Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on January 19, 2021January 19, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 IN THE BOAT was truckloaded at the shorts on debut and duly saluted, winning eased down by 2.5L running away from them. This race is harder but provided Hefel can kick through underneath the other speed horses to lead from the inside gate then he should again take a power of beating. No flash price but looks progressive. GRACEFUL GIRL is the other chance and if conditions do allow them to make ground she’ll make a contest of it late. Strong win last start and let down like a nice horse. CHAMPAGNE DIVA might need to breeze outside the hot pot but is honest. GUNMETAL GREY was the beneficiary of a Paul Harvey special last start. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – IN THE BOAT WIN RACE 2 MEXI COLA brings different form lines to most of these, and in the midweek staying ranks that is often a good thing. Won with 60kg two starts ago when fresh at 1400m when running straight past Webster pair Indominus and Dad’s Bigheaded in a handy C3 at Northam. Then went into Saturday grade when getting back and never really impacting behind Regal Magic and subsequent Saturday winner No Surrender. Can stay and should get the right run. MELARAB has blinkers added and Fred Kersely has been fairly public in his view that we’ll see the best of him at a staying trip. SHAKE THE BLOOM is going well for a new yard. AXEL R EIGHT is better than what he showed last start. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – MEXI COLA WIN RACE 3 REAL CHARISMA took a fair bit of winding up in a recent 950m trial but once she hit top gear did run through the line powerfully. You’d be brave taking $1.50 about a filly on debut who looks like she’ll be three back the fence in traffic but she also strikes a very moderate line-up. GINGER SENORITA trialled well for her return and wasn’t disgraced down the straight. HOT ZED went well last start when rolling to the top. Seemed to hit the running and lose momentum at the ~600 and did a good job to run second. Looks the danger if Parnham can navigate an awkward draw. YARDMAN trialled up well for his return. Numbers: 13 – 10 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – REAL CHARISMA WIN RACE 4 DASH DOLL is looking to keep her undefeated record intact. Won well on debut when allowed to stride on a heavily leader bias day. Some were naturally going to query that run but she still ran them into the ground 2.5L faster than maiden average and looked to have ability. Had to do it tougher last start when sitting outside subsequent winner Gunmetal Grey and getting the better of her. Likely has to breeze again but has guts. DOWNFORCE hasn’t seen a race of this nature in his entire career. Brilliantly placed by Nifty Nev. MISS IVY LEAGUE stalked Champagne Diva and got the better of her last start. Could well find the front if that’s the way the track is playing. ADVOCATOR has been going better than numerical form suggests and Pike jumps on. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – DASH DOLL WIN RACE 5 MYSTERY MAN is likely to go round $4+ with highly spruiked goldfields galloper Iseered Iseered entered in the race. Trialled well at Lark Hill and then took it to the races when dominating them down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra in a stylish and professional display. Clearly this race is tougher and he might run into one out of the box, but if he can get across without burning too much fuel then he looks more than capable of causing the minor upset. ISEERED ISEERED was an old school Kalgoorlie plunge over the traditional annual race round. Only horse anyone wanted to talk about and the entire town got beer money for the week. Looks very promising. FISH HOOK is kept fresh and can sit over the speed. AMBERGATE ROSE won well on debut. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – MYSTERY MAN WIN RACE 6 BOLD SUCCESS has been a bit of a non-winner throughout his career but going through his last three or four runs he is nearly in career best form. Beaten an eyelash four starts ago from near last when charging past Our Idyll. Complete forgive run in a high rating edition of the Grandstand Cup. Massive when wide the trip and charging late in this grade two starts ago at Bunbury. Hit the line hard against the pattern last start with that race already producing a subsequent winner (Bombardment). Finally draws a gate and likely opens double figures. MISTY LAD only comes from an Esperance 58+ but that race has been one of the hottest form reference races of the season. FIRESALE drops from Saturday grade and has been going particularly well. SCOOTER’S MACHINE always a blow out chance if conditions suit. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – BOLD SUCCESS EACHWAY RACE 7 PRIZED MISS was given a soft run on debut in a tiny little field of 4. Sat leader’s back, go the cutaway run and got the chocolates. That form has really held up through What About Moi who won impressively last week and the third horse Smashing had been competitive in C3 and 3 year old features throughout her campaign. Drops weight into a C1 against the older horses and should be winning. INTERSTATE ran well last start and should get the box seat position. PRECAUTIONARY has tapered off. She’s better than her last few suggest. Back to 1400m might be key. IRRITABLE RODNEE trialled really well but was only moderate first-up. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRIZED MISS WIN Quaddie (R4 – R7) 1,4,7 5,6 1,4,5,6,7,10 10 Market Market
