Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on April 30, 2024April 30, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WATCH ME ROCK and DIAMOND LIGHT did battle last start in a 1300m maiden at Pinjarra where WATCH ME ROCK was backed as if unbeatable from $1.80 into $1.26. Sadly that was not the outcome but here second-up with a 1kg weight swing in a 3 year old 0MWLY that isn’t overly deep thinking WATCH ME ROCK can turn the tables and record win number one. DIAMOND LIGHT again bounces straight to the top and controls the contest. Underrated filly. RED TORI sits back and if she shows the same turn of foot as last start she’ll be hard to hold out. LINDEN’S GOLD an improver second-up. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – WATCH ME ROCK WIN RACE 2 MY FURY should enjoy the run of the race from barrier 3. She won well last start in a very similar race (C5 1600) at Pinjarra where she settled leader’s back and then burst clear on straightening. Looks a similar map, similar level of opposition and should go close to producing a similar result. HERE FOR CHEQUES and OCEANZARA both come through the Fly With Caution / Fast Flicker race which is a sensational form reference dropping back into a midweek assignment. Both should get the runs they need to salute. SUPER ROMANI is first-up at 1600 but ran well fresh last campaign. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – MY FURY WIN RACE 3 JAZ SESSION has returned in excellent order this campaign having won back to back races up the straight at Pinjarra. Always difficult to line-up the straight track form around a bend however she’s showing speed and she’s showing toughness. This is a deeper race than last start but see no reason why she won’t measure up. Been a long time since one broke 57 seconds down the straight. LOST CITY is two from two undefeated and went straight from a Bunbury maiden to win a 3 year old 0MWLY at Belmont. Trial was sharp and she’s drawn to get all the favours. Hard to fault. KRYSANOVA is a proven weight carrier and will look to again jump and run. WILEY GIRL trialled well enough without blinkers for her return. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – JAZ SESSION WIN RACE 4 OCEAN OUTLAW comes through the Jaz Session 1000m straight race at Pinjarra Park that was run 5L faster than 3 year old 0MWLY average. Considering he carries the same weight in a maiden as he did in a higher grade last start and the speed figures out of that event you’d expect he’ll be fairly popular in betting. Always shown ability and has a turn of foot. MAXINE’S WISH returns to the races off a solid trial. If she reproduces her debut run behind Tycoon Harry she’s a genuine threat. LIFEISBUTADREAM has shown raw ability at trials. Still looks new and green but there’s a motor there. CAP CAVOUR next best. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – OCEAN OUTLAW WIN RACE 5 CITINO returned to maiden company last start a month between runs and toyed with moderate opposition. He sat back and unleashed a powerful turn of foot on a day where it was very difficult to make ground at Pinjarra. Has finished 2.5L off them in a 60+ Graduation over 1800m on a Saturday and looks a nice stepping stone for him to return to metro racing. KNOCKONEBACK and SELBY PARK were sectionally impossible from where they settled last Wednesday. First 1200m was run 16L slower than average and they both did decent jobs to get as close as they did in the finish. BEAU TALK steps out to 1800m and controls the speed. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CITINO WIN RACE 6 BELLE JOURNEE and LIEUTENANT DUNBAR met on 4 April and there was only three quarters of a length between them that day. They meet again here in the same grade, at the same distance and at the same weights (both rise half a kilo). Siding up with BELLE JOURNEE who ran well in a C5 last start behind My Fury (goes around in Race 2) last start and from the barrier she gets every chance and she’s eachway with Pike on. LIEUTENANT DUNBAR who had no luck last Wednesday at Pinjarra when blocked the entire home straight. DIVINE JUDGEMENT can go well fresh. MAJOR MARIO is going well but has an awkward draw. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BELLE JOURNEE EACHWAY RACE 7 ELBOW LOUNGE has returned to racing in excellent order. First-up he ran into Zangief who has since won a C3 and then last start he matched motors with undefeated 3 year old Richanco up the home straight. Third-up, drawn barrier 1 and likely to get a gun run close handy he should take beating. ALWAYS AWESOME was beaten 7L last start but it was behind undefeated filly Twain’s Angel and it was in a Saturday 3 year old 62+. This is much more to his liking. CHER has her first start for Mitch Pateman and can burn across. GOOD VIBES is also drawn wide but has speed. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – ELBOW LOUNGE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,6,11 2 1,2,3,6,8 1,2,6,8,9 Market Market
