Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on October 11, 2022October 11, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SWIM THROUGH looks likely to roll forwards and potentially park up outside of Does He Know. With the rail at 12m the safest bet is to follow those who are likely to settle right up over or close to the pace. Great effort last start behind Major Max and should be there abouts in an open and even race. BIRD’S THE WORD continues to race well. Comes through the same form race and should get a gun run along the fence. MAKE YOUR POINT gains the services of Shaun McGruddy. Had no luck on debut and had trialled well prior. Keep safe. DOES HE KNOW can find the front and control. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – SWIM THROUGH WIN RACE 2 NUNES gets one last chance coming into an All-Age maiden. Comes through the same Major Max, Swim Through, Bird’s The Word form race which is on show in the first event and if either of those two gallopers go well then it will look like strong form for a maiden. Gets in on the limit, shouldn’t get too far from them and has a turn of foot. INVINCIBLE STRIKE looks the logical danger. Gave a big kick first-up and should find the front again here. Big book for Brad Parnham. JUST A RUMOUR was well commissioned in a C1 first-up. Better suited into a maiden. FOREVER CLASSIC really caught the eye at trials. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – NUNES WIN RACE 3 MISS DRAKOVA finished third to Swear To God and Sesswa first-up last preparation in a 3 year old SWP on a Saturday, finished third to Tiffany Street and Lord Ganinicus second-up, finished second to Top Of the Pops third-up and rounded out her preparation when third behind Final Series as a beaten $1.40 pop. Trialled the house down and is well placed into an All-Age maiden with only 54kg. Should park up over the speed and stay out of trouble. KOSTA’S CROWN is struggling to find the right race. You would think he’s likely to be double nommed for the Saturday 3yo 1400 as he was a fortnight ago when scratched from Wednesday’s maiden. Clearly has ability but continuing to find sticky assignments. FLURO NEURO can lead and kick. FIELD OF BATTLE does a bit too much wrong. Numbers: 16 – 8 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS DRAKOVA WIN RACE 4 DIAMOND BLUE will go round big double figures and has claims at odds in this C1 event. Broke his maiden in a 3 year old 0MWLY and then raced in higher grade than this for the remainder of the preparation. His last run was only 3L off Warm ‘n’ Fuzzy, Via Monte and Alsephina. Liked his trial and is worth consideration at odds. RED HOT GOODS is no guarantee of crossing Bigdayonit in the early stages. If he has to sit in the breeze, he could be vulnerable at the odds on quote. BIGDAYONIT comes back to 1200m and is racing well. LUCKY LANDING can box seat and enjoy a soft run. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – DIAMOND BLUE EACHWAY RACE 5 CAPRICORN MAN is very well placed by Sean & Jake Casey into a C1. Is an all the way 2 year old SWP winner over 1200m at Ascot and you would think Keshaw Dhurun likely kicks through to lead this. Looks your typical Maschino who thrives on high speed, high pressure racing. EXCELTRAIN won on debut beating home subsequent winners Givemeonemorereason, Basil’s Dream, Primative and Rockport Miss. Should stalk the speed and goes round eachway. MAGICAL GEM an inclusion at odds. ANYOLDTIME won well at Belmont (Toodyay meeting). Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – CAPRICORN MAN WIN RACE 6 GRATIAS DEO is still quite new and raw and can do a few things wrong in the run. Got the better of them in a maiden first-up at 1200m beating home Storm Lord (winner at Kal on Cup Day) and Rustic Rose. Brad Rawiller was unable to fully test him last start in a C1 1600 behind Universal Vain and the wider draw looks far more suitable for him. Think he has a bit more upside than most of these. TUSCAN HOLIDAY hit the line behind Pepper Assault and Never Sober and that form reads up well after the weekend. WOODRUFF might need another but has staying ability. MR HOLLYWOOD is still a maiden but racing well. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – GRATIAS DEO WIN RACE 7 NO DICE looks like getting a gun run in this race that is full of speed on paper. Nights Mystery, Choice Bid, Oceanic Rider and Critical Altitude are all capable of going fast and from the draw No Dice should enjoy a midfield run with cover. Has a short, sharp turn of foot suited to sprint racing and ran well first-up in a 60+ Graduation. ROCKIN’ RUPERT is drawn a tough gate but he’s the class runner of the race. With the 3kg claim of Luke Campbell he looks very well in. STARS APLENTY was below his best last start. Can bounce back. CHOICE BID ran really well in a 66+ at Kal. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – NO DICE EACHWAY RACE 8 RECALLED is going through the grades nicely. Won a C1 first-up, won a 58+ at Kalgoorlie second-up and now steps into a 0MWLY 1800 at Ascot. From the draw he can park up in behind the speed and with both Count Grundy and Surveillance engaged it should be a genuine tempo throughout. Hard to knock him. SURVEILLANCE has finally come of age. His last three runs have all been excellent. Simply runs for Keshaw Dhurun. TIFF HAS SPOKEN hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a long while. Keep safe at odds. HE’S A LUCKY LAD was a winner in this grade at Belmont two starts ago. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – RECALLED EACHWAY RACE 9 MYSTICAL BABE has trialled well for her return to racing. A staying mare fresh at 1400m from a nice gate at an eachway price looks a reasonable way to attack this event. There’s a lot of clashing formlines and there probably isn’t much between the top 6 or 7 in the market. Open race and one of many chances. AIYZA and VITALIZE met last start in a C1 and there was nothing between them. Both step into C3 company and both should measure up. BANDALERA MISS held her own in a 1000m trial against Lexington City and Nero King. Don’t discount. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – MYSTICAL BABE EACHWAY RACE 10 PRAY AGAIN won a maiden at Belmont Park in November 2021. The second horse was Market Stryke (winner of 2 since) and the third horse was Westriver Miracle (winner of 5 since). He then went into a C3 1400 and won by over 2.5L and was thrown into the deep end 3 days later into the Group 2 WA Guineas. Nothing went right in his small preparation when last in work and his trial behind stablemate Bustler was a ripper. Think he follows Mong Khon across and finds a prominent position. Hard to beat. TIFF’S LAD has been beaten narrow margins first-up and second-up. Getting close. ROCH LEGACY can sprint well fresh. ETOMORP has an X-Factor about him. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – PRAY AGAIN WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1,2,4,6,7,8 2,5,6,7,9 2,4,7,8,9,11 1,6 Market Market
