Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on December 1, 2020December 2, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SENTIMENTAL HERO looks one out the box. Looking to call it early (very early), he wins the 2021 WATC Derby. Looks well and truly above average, does everything right and has a powerful turn of acceleration when asked to go. Looks primed to notch back to back victories and is the kind of horse who you can follow every run from now til end of April. NOBEL LAURENCE has a stack of raw, natural ability. Belted them last start but might just run into a special one here. SON SON gets big weight relief and the cutaway run. Does no work and sprints up the fence. NO SURRENDER is always hard to get past but was made to look silly by Sentimental Hero last time they met. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SENTIMENTAL HERO WIN RACE 2 TESTING LOVE will go round a prohibitive favourite after the pre-post scratching of Doowahdiddy who saves for Thursday. Ran highly progressive filly Sheza Chalmer to half a length last start when going under as an odds-on favourite but that form now reads up super. (Apologies to loyal early readers #onlyhuman). KEYTRADE an improver drawn a gate with Rawiller on and an important ear change. BALDERDASH is honest as they come and will break through soon. GALAGA ran well first-up. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – TESTING LOVE WIN RACE 3 CRESCENT CITY doesn’t look to be a star but the trials over the short course for a horse on debut at 1420m looked solid. The most recent was given a 10/10 trial ride by Chris Parnham and let down well enough to suggest that on debut he’ll take some beating in a moderate line-up. ARRACITY has put the writing on the wall at the last two outings and looks the logical danger and likely favourite. COMEALILBITCLOSER has been given every mortal his last two but should get another soft run. ELDORADO IVER wasn’t disgraced on debut. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – CRESCENT CITY WIN RACE 4 MATERIAL WITNESS was the target of strong backing on debut in a race which looked awkward on paper, especially at 1000m. Second-up, drawn a far better gate, importantly stepping out to 1200m should see him right in the mix. Natural improvement from the race day experience, he looks likely to give this a big shake. OLDEN has all the race form on the board as a 2 year old. Everything he did was in strong 2 year old races. Blinkers on, logical danger. ZAC LUVS TO FLY is double nominated Wednesday and Thursday and will be competitive in either event. NOBELLITY can be forgiven for the poor performance when sitting in traffic in a horrendously slowly run race. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – MATERIAL WITNESS WIN RACE 5 RED HOT DUBAI continues to be the target of strong backing in his races. Doing nothing wrong, drawn a gate to get every possible chance and Peter Hall can nearly take him to the top and control the tempo. Regardless of whether he leads or box seats he should be there abouts in an evenly graded maiden. THE ROAN RANGER has had a lot of chances but continues to race particularly well. With any luck from the sticky draw he’ll be going close. NIGHT SESSION was perfectly steered by Pike last start and still couldn’t quite get over the line. Knocking on the door. DATALKA an improver at odds. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – RED HOT DUBAI WIN RACE 6 OHBEEH trialled like a horse who would be going through the grades this preparation. The Jim Taylor stable is in white hot form, he is particularly well placed in C3 company, Laqdar is riding winners galore and he can carry the weight easily. Provided he jumps he’ll be in the first four in running and looks one of the better bets on the program. LEICA JAGUAR caught the eye first-up and should be breaking through soon. DEW WEST chased hard behind Cockyjoy and does seem to go better for Pike than anyone (Shock). BELLE OF LIBERTY is going well. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – OHBEEH WIN RACE 7 WINNIE’S WINE has raced well in back to back C3 races at 1800m and 1690m. Ran fourth behind Great Waters and Hip Wiggle before another fast finishing fourth behind Our Idyll, Alimentaria and Regent Star. Backs up off 7 days, drops back into a C1 race and draws a gate to settle midfield (or just worse) with cover. Eachway all day. SHOWADDYWADDDY is knocking on the door and now gets the services of a senior rider. Hard to beat. CASA ROSADA is going well this campaign and is being tested at the staying trip for the first time. RODOMONTE was much better last start and can box seat here. Numbers: 11 – 7 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – WINNIE’S WINE EACHWAY RACE 8 ROCKY PATH was an impressive trial for her return and then got well out of her ground first-up from a wide draw. Caught the eye in the finish and now steps out to 1400m second-up and draws a far better alley. Pat Carbery should be able to find a position in the moving line and then they’ll likely fan into the corner. Is a mare with a sharp turn of foot who looks suited to cutaway racing. DIABLERIE destroyed them in a c70+ at Albany last start. Summer Dickson has him back in form and if Pike can give him an economical run then he’s the one to beat. DUTCH SPY is brilliantly placed into this company. He wins very soon. HEART OF COEUR ran better than it reads on paper first start for new trainer Steven Burton. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROCKY PATH EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,4,5,8,10 1,2,3,6,8 1,2,5,6,7,8,11 1,2,11 Market Market
