Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on March 4, 2025March 4, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAFEKEEPER and QUEEN OF HAWKS come through the same 1000m trial at Belmont Park and both were equally as impressive. Thought QUEEN OF HAWKS had plenty to offer in the home straight when held back to the field by Chris Parnham and given she’s drawn ideally in barrier 1 and SAFEKEEPER is drawn a little awkwardly in barrier 6 going to side up with the filly. MAGALI MAGIC beat home SOMETHING ROYAL at Barker and meets her half a kilo better with a senior on. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – QUEEN OF HAWKS WIN RACE 2 MASTERLY can bounce on the top or take cover if Please Mizter wants to go on with it early. Either way he lands in a commanding position in running and he’s ready to win one. This is not a deep race and even though he is a maiden he looks to get his chance. YOUGIVEMECHILLS was first-up, no trial at 1300m at Pinjarra and had to sprint hard in a very slowly run race (overall time 6L slower than average). Encouraging signs. NINE BALL trialled well recently and is drawn to get every favour. SHOOT TO FAME had an excuse two back in the winner producing All Grunt race. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – MASTERLY WIN RACE 3 MISTER RAFFLES finally makes his way back into a maiden. First-up ran second in a C1, second-up ran third in a 3 year old 0MWLY and now drops half a kilo into a thin all age maiden. Barrier 10 of 10 is certainly ugly and he’s every chance of being caught three deep, however, he’s a big striding animal and is the best horse in the race on ability. Deserves to win one. UNGOVERNED skipped clear at Bunbury but hit a brick wall in the last 100. CAP CAVOUR ran two great races earlier this campaign. CHE FIGATA was a soft trial. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MISTER RAFFLES WIN RACE 4 NET ZERO could be on his way through to a JC Roberts – Melvista Stakes – WATC Derby further into his preparation and if that is indeed the case then he would want to be winning this moderate midweek C1. He’s drawn 9 of 9 so likely ends up three deep cover and think the filly who beat him last start (Summer’s Legacy) is pretty good. MY BE LAD is through the same race and was only 2L off Net Zero. VENTURO is loving life with Campbell McCallum. ROCK DEE JAY has all the right form, just doesn’t win races. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – NET ZERO WIN RACE 5 THERMOSPHERE LAD has found a wonderful race. He was crossed from barrier 1 last start and then couldn’t get any momentum into the race from leader’s back. If he gets crossed here, it’s likely by The Chief Justice who will roll under 53.5kg and allow Thermosphere Lad room to move out from behind his heels and be the first horse past him in the home straight. He’s flying. MY JIMMY finished 1.5L behind him the last time they met. HE’S ARCHIE was also in that Touretto race and draws well here. NATURAL GEM next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – THERMOSPHERE LAD WIN RACE 6 JAZ SESSION was crunched in betting first-up ($10 into $4.20) and punters nearly landed the money. She naturally improves second-up, she’s now proven she’s more than just a Pinjarra straight 1000m commodity and from barrier 1 in a field full of speed and pressure she can burst through late. MADE IN MEXICO is a hard horse to follow but he’s better than what he produced last time out. UNIVERSAL FLAIR was once a m76 rated mare. She’ll be winning races for Grant & Alana. PIN DEEP looks three deep and isn’t stepping as cleanly as he once did. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – JAZ SESSION WIN RACE 7 CREZEE is again my ticket in the staying raffle. He got held up at crucial stages last time out in the Mr Talentino / Sirota / Royal Splendour race and clearly there’s very little between these horses at 54+ grade. Blinkers on, Brad Parnham on, we’ll follow up eachway. MR TALENTINO was very well found ($8.50 to $4.80) and got the job done. No reason he can’t go back to back. THE HILL TRIBE steps out to a staying trip and gets Pike for an apprentice. ROYAL SPLENDOUR is consistently attacking the line. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CREZEE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,8 1,2 3,6,9 3,4,5,8,11,12 Market Market
