Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 19, 2023September 19, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MAKE YOUR POINT looks to have lobbed an ideal race to kick off his preparation. Went from an Albany maiden straight into 3 year old races when last in work and has form around the likes of Leniency, Supersession, Pot Shot and Ex Sport Girl. Jump and run type suited to drawing barrier 1 and kicking through to lead. LATE VINTAGE drops back into a C1 for the first time in his life. He’ll likely park outside of Make Your Point in running. BUSTERS FREE has a senior rider going back on and tries hard. ROCKARIA has his first start for the new yard. Blinkers off – start again. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAKE YOUR POINT WIN RACE 2 EMPRESS OF INDIA has run two credit fourths in Saturday company in the last month. She’s finished fourth behind Little Strawberry and subsequent winners Cut The Talk and Valency and then fourth behind Berbere and subsequent winner Celebrity Prince. Looks a nice map for her to track up behind a strong tempo (Sir Mambo/Mir/City Angel and Crypto Queen all jump run types). SOFIA’S SYMPHONY drops straight out the back to settle sixth of six and then winds up as she did at Northam when scoring. CITY ANGEL showed at Ascot last preparation that she can sit if they’re going to attack her. CRYPTO QUEEN returns from a long absence. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – EMPRESS OF INDIA WIN RACE 3 ARCADIA KNIGHT ran second on debut behind Twain’s Angel who went straight to a Saturday 3 year old Plate and smashed the clock (again). That maiden was run almost 6L faster than average so the market won’t miss him in betting. Looks like he’ll need an ounce of luck to find a back to follow in running so from a punting perspective it’s definitely risk vs reward on prices. MY AFFLICTION has put together four solid efforts on rain affected surfaces since resuming. Love the way he’s going and he’s drawn much better here. CAULDRON has been beaten margins but in better races than what he meets here. SEEYOUATTHESESSION was only fair at his return. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – ARCADIA KNIGHT WIN RACE 4 MASAMUNE resumes in a maiden off the back of an impressive 1000m trial alongside impressive debut winner Insyde Success. Massive on debut when doing everything possible wrong and then only just missed in a Saturday 2 year old race at his second career outing before being tipped out. Happy to follow that trial form through and suggest that he’s hard to beat first-up. PLEASURE CRUISE has improved at each and every trial appearance. Gets to the races after four trials and is drawn barrier 1. Looks a big striding type who would probably have preferred to draw wider to get some room to move. MAJOR MARIO is talented but can’t buy a barrier. PRIVATE SAPLING can roll forwards to park over the speed. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – MASAMUNE WIN RACE 5 IDENTIFIER was backed from $2.90 into $1.90 last start and loomed up powerfully on straightening before fading out to finish fifth. Live it appeared a moderate performance but in review the race time was 8L faster than average and she was simply gassed when she hit the front. Better with cover and given that Divine Judgement toyed with them on Sunday we’ll trust the form/times out of the race. LINDEN’S GOLD was really good late and through the line in a 3 year old Saturday last start. Drawn awkwardly but looks to have natural ability. DREAMSTOCK impressed at the trials under a junior rider and can hold a spot from a favourable alley. INTERVENTION and IDYLLIC RULER both get back but both trialled very nicely. Numbers: 8 – 11 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – IDENTIFIER WIN RACE 6 SCHNOOTS comes through the God’s Garden/Identifier/Divine Judgement race which was run at a ridiculously fast tempo. She’s proven herself at 1400m the last two and she’s again drawn to get a lovely tow into the race. Consistently going round eachway and running consistent eachway races. No star but she tries. MALKAR PINDARI has been costly throughout her career. Shades on first time but she seems to find one better than here every time she goes to the races. QUEENSLAND DIESEL looked to be bolting last start and was unable to push his way into the clear at any stage in the home straight. ROCKING THE CASBAH ran a ripper on debut from the breeze and can roll forward into a similar spot here. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SCHNOOTS EACHWAY RACE 7 ALL PLAY has impressed at trials. The most recent 1000m trail was behind Masamune and Insyde Success and with Insyde Success winning on debut on Monday running down the talented Tycoon Harry and hopefully Masamune running a big race earlier in the program we’ll follow the trial form through. Looks like there’s a tonne of speed here and he can park midfield and wind-up into the race. PLAYING GAMES has returned in good order. She’s won both of her barrier trials and looked sharp in each. LAST STYLEBENDER was in that same trial and never got clear galloping room. His 400m jump out in May was electric. PERCUSSION PRINCE covered the ground nicely when winning his trial. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALL PLAY WIN RACE 8 ARROW SONG has returned in good order. Both runs this time in have been solid and she should get the right run from the barrier with 55kg on her back. This race has a lot of last start maiden winners rising 3kg which could lend itself to a rough result and she’s been chasing hard in races with just as much depth as this. RUNFORROB comes back 50m and has a set of winkers going on. Honest effort from the top last start and should get a similar run. GOD’S GARDEN gets back out to 1650m but was strong through the line last start. BUCKETS RIDGE comes through a race run 7L slower than maiden average and the second horse was 100-1. Hard to line him up with any confidence. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – ARROW SONG EACHWAY RACE 9 FAST FLICKER was highly impressive at her return from a spell. She got to the line powerfully into fourth behind Paddy’s Flyin’ and Ruler Rocket and should be better suited second-up over 1200m as well as coming back in grade into a C1. Paul Harvey jumps on and she’ll likely settle alongside her main rival in Russian Sniper. RUSSIAN SNIPER finished fifth behind Little Strawberry, Cut The Talk, Valency and Empress of India. Already proven Saturday quality form and now he’s also back into a C1. CATCH THE RED EYE ran time at Northam and Deamber came out of that race and won impressively. MARINSKY BALLET is a capable mare fresh. Numbers: 12 – 4 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – FAST FLICKER WIN RACE 10 SABINO won fifth up last campaign and sneaks back in grade after finishing 2.5L off Valency, Desert Nymph and Famous Jurney last start. He maps to get a lovely run parked behind a genuine tempo and at double figures is worth consideration. BEATS OF WAR was a seriously good trial behind Indie Ruler. As soon as CJP asked him for an effort he accelerated and charged through the line. Keep safe at double figures. DEAMBER won well but this is a big rise in grade for her. EEVALINA has done nothing wrong in three runs for Danny Morton and enjoys a gun run leader’s back. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – SABINO EACHWAY RACE 11 DUN WITH THE BLUES is an emerging staying type for Team Pearce. She ate up the ground last start when stepping from 1300 to 1700 and looks like she’ll appreciate even further here. She’s drawn wide but a lot of these midweek staying events end up swooper dominated affairs and she’s got claims on the best turn of foot in the race. Happy to follow her. ETOMORP went close last start behind Coolgardie Cup runner up Ground Braker. He’s knocking on the door and is ready to win. RECALLED is likely to have some traffic issues to navigate at stages from barrier 1 in a capacity line-up. BANDALERA MISS is building nicely into her campaign. She’s getting close now. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – DUN WITH THE BLUES EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 8 – 11) 1,2,4,5,6,7,9 4,12 1,3,5,7,9,10 1,4,6 Market Market
