Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on June 25, 2024June 25, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THIS’LL SHOW YA has sensational race form for what is a 2 year old maiden. She has finished second to Golden Kathleen (beating home Elite Missile), finished second to Blue Rocket (beating home Gimcrack Stakes winner Siren Assault) and now she resumes over 1000m on the minimum in a race without a winner. She’s jump and run and shown that she’s tough. Plenty to like and won’t even go round favourite. MAI ALOHA will be understandably popular out of the trials. Both have been impressive and she looks a ready made race filly. THE AGENCY ran well on debut and scratched from Saturday to save for this. GREAT EDITION trialled nicely. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – THIS’LL SHOW YA WIN RACE 2 JOKERS GRIN looks really good. Did plenty of work on debut before fading late in a winner producing race behind Skytalker and Sir Eyrelton and then was a brilliant last to first 1000m winner at Northam in sizzling time. The runner-up Uukhai was backed as if unbeatable last week and duly saluted and the third horse Rissoles will be very popular later in the program. Think he’s going to make into a classy sprinter. SILVER EYE caught the eye at trials. CLOSE AT HANDY has run well in both outings to date. MAGNASONIC has shades added and can muster into a spot. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – JOKERS GRIN WIN RACE 3 RISSOLES has the obvious form reference through Jokers Grin and Uukhai. She was finishing off strongly late over 1000m and looks even better suited here at 1300m second-up. Drawn to park midfield with cover in a capacity line-up and considering the volume of money that came for Uukahi last week ($2.80 into $1.80) expect that this filly will be very popular throughout betting. BOLTCO JACK went straight into the blackbook after a solid first-up performance for Team Fiore. Was in the worst part of the track at Bunbury that day and fought on well. LYN’S STAR ran second to Mai Aloha in her 2 year old trial and has a barrier and no weight. EVERLASTING SPIRIT has run well in both outings. Numbers: 12 – 1 – 16 – 10 Suggested Bet – RISSOLES WIN RACE 4 ON THE MARK arguably should have won on debut, definitely should have won at his second outing and then was outstanding in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind Another Strike who has since franked that form by running second to Rockin’ Rupert on a Saturday. With even luck he gets his chance to break through but he’ll need a good ride from Chris Nicoll. CANNY ROCK has promised to win one for a long time but has had genuine excuses at both runs this preparation. BIRD ON A WIRE was enormous at Bunbury. The fence was off and she was only gobbled up in the final stride. IFF YOU’RE READY ran a cheeky race on debut back in March at odds. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – ON THE MARK WIN RACE 5 TOROPA won well on debut as a 2 year old back in July 2023 when beating now Racouteur Stakes winner Brave Spirit. Hasn’t been seen for 357 days since which is a natural query but Vern Brockman has given her a 400m jump out and a 950m trial to prepare her for her return and from the barrier she should get every chance. MAGIC BELLE was only grabbed on the post at Northam and importantly gets back to 1000m. Will be there for a long way. TMYTHICAL MISS is the way that Joey Azzopardi has elected to go and off her fresh run behind Magicash must be respected. SAFEKEEPER trialled super but is a maiden in a C1 drawn wide. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – TOROPA WIN RACE 6 ROCKET JUICE has only won the once from 11 outings but has raced in higher grade than this since breaking his maiden at Bunbury. Since then he’s placed on 3 occasions in Saturday company and this campaign he resumed in a 66+ beaten only 2L by undefeated filly Twain’s Angel. Back into a C1, drawn to get every favour and maps a treat from barrier 4. Ticks all the boxes. CHOIXWAY went around a plunged $1.80 favourite the last time he raced in a Class 1. He’s still quite wayward when he doesn’t have the rail to follow. UNCLE GERARD just can’t find the right race / set up / map. HUGHBERT was better than it reads last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – ROCKET JUICE WIN RACE 7 PEARLY NUGGET has been solid without winning this campaign. Beaten a half head first-up at Bunbury on a Soft7 from the breeze with 59kg and then swamped late at Bunbury on a fence off meeting after again parking in the breeze with 58.5kg. SJ Miller puts a tongue tie on and from barrier 4 Brad Parnham has options. Third time lucky? KHUTOS has the speed to hold up leader’s back and from there enjoys a soft run. THE COOLAKIN KING ran really well in a C5 first-up at Northam. SNAZZLER is a more than handy galloper and has run well for apprentices on more than one occasion previously. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – PEARLY NUGGET WIN RACE 8 DEFIANT DIORITE is an honest campaigner and the entire Chris Willis yard has been going well for months (think Tallangatta, Beau Talk, Fleur Delacour, Right To Silence) – they’e all running consistently good races at eachway quotes and this galloper was a third palce getter behind Dance Boss and Chollima last start (beating home Celebrity Prince). Sneaks back into a C3, is proven on rain affected tracks and goes around eachway. IMA SINGLE GAL has been beaten big margins on Soft7 surfaces so she probably doesn’t want too much rain around but went to a new level last prep. KINGS CALL was a great pair of trials for the new stable. SIR EYRELTON got the job done last start in a maiden but this is much deeper. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – DEFIANT DIORITE EACHWAY RACE 9 RED DWARF was a solid return to racing when finishing off into third over 1400m at Northam. He gets back in his races so he’ll need the pattern of the day to allow for them to make ground but he’ll go round double figures and has been an honest performer for seasons now for owner/trainer Dom Celisano. GIFT OF THE HEART is brilliantly placed by Neville Parnham. Last 10 have been in higher grade and he’s a previous winner off 28 days so the spacing shouldn’t concern. CRUISE TO RIO is a filly with some upside who gets weight relief. STYLISH LORD is better than what he produced last start. Hopefully the shades help. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – RED DWARF EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,5 4 1,4,5,6,7,10,11 1,2,3,5,6,8,9 Market Market
