Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on March 8, 2022March 9, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GIVEMEONEREASON looks to have a few gears in the opening event and looks to extend the run of the powerful S.A Miller yard as he finally starts to unveil some of his precocious juveniles. On the same day as Amelia’s Jewel trailled Givemeonereason trailled and ran a significantly faster time. Looks ready made and strikes a winnable race. SHOOTING KONTIKI hit the line well first-up and has a senior rider going on. STAR POWER wants to really run. Brings back memories of an early Express Time. Neville Parnham fixed her with ear-muffs and goes to the pre-race ears with Star Power. RATHMINE LADY finished off her trial well. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GIVEMEONEREASON WIN RACE 2 PALE RIDER went 45 days from his maiden win into the Fairetha Stakes when finishing only 1.5L off It’sarayday. Then progressed to the WA Guineas when never getting into the race and finished off his small campaign with a narrow second in a 2000m C1 with 60.5kg. Loved his recent trial behind a relatively quick sprinter in Famous Jurney and from the gate should get a nice run midfield with cover. Looks to have some class about him. Nice race for him and goes round a price. FIRST MISSILE hasn’t been seen for 6 weeks since toying with C1 rivals. Looks to have more room for improvement and is worth following. CATALPA ran really well first start for the new yard when sitting deep and just kept coming. MUSSA broke her maiden well but this is harder. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – PALE RIDER EACHWAY RACE 3 SNIPPY MISS certainly doesn’t win out of turn (3 from 39 and 1 from 21 at Ascot) but she’s a model of consistency and when she draws an inside gate to get a soft run tucked away behind the leaders she’s a live chance in everything she contests. Incredible training effort considering the mare is having her 18th run of the campaign which dates back to May of 2021. Consistent recent form and there isn’t much between Westspeed Platinum and C3 grade. KOHLI has met with huge backing on occasion since arriving in WA. Form around Eeyore Wayz, Phanta, Great Charade and Phoneme. Shouldn’t be too long until he breaks through. TIME SCALE is her own worst enemy. On raw ability she still goes close but is doing a lot wrong. CELEBRITY MISS was a first-up winner last preparation and went on with it. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SNIPPY MISS WIN RACE 4 MY BOY CHRIS should be afforded every mortal opportunity by an in form Shaun McGruddy in this event. Drawn barrier 3, has tactical speed and should be primed third-up from a spell. Ran well fresh behind Dazzling Dane (subsequent C1 winner and good run in a 60+ Graduation) and then ran into Mussa last start who looks a handy filly in the making. Can stalk the speed and looks hard to beat. LEXINGTON CITY has trialled up well over two campaigns and when Simon Miller’s yard is in form, invariably they’re all in form at the same time. Keep safe on debut. MISSILE attacked the line well first-up and second-up and now has a set of shades added. BETTER IN KIT wasn’t that far off My Boy Chris last start. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – MY BOY CHRIS WIN RACE 5 PRINCE DEVOUTLY hasn’t won for a long while but neither have a few in this field. First start for Danny Morton and drops back into a C3 event. Went around hard in the market at almost every outing last campaign and ran well under a 3kg apprentice on almost every occasion. Talented type who can park over the speed. Won’t get a better chance than this to open his Morton account with a win. NUHAD was nothing short of enormous last start when attacking the leader throughout and going down in the final hundred to Katona. Final Authority was $2.25 to her inside and he put up the white flag beaten 6.7L. LOVE DRUNK BABY comes through the same race and meets her 1.5kg better. Always shown ability. ZENAZE comes back to Ascot and is looking to turn back the clock. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRINCE DEVOUTLY WIN RACE 6 MANY MANSIONS ran well at Pinjarra on Magic Millions Day only 2.5L off Tradem’ In, Spirited Session, Gallant Ranger and Co and then was off the track throughout last start in what has turned into a good winner producing race (Stella Fair and Strike Now both winners since). Laqdar Ramoly takes over, can settle right over the speed and has clearly returned to racing in good form. Should get every chance. PENNY’S AFIELD is a lightly raced mare with a turn of acceleration. She’ll be clearing C1 grade sooner rather than later. If the conditions are three deep cover then she’ll be popular. GAMBLER’S GOLD is well weighted after the claim. Not an easy gate to navigate though. DRAMA FREE ran well last start and kept coming through the line. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – MANY MANSIONS WIN RACE 7 BLACK FANTASY picks himself on paper. First-up he was eye catching when weaving a passage through late in the 3 year old Pinjarra Magic Millions and then he ran home nicely behind the undefeated Rokanori at his second-up assignment. Has shown tactical speed in the past so he should take full advantage of the inside draw and this looks a very winnable race for him. Might find himself chiming into the Melvista should he win this. PICCOLA SIGNORA was back to her best last start. She’s got a turn of foot, just isn’t always on show. FEAR THE WIND beat up on moderate opposition last start. Won in style and has shown staying ability in previous preparations. LUKE’S CHOICE is going well. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLACK FANTASY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10 1,3,5 1,2,3,5,6 1,7 Market Market
