Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on October 26, 2021October 26, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SUCCESS PLAY finally broke through last start after being competitive in much stronger 3 year old Plate company prior to his maiden win. Half a length off Secret Deploy at 1400m, 2L off Red Fifty Three at 1400m and now stepping out to a mile. Looks like he’ll see out the trip, the only query (for all of them) is how they handle the wet Ascot surface. Maps to get the run of the race and looks to have plenty of upside. MAHALEO was gifted the perfect run by Beaux Edwards last start when shooting up the inside of Kolchino to score. Rises in weight and quality of opposition but does look to have ability. TWICE LUCKY found a very weak C1 and broke back into the winner’s circle last start. PRINCE OF GUELPH was fair last start over further. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – SUCCESS PLAY WIN RACE 2 MARKET STRYKE went round at 40-1 on debut and made Success Play earn the victory. We’ll see the quality of that form in Race 1 and if it holds up then he’ll likely be popular with punters at start number 2. Drawn underneath Kolchino so if he does come out positive can slide across underneath the other logical pace maker and enjoy a soft run over the speed. FLOWER IN THE WIND was backed strongly at her return to racing last Wednesday off the back of a hot trial performance. Didn’t fire a solitary shot, however, on review the race was turned into a sit and sprint which didn’t suit the backmarkers. KOLCHINO is clearly a work in progress but clearly a horse with natural ability. PRAY AGAIN couldn’t run down Belle’s Fantasy fresh but should improve for the run. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – MARKET STRYKE WIN RACE 3 PASSION PRINCE had to dig deep in the final strides to hold off Dias who flashed late after being held up for the majority of the home straight. She made the form look good last week at Northam when winning and he steps out to 1500m which looks far more suitable. Drawn a gate to enjoy the run of the race and looks like he’ll be winning plenty of races along the way for Peters Investments. ZADAR ROCK drops back from a C3 into a C1 and even drops 1.5kg in weight. Expecting Holly Watson to allow him to run, provided he doesn’t spin the wheels early like he did on debut on a soft7. ALL ON BLACK is going well and the Spritely Star/Buzzoom C1 form reads up well. KENTUCKY BLUE was ridden to perfection by Steve Parnham last start. Interesting to see how gate 1 serves him. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – PASSION PRINCE WIN RACE 4 TREVERN is going through the grades nicely and the way he skipped along throughout on a soft6 at Northam to break his maiden status suggests he’ll be hard to beat here. He and Shock Result should ensure this is run at strong tempo throughout and they might just get the chasing brigade out of their comfort zone on the rain affected track. CAPTAIN BURGLAR has some solid 3 year old form against his name from his last preparation and seems to go well fresh. Senior rider on and drawn to get a nice run. MY BLUEBOY finds a suitable race and thrives in the wet. SHOCK RESULT is quick and will be there for a long way. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – TREVERN WIN RACE 5 SAFETY FUSE was thrown in the deep end by trainer Danny Morton last start going from a maiden straight into a C3 and a very good C3 at that. Finished fifth behind Treasured Star, Pick Your Battles, Ghost Who Walks and Storm Commander after racing wide throughout working. Ghost Who Walks has since run well at Northam and Treasured Star likely goes round favourite in the Burgess Queen on Melbourne Cup Day. Back into a C1 she gets her chance in an open and even race. CROSS STATEMENT will again have to work early to cross to the fence. From there he enjoys rolling and making them all chase. SPARKLING BLUE is undefeated and trialled quietly recently at Lark Hill. ELECTRIC ROSE is showing a sharp turn of foot in her racing. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – SAFETY FUSE EACHWAY RACE 6 GINGER FLYER has been a model of consistency throughout her career and is proven on the wet tracks. Showed last start that she is versatile and if something wants to roll (ie Beaucount) then she is more than capable of sitting in behind the leader and bursting through late to win. Holly Watson’s 3kg claim gives Simon Miller the opportunity to pinch another midweek type of race before she heads to a genuine Saturday race. STANDOUT ROSE is no slouch and with clear running she’ll be charging late. Her final 400m to run down runaway leader Native Chimes was outstanding and she’s ready to string a few together. LORDHELPMERUN has the dreaded bars on but his first run for Michael Grantham was a ripper. ZERO DEMERITS hasn’t seen a race like this for 18 months and may be forgotten in the market. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – GINGER FLYER EACHWAY RACE 7 INDOMINUS backs up off 7 days from a relatively strong effort in defeat behind Wee Ripper in a C5 at Northam. Steps out to 1800m and reunites with Jordy Turner who guided him to victory four runs back. The majority of rivals here are rising in grade and he looks well placed back into a C3. Looks like there will be a three deep train and if he can join the moving line and get a tow into the race, he can definitely play a part in the finish. RED HOT HOPE broken maiden status in a 3-way photo with Hoover and subsequent 60+ Graduation winner Atlantis Beach. Much like Indominus he will need the 3 wide line to start building from the 800. JADAVI is another back marker who will be doing her best work late. Savaging the line recently. CHOKSLAM was impressive at York two starts back. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – INDOMINUS EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3 1,6,7,8,11 1,2,5,7,10,11,12 1,2,4,6,7,9 Market Market
