Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on June 23, 2020June 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JANAURA is still a maiden after 6 starts but every outing last campaign was full of merit. Ran sixth in the Pinjarra Magic Millions behind Gemma’s Son and then after being nosed out by Sunnysilk was able to pick up Black Type in the Supremacy Stakes behind Starfield Impact. Is a jump and run filly and gets her chance to lead all the way. CONTINUANCE ran really wel on debut coming from off the speed and running a solid second. Only better for the experience. SNIPILLICOUS has drawn poorly at both career starts which makes it tough. MAGICAL DREAM will clearly only get better over further but it is this time of year that the Cerise and White dominate WA. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – JANAURA WIN RACE 2 MYSTICAL VIEW looks forward and capable of sitting closer than most Cerise and White runners in transit. This looks the perfect opportunity to make a winning start to her career and this race looks to be between most of the trail brigade as the raced bunch don’t look outstanding. MIS BOUGAINVILLEA has only had a 400m jump out going into her debut this campaign but looked professional and caught the eye when last in work too. KEEP YOUR FEET comes from the Simon Miller yard who are starting to wheel out some nice 2 year olds. Has trialled well for return. NOBEL STAR is a nice ride for Victoria Corver and has no weight after the claim. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – MYSTICAL VIEW WIN RACE 3 ELITE STREET had absolutely nothing first-up when backed at the shorts ($1.8 into $1.45). Sat in the breeze on a Soft7 and looked to be spinning the wheels. If the track can hold up as a Soft5 that will be a big help and this race is even weaker than the first-up assignment when plunged. FEMME PUISSANTE never gave up the chase behind Big Man In The Sky last start and draws well in 5. CHEEKY BLONDE should be able to cross and give some cheek. DRAMA FREE promised to win a race all preparation when last in work. 75 days between runs, no trial, keep safe. Numbers: 2 – 6 –7 – 1 Suggested Bet – ELITE STREET WIN RACE 4 WEST FIFTY FOURTH only needs to jump cleanly and hold a position in running to be a big winning chance. Resumed in a 66+ when finishing within 2.5L of We’ve Got Dreams. Beat home Son of a God in that race and was much like Night Voyage in behind able to make ground in the wrong part of the track. Cutaway suits, can win. PLATINUM BULLET is mixing her form. Clearly the best horse in the race by some way but possibly at the end of a campaign and back in trip sharply. Will have opinions divided. ZIEBELL was attempted to sit last start. Almost certain they will never try that again. He is just jump and run. CLASSIC PRO always a chance in this grade. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – WEST FIFTY FOURTH EACHWAY RACE 5 CHANTREA continues on her way towards the Belmont Oaks bypassing the features and picking off ratings races. Resumed against her own age group when dominating over 1400m. Wasn’t an overly strong race but apart from two (Eurasia & Irratable Rodnee) this doesn’t look to have any more quality. With the cutaway on offer no reason she can’t remain undefeated. EURASIA had a freshen up before running into Indian Pacific, Windstorm, Mood Swings and Captain Kink in a white hot race and then was far from disgraced behind Serenity Bay in a Saturday Grad. IRRITABLE RODNEE ran well behind Resortman, beating home Northam WA Day Cup winner Fuhrer two starts ago. Last start was one to forget. GINGER FLYER is the leader and runs them along. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – CHANTREA WIN RACE 6 QUINTARO has been excellent in back to back rain affected staying races since Shaun O’Donnell jumped on. Ran third behind Saxon Saxoff and Western King two starts ago at Ascot in a strongly run race and then travelled strongly throughout behind Roman Flirt at Pinjarra last start, with that mare charging through the grades. BEANIE continues to suck punters in. He is good enough and possibly the weight relief will sharpen him up. PETTICOAT JUNCTION can be a little hit and miss. Definitely forget last start when she didn’t step and then endured a horror run. Yuill on catches the eye. SCINTILLATING has yet to fire a shot but drops in grade. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – QUINTARO WIN RACE 7 MARXIAN only comes from a lowly C1 event but he is a progressive stayer and finds the front in his races. Should have enough early speed to hold out the challenge of Twentythree Red and that leaves him to control the speed. No reason he can’t continue on throught the grades for Darren McAullife’s in form yard. UNENDING has been in work for an eternity but continues to run her usual honest and consistent race. Repeats any of her runs of the last 3 months and should be there abouts. TWENTYTHREE RED seems to run for Madi Derrick and if breezing is more than capable. DIPLOMAT EXPRESS always a winning chance at this stage of the prep. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – MARXIAN WIN RACE 8 MONTELENA is only a C1 filly who won a 2 year old race on debut and then hasn’t troubled the scorers for the next 368 days but that is certainly not a fair representation of her abilities. Has been racing almost exclusively in 3 year old features since without being disgraced. Last preparation finished half a length off Money Matters (who then won a Lex Piper Stakes) in the Bunbury Breeder’s Classic and then was competitive in a Challenge Stakes and Ascot 1000 Guineas. First-up, no trial, C1, drawn 1 with a cutaway. Looks her race. TIFF HAS SPOKEN resumed in a strong race and should find this more suitable. BALLADEER has been back to trials since breaking his duck at his first WA start. LIE’S N DECEPTION was backed as if unbeatable last start and duly saluted. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MONTELENA WIN RACE 9 REWRITE THE STARS is amazingly still a C1 filly after 8 outings but has raced in stronger company than this for the majority of her short career. First-up this preparation ran third behind Showmanship and Sir Mambo in a Graduation before dropping into a 3yo OMWLY race when landing a beautiful spot in running before getting continually shuffled back behind tiring runners whilst classy pair Bright Diamond and Puckapunyal were making their runs. This is another drop in class for her. FORGOTTEN JEWEL is one from one undefeated and if he gets across without doing too much work is clearly the one to beat. OHBEEH has ability and will be winning races this preparation. SWEET STRAWBERRY is drawn horribly but Pike offsets it. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – REWRITE THE STARS WIN RACE 10 FLOWER OF SCOTLAND has to carry 60kg from barrier 6 (could come into 5) and is yet to win at Belmont after 5 outings but looks a different mare under Madi Derrick. She just needs to be kept happy in her races and if that’s 3 deep the trip and wobbling to the centre of the track then so be it. A lot to be said for letting a female do what she wants in life. ALTANI is a month between runs and comes back in trip. At her best she has an electric turn of foot. CITY CIRCLE resumes here and from the draw should be poised in behind them and gets a run when they fan on the cutaway. KENNEDY was a different horse last start. Repeats that run and goes close. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – FLOWER OF SCOTLAND WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1,2,3,4 1 3,6 1,3,4,5,6,10 Market Market
