by almost 4L when leading and kicking clear of stablemate (debut winner) The Chief Justice. Went to a 3 year old Graduation first-up when running into subsequent Placid Ark Stakes winner My Bella Mae. Carries the same weight in a maiden and should nearly hold the top. Hard to run down. DEETEA is a versatile filly who won’t be a maiden for long. Was backed off the map at her return when drawing an awkward alley. She’ll get a far more economical run here. EBONY’S ACE ran some tidy races as a 2 year old. SCENIC ECLIPSE let down well at trials. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – TORPEDOMAN WIN RACE 2 TIN CHOOKS is a throw at the stumps. Thought his trial alongside Alaskalot was sound and then he ended up a long way back on debut in a race which was dominated from the front by Samaria. Was a very similar run to Circus Star in that event and he has since come out and franked the form. In a race devoid of speed thought there was a chance that he could work across into a position. WOZZECK raced exactly the way she trialled. She got back, she was niggled at to stay with them and she finished off well late and ran right through the line. Not entirely sure whether or not barrier 1 is going to suit a filly like her but she’s got a level of ability and should be going close in this. ROCK MY WAY has actually been hitting the line in her trials. DELTA ANNE went close last start. Honest mare. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 13 – 7 Suggested Bet – TIN CHOOKS EACHWAY RACE 3 BELLE’S FANTASY is dropping back into a C1 from back to back C3 efforts. Last start finished 1L off Ambergate Rose and I’m Eugene and this looks very winnable for her. She’s got an awkward gate to contend with, however, she’s quite a versatile mare and with even luck she can work her way forward to sit up outside of Elementary Holmes in a prominent position. Really gets her chance. ELEMENTARY HOLMES has only had three starts in WA. His first-up run last preparation down the Pinjarra Straight was excellent. Jump and run type. AQUAPISHE never got into the race first-up. Trial was sound. FOXY SON has been riddled with bad barriers recently. Going alright. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – BELLE’S FANTASY WIN RACE 4 SOCKOFF, COSMOPOLITAN GIRL and SHORT TALK are likely to lock horns in an early speed battle and it should be VIA MONTE who is getting a gun run tucked away in behind them throughout. First-up last campaign without a trial he went around a well supported $2.50 chance behind Lexington City in a 3 year old 62+. Jury is still out on what his best distance is but this is a lovely map for his return. SOCKOFF is a different mare when she can find the fence. Expecting that Brandon Louis will be looking to cross Cosmopolitan Girl in the early stages. MOI CHOUX has his first run since April 2021. Big ask to win off such a long absence but his trial was excellent and Summer Dickson does a super job with these older tried types. COSTUME PARTY better suited here. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – VIA MONTE WIN RACE 5 MADAME MAGIC was a big winner on debut at 1200m. When the favourite and leader Forever Classic skipped away on the corner it looked to be all over but Madame Magic hit top gear in the final 200 and ran straight past her and right through the line. Touted post-race as a potential Oaks filly and expecting her to wind up strongly again. Just wary of the fact that they’ve made very little ground in the last few months at Northam. MYSTIC JANE took a sit last start and ran a ripper behind My Bella Mae and Prawns Eleven. 1400m a query but there’s no speed in this. SISU WARRIOR was an alarming drifter first-up and ran accordingly. Thought he was only fair. CAVALLO RED showed something at trials. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MADAME MAGIC WIN RACE 6 MARKET STYKE was a shade disappointing on Cup Day after getting things cheap in front. His previous start at Kalgoorlie was luckless when held up at a crucial stage before getting out once the race was over. Luke Campbell takes 3kg off and he can either roll to the top or park up outside Oceanic Rider. Giving him another chance. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – MARKET STRYKE WIN RACE 7 ALMAHER MAN gets his best chance yet since joining the Todd Harvey yard. As a 3 year old he was taken through the features, 3 year old Magic Millions, Lex Piper, JC Roberts and Melvista. Since joining the new stable, he has raced in a pair of Class 3 events. Drops back into a C1 for the first time since January and should get every possible chance from the inside gate. MAIL heads to the stables of owner Peter Morley and ran an honest race behind emerging mare Rare Encounter last start. Straight to the top and kicks into the corner. RISKY LYRICS returns to Ben & Dan Pearce and should get a beautiful run one out and one back from the gate with the senior rider going on. DUSTY’S GOT TALENT is yet to find her feet this preparation. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – ALMAHER MAN EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3 1,6,9 1,2,3,4,6,7 1,2,3,4,7,10 Market Market
