Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on October 23, 2018October 24, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 WAKAN TANKA has had 10 cracks at it and is never far away. This is a fairly deep and even maiden and with the rail out at 10m it may be safest to play an on speed runner in the opener. BEL MY PAGO was crunched on debut and charged home once the bird had flown. Looks likely to get a long way back again. PRINCESS PIERRO will find this much more suitable at 1200m and Chris Parnham is reunited with the filly. PERCEIVE could be forgotten by the market and ran nice races earlier in the prep. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 11 – 14 Suggested Bet – WAKAN TANKA EACHWAY Race 2 THE NINTH HOUR was big first-up no trial last preparation in a Saturday graduation race which has turned out to be a hot form reference. If Noske can get him into a striking position he will be hard to beat. Blinkers on and stable in white hot form. NICKLE QUEEN should go close to finding the front and from there is the one to run down. FESTIVAL MISS is one from one but the two recent trials left a lot to be desired. LADY LATTE has a nice turn of foot on her day. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – THE NINTH HOUR WIN Race 3 FAIRY FAST is undefeated after two fairly soft wins. This is arguably a tougher assignment but is drawn to perfection in a race with a lot of speed. Should be given every chance. COCKATIEL is still a maiden but has a stack of ability. Form as a 2 year old clearly good enough to win this. DRIFTSTAR may just be a trial star. He was very soft first-up. ALCINA gets a 5.5kg weight swing on Don’s Legacy and would take catching if Bennett found the front. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – FAIRY FAST WIN Race 4 VERDELLO BLUE drops back in grade and looks likely to lob into his favourite position, outside the lead. The old boy has been going well and this is definitely winnable. GOLD ARTISAN backs up off just 4 days from Saturday and if Alan Kennedy gives him a similar run in transit to what he did on the weekend he should be right in the finish again. THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN is going well enough to break his long run of outs and draws soft. MAGIC LAS VEGAS is rarely far from the winner. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – VERDELLO BLUE EACHWAY Race 5 CUP NIGHT simply could not have been more impressive at his most recent. The track was heavily leader bias and he made up a stack of ground. Rail at 10m means the leaders will be skipping away but if he can settle closer from the draw can get over them. WEST FIFTY FOURTH ran into one who is in career best form at his most recent. Always honest and in the mix. MISTY LAD trialed like a bomb and may have come back bigger and better. Might be worth following. M’LADY should get conditions to suit and race right on the speed. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – CUP NIGHT WIN Race 6 SHAPITA should get across from the outside and at worst sit in the breeze. She could even clear them out and find the fence which would make her hard to beat. REGAL POWER is right at the pointy end of the Guineas market and will open short for a get back runner in a big field. ROGAN SCENT drops back in grade and if Staeck somehow finds a position in running that isn’t five deep then she should definitely improve. THISAWAY will be winding up deep late. Numbers: 12 – 14 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHAPITA EACHWAY Race 7 UNIKAT gets a wonderful opportunity to go straight from maiden grade into a weak class 1 event. Has the speed to lead and looks like he will only get better with racing. RED SNITZ was a strong late finisher up along the fence first-up at a mile and looks the danger. LADY SASS has strong maiden form alongside some quality 3 year old types. Last start win was strong. NICCONI’S BOY may be better suited back in trip and draws to box seat. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 14 – 6 Suggested Bet – UNIKAT WIN Race 8 BLUE TRACER looks to have finally put it all together. Was a big winner last start when ridden to perfection by Jarrad Noske. Expect him to settle in a similar spot and pull out deep for his run at the 600. DOLUSKY has come back very well from a long lay off. Gets the run of the race if she can hold a position. THE BIG SHOW finds the front for an apprentice who pays the rent by booting home leaders. BURGER TIME has an X-Factor about him and could be in for a big prep. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – BLUE TRACER WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,5,7,8,10 2,7,10,12,14 10 3,4,5,8,10 Market Market
