Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on December 22, 2020December 22, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 OUR DANNI is well placed back into 3 year old midweek company and after the claim looms as the one to beat. Back at Belmont ran 3rd in a high rating Saturday 3 year old 1000 behind Gemma’s Son before running into Kissonallforcheeks, First Law, Sassy Trader, Chantorque, Charleton Eddie, All Day Session, Madam Torio and a host of other quality 3 year olds. Took on the older horses last start at 1200 and was far from disgraced. 1000m looks her go, gets in well weighted after the claim and is drawn to get all the favours. JANAURA seems to be becoming more and more versatile with age. No longer just jump and run. RED INFERNO trialled particularly well. CHOICE BID was bitterly disappointing first-up. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – OUR DANNI WIN RACE 2 TAMBORA is a 3 year old taking on the older horses on debut at 1500m but in a very similar vein to last week (Rebel Heart $6.50 into $2.70) could be the best horse in the race taking on exposed opposition with the luxury of only carrying 56.5kg in a set weights maiden. Doesn’t need to be a star to be winning this. SHADOW SHIFTER has knocked on the door his entire career but had more than ample opportunities to salute. ANGEL WHISPER hasn’t fired a shot this preparation but go back to the previous campaign and his efforts were good enough. RAGTIME BAND wasn’t horrible first-up. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – TAMBORA WIN RACE 3 SUNSET CRUISE was out to 2000m for the first time in her career last start when contesting a C3 at Pinjarra. Drops back to 1800m, drops back into C1 company, gains the services of William Pike and can sit right over the moderate tempo and prove too classy. In a field of non-winners she should prevail. REVEUSE was in the same race as her at Pinny and was equally as luckless. May have forgotten how to win that’s the issue. I AM THE SHERIFF looked like he was going to deadheat with the ambulance at the 800 last week but amazingly kept coming under the vigour of Jerry Noske. ACERMETRIC has a horror gate to overcome but has reasonable race form. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SUNSET CRUISE WIN RACE 4 EXCERPT has been freshened up and in a story of the meeting is yet another lightly raced 3 year old taking on the older horses. Only two starts ago tramped three deep the trip when third behind Solaia and Angelic Miss. Last start ran into All Day Session and Leica Jaguar (who is now a C3 and 0MWLY winner). Pike on, drawn well, hard to tip against. JAGUAR GREY is a talented mare resuming. Didn’t seem to handle any rain affected ground at Belmont so if you take her off her Good4 outings she’s a danger. KATONA didn’t look interested first-up but drops in grade. BURNING BULLET trialled nicely for his return. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – EXCERPT WIN RACE 5 MY BLUEBOY comes up in grade from a C1 to a C3 but this race does profile very similar to his first-up win. Stacks of speed drawn in various parts of the line and both noted front running horses and jockeys to ensure a hot tempo. Chris Parnham should land in a near identical position and he is an improving type. TINTO BELLE savaged the line first-up but will need to do similarly here from likely 10th of 10 in the run. NOBELIUM can be forgiven for one below par performance. The rest of his form is sound. NOBEL TIME an improver if you can forgive and forget her horrendous last campaign. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – MY BLUEBOY WIN RACE 6 OUQBA TED drops from a particularly high rating 66+ containing subsequent winner Adornment as well as place getters Midnight Blue, British Bessy, Morning Song, Sugar Cain and Aragain. Drops in grade, drops in weight, shades applied and gets a significant weight swing on Secret Pearl from their last encounter. SECRET PEARL is in form and charging through the grades. The way she is going she’ll be hard to beat again. BELLA’S IDOL did it particularly tough last start when absolutely truck loaded in betting. SAFE TO MAKEUP is finally starting to show the staying ability we saw glimpses of as a filly. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – OUQBA TED EACHWAY RACE 7 SIGNIFICANT HERO was a flop last start when beaten fair and square into third behind Son Son and Ghost Who Walks. Certainly not the top notch performance expected but you can always be forgiving of the Cerise and White horses who don’t find cover. Likely to get a smother here and a genuinely run race behind Ginger Flyer. No surprise to see him bounce straight back. #herewegoagain. GINGER FLYER will be reliant on a leader heavy pattern. Usually they make ground with rail 14m but the conditions may well off set that (39 degrees and Easterly winds). SPECIALISM has been going well in arguably harder races than this. BRUTUS MAXIMUS will hit the line. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – SIGNIFICANT HERO WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 7,8 1,3,4,5,10 1,2,3,8 9 Market Market
