Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 23, 2019July 24, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 LAKEVIEW AND STAR vs UNI TIME on paper. The two favourites likely take up more than 90% of the market when it opens. Both carry big weights and both look capable of winning better races than this. Siding with LAKEVIEW AND STAR who should settle close handy in the run. Trialed well and his first two runs in his career were easily good enough to win this. UNI TIME seems to find trouble but has a big finish. Worth following. I’M ICEY and POINT taken can round out the minors. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – LAKEVIEW AND STAR WIN Race 2 WESTERN QUEEN is the half-sister to promising type Western Pride out of former Perth Cup winning mare Western Jewel. The 1300m should be perfect for her and she showed at trials that she can settle midfield. Gets to the outside and should run past these. IS A BOMBSHELL trialed well before finding the 1000m a bit sharp fresh. Up in trip, down in weight, big improver. CASA ROSADA has been trialing well and draws soft. APACHE PASS has not had the most conventional preparation but showed a bit on a few occasions. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – WESTERN QUEEN WIN Race 3 MEXI COLA is big and awkward but can gallop. Got himself into a very awkward position first-up and was not a winning chance from there. Looks far better suited drawn wide to come with one sustained run out deep. Think he will do his best at 1600+ but can win this. BOOTLEG RASCAL has looked the winner in all three this preparation. Pike drawn leader’s back and three back the fence is printing money at the minute. BRAVE CALL was not suited in a slowly run race last start. ERISTIC bounced back last start and can cross. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – MEXI COLA EACHWAY Race 4 EARLY EXPLORER was a big drifter first-up no trial and pulled his head off three back the fence. Found traffic, got knocked around, didn’t balance until the final 50m and was doing his best past the post. He looks awfully hard to beat in this field. BLACK RUSSIAN looks the obvious danger on paper. Only coming from a lowly maiden on a rain affected track but Durrant middle distance types improve at every run. ARTIE’S JEWELS may not be suited on the fence. REGAL MAGIC backs up from a fast run race but mile is a query. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – EARLY EXPLORER WIN Race 5 AY TEE EMM has been smashing the clock down at Pinjarra and winning in a canter. There are mixed opinions on horses coming from straight races to the bend but provided Bennett lets him run along he’ll be hard to chase down. THUNDERSTRUT caught the eye last start and can settle right in the box seat from the draw. IMPERIAL VENUS went well first-up with a big weight. Engagement of an in-form apprentice puts him in the mix. PASAJERO has been excellent at every start since joining Holly Taylor. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – AY TEE EMM EACHWAY Race 6 MAGIC LAS VEGAS looks ready to win. Has been building into the preparation and seems to get along really well with Kristy Bennett. Can find the front here and stretch the neck of the favourite. DELTA BELLE seemed to relish the step up to a staying trip for the first time. Opened up second favourite in the Belmont Classic and scratched for this. Mighty hard to beat. WESTERN STAR can work her way forward midrace and sustain a long run. BLACK ATTACK was a strong effort last start when setting the speed. Better suited winding up. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAGIC LAS VEGAS EACHWAY Race 7 GET OVER IT has not won for a long time and there are queries around just how genuine he is as a galloper, however, this is far and away the easiest assignment he has seen since he was a 3 year old. Drops out of a very strong 70+ race where he tramped deep and still finished in and around In Love With Paris, Chix Pic and Pym’s Royale. Brilliantly placed here. BUSHFIRE BLONDE drops in grade, draws a gate and has W.Pike aboard. BARON BOSTOCK found trouble last start but was also disappointing. FALSE STATEMENT gets it soft along the fence. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – GET OVER IT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4 1,2,3,4 1,7 1,2,4,6,8 Market Market
