Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 16, 2025September 16, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HASANI and SAAM TIME LUCKY go head to head again, this time with a 1.5kg weight swing in favour of SAAM TIME LUCKY and an extra 100m to try and turn the tables. It looks again like a messy sit and sprint where Steve Parnham will have to time his run to perfection but hopefully this time around there’s no spot in the map of Hasani and he can stalk Lucy’s every move. HASANI was the better supported galloper the last time they met and the money was spot on. No reason why he can’t win again. BRAVE DRAGON again rolls to the top and controls. ROCKSTAR QUEEN comes through the Eternal Wine / Vivalda / True Fiction race which will continue to hold up as a form reference. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SAAM TIME LUCKY WIN RACE 2 JIMMY ANGEL found the line well first-up over 1000, found Rock Fest far too good at his second outing (all of these would) and then last week when the shades were added he raced keenly behind a moderate tempo before being held up badly in the home straight as well as the saddle shifting on Chanel Cooper. 7 days later he drops back into an all age maiden, has a senior rider going on and maps to get every chance. Nice race for him. HEEZ PHOENIX has shown ability at trials and probably gets an identical run leader’s back with a cutaway like he did at Lark Hill when accelerating through along the fence. DOBLE OH NADA was $34 into $7.50 first-up and nearly landed the money. TORI’S WORLD led and won her trial impressively. Numbers: 10 – 14 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – JIMMY ANGEL EACHWAY RACE 3 SURFSIDE SESSION had one kicking up underneath him for the first 400m of the race first-up and that took its toll late when he was unable to hold out the late challenge of Xentaro who enjoyed the beautiful run behind the leaders. Second-up he’s drawn barrier 1 to lead and that will hopefully see him a bit more tractable and going very close to winning. DE GRANDHOMME was allowed to stride in his trial by a junior rider. Interesting to see on race day how they ride him considering historically he’s been a get back type. Only win without blinkers and they’re removed. BOSISTO likely gets too far back? SESH was his own worst enemy first-up. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SURFSIDE SESSION WIN RACE 4 STARTLING STAR would have been a good thing beat last weekend if she didn’t eventually get herself into clear galloping room before flashing late at Old Mate Henry and nabbing him on the line. The time figures out of that race were huge so expecting that she will meet with support in betting on the 7-day spin and with a cutaway in play Amy Jo Hayes can park her leader’s back and wait for the gaps to appear. MOONSHINE QUEEN is another last start winner on the quick back-up and the 3-year-olds are beating the older horses for fun at the minute. THE LUCKY CHIP comes through the winner producing Sandfire Rose / Girls On Fire / Mollys My Pal race. CAPABLE ANGEL did a great job going to 1650m last start when only run down late. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – STARTLING STAR WIN RACE 5 STRICTLY CASH has run well in both outings this campaign and always goes around double figures. Think he’s a chance of getting across into a handy spot here from his draw and if he does then he might just be the forgotten horse in the race and can run a cheeky. SAULOK has returned in great order having trialled well at Belmont and then ran out of his skin first-up at 1200m from an unfamiliar position off-speed when working home into second behind Eliteone who ran a massive race in a deep 66+ on the weekend. The issue is obvious – where does he get to from barrier 10/11? CAVALLO RED is 1 from 17 but it’s hard to ignore his two runs this prep and he now gets Pike. ACROSS GENERATIONS a watch fresh. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – STRICTLY CASH EACHWAY RACE 6 MISS WALL STREET is going really well for new trainer Mack Hall. She won a 58+ at Kalgoorlie from midfield on a day where all the leaders were winning and then she backed it up with a narrow second last week in a 0MWLY behind Kiralui. 7 days later she’s back in grade into a C3 and will go around eachway. Hard to fault. JUST ADORABELLE and SURROUND ME went to the line locked together on 6 August and there’s a 1kg swing in favour of Just Adorabelle who has since nearly won a Saturday Graduation. AIN’T SOBAD missed the kick fresh and then was given no peace in front second-up. DESERT LIFE gets in with 54kg and maps brilliantly but 1000 to 1300m has to be a query? Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – MISS WALL STREET EACHWAY RACE 7 PROMISING looks to have found a winnable race at her return. She’s the winner of a maiden and a C1 but it’s her 3 year old Plate placing to Shmoov Moova and Supernatural that sells you on her natural ability. They scratched from Sunday at Northam to save for this and from barrier 1 she’ll either lead or stalk the speed and should be right in the mix. EMPRESS OF INDIA just keeps turning up. She’s had a few excuses in recent runs and yet has still finished within 2L of some nice types. This is her grade. UNDER INFLUENCE is flying but he’s hard to punt with any confidence with such a negative racing pattern. Flew two back, held up badly last start. PRINCE is working through the grades well but this is noticeably harder. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – PROMISING WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 6,7,10 2,3,10 1,2,3,4,5,6,10,11,12 3,4,9 Market Market
