Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on March 17, 2026March 17, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HOYA DESTROYER has been a work in progress across his entire 7 start career to date. His first-up effort behind Champagne Crusader was a ripper when held up until the 200 and working through the line strongly. He’s now out to a more forgiving 1400m and should land 1×1. The only issue he faces is potentially over-racing in a small field without much pace. Fingers crossed he settles because he’s the best horse in this race. ZORBRIST might be able to work his way around them and cross to the top. From there Brad Parnham controls and dictates to them. COME ON EMMA is now a long time C1 mare but she’s rarely far from the action. EXTREME LOVE didn’t win a race last prep for new trainer Mitch Pateman but nearly every run had merit. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – HOYA DESTROYER WIN RACE 2 PEACEFUL RULER had to dig deep at Pinjarra on the Scarpside to reel in the leader on a day where making ground was nearly impossible. He now steps into a 3 year old midweeker without any real additional strength or depth to it and expecting that he’ll be hard to hold out and quite popular in betting. SO MUCH SERENITY was added back into this race late when final acceptance numbers fell right away and with the booking of Pike and the fact she’ll get things her own way in front, expect she’ll have her fair share of admirers. Took a big step from a maiden to a 3 year old Saturday and wasn’t disgraced. SWIFT TALKER trialled super and then endured a tough run fresh. Shades on second-up and drawn to box seat then cutaway. SKY POET will get ground. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – PEACEFUL RULER WIN RACE 3 MR KAPLAN was scratched from Saturday to save for this. That move, the fact that Pike jumps ship off Afireofgidgeecoals to ride and more importantly that the trial form really stood up on Saturday with Jedi Dream winning and Lady Torque running second suggests she’s worth being aboard on debut. AFIREOFGIDGEECOALS had nothing go right on debut. He was three deep the trip, no cover and was the first horse beaten. She drew 9/9 that day and was a $4.20 second favourite on a Saturday in a race that contained Aurum Belle and Snow Monkey. Can bounce back. FLYING SWAGMAN trialled up well for his debut, just needs to overcome a tricky draw on paper. DIVINE MIRAGE comes on from the debut performance at Bunbury. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – MR KAPLAN WIN RACE 4 NEWHAVEN PRINCE and KAT FIVE went toe to toe in a 1400m maiden at Pinjarra on the Scarpside from the top of the home corner and they battled it out between themselves. Third-up he has a set of shades added and finds another equally weak (or even weaker) maiden at 1500m. Looks a great chance to break his duck against limited opposition. INVASORE is arguably the danger on paper and he’s coming out of a maiden handicap at York. Will keep winding up and the winner of that race did win again on Sunday (albeit a 46+). LUNA BALLET kept coming behind Safedeel two back and then was fair behind Sovereign Salute last start. On the end of her distance limit? QUEEN SELYSE was beaten fair and square in an Albany maiden but this isn’t actually any deeper. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – NEWHAVEN PRINCE WIN RACE 5 TYCOON DREAMER broke her maiden impressively first-up and then got shuffled back to midfield in a C1 1200 when beaten nearly 3L by Miss Valmalenco. Hit a flat spot at the 200 last start but thought she was coming again on the line, on a day where the fence was worth lengths. Shades go on, back to being ridden for pace, this looks a nice set up for her to again run well. MR KISSINGER had vets excuses at Bunbury on Cup Day and prior to that was competitive in a C1 with more depth than this behind Just Walter John and Ganster Goddess. Pike back on for the first time since his dead-heat victory. PUBLICISE trialled really well at Lark Hill before being thrown into a 3 year old Plate fresh. MELODY FAIR caught the eye late on debut after nearly tailing out at the 500. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – TYCOON DREAMER WIN RACE 6 NEW TARGET has just returned bigger and better this time around. Neville Parnham has found her a C3 to take on the older horses and if she shows the same turn of foot at Ascot as she has displayed at Belmont first-up and second-up then she’ll be hard to hold out again. SPICY THANG is a 2x 1000 winner and is being presented by Luke Fernie first-up, no trial. That formula has produced recent winners Slip The Jab, Dancewithme and Gangster Goddess who have all received their fair share of support in betting and duly saluted. Big market watch. NICCIMOTA has raced in higher grade her last six outings and she’s a 60+ Graduation winner in a C3. Great placement. DOOR BUSTER is green but has ability. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – NEW TARGET WIN RACE 7 MYZOOM should enjoy the run of the race. If Highly Spoken and Aitch Montana kick through that should allow Laqdar Ramoly to park and ride the speed and then use the cutaway zone to pick a gap through on straightening. Only has a short kick and is suited to that box seat style run. These horses won’t get a better opportunity within 150km of Perth to pinch a C1 than this. MISS VEUVE was a 100-1 by the time that race rolled around at Pinjarra last week. It was a leader’s paradise and she’s a natural backmarker. All things considered, after missing away, settling rearwards and pulling wideset on straightening she actually did a good job to close the gap to under 6L. AITCH MONTANA finds this 10L easier than the Ascot 1000 Guineas behind Wonderfully Made, Masmelo and Admire Astra. PRODUCTIVE drops noticeably in grade. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – MYZOOM EACHWAY Market Market
