Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on August 13, 2026 | Posted by Chris Nelson Race 1 Racing at Rosehill on Saturday with the first feature race of the new season to take place, the Listed Rosebud for the 3yo’s, plenty to look forward to there. Weather & track look ok, should be a good surface or very close to it. We get things underway with a 1500m Midway where it’s tough to tip against last start winner (5) ATTRACTIVENESS who dropped back to this level when running clear of her rivals to the line. Siena Grima jumps on & with her 2kg claim the mare will carry only half a kilo more than that last start win & again jump from an inside gate. (1) CUBAN CIGAR looms as the main danger should there be one. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet: ATTRACTIVENESS TO WIN. Race 2 I’ll go with (3) STEEL WILL here however the early market has him at very short odds, not the kind of odds I’d be launching into. Yes, he was dominant first up however he should have been taking on only average opposition as a $1.45 shot, basically he won as expected. Debut placing was sound, the Kindergarten run I don’t really know what to make of. (2) THRILL HUNTER should appreciate 1300m whilst (1) PLAGIARISM has the strongest form lines, this is a big class drop for him. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 3 Absolute raffle of a Highway this one! (2) BROOKLYN LIGHTS draws ideally for Zac Lloyd as he’s a galloper who races right up on speed. He’s raced here once previously when beaten less than a length at this level back in January as a $101 shot. He’ll certainly give a sight! (17) ZOUSANITY is flying, another to draw well. Definite respect for the lightly raced (14) VALEDOR with J. Mac up. Numbers: 2 – 17 – 14 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 4 (11) LEOVANNI has really hit form winning three straight before closing off late at Randwick last Saturday beating all bar the winner. The 1900m isn’t a drama & he again gets in with a light weight, at the early odds on offer certainly appeals on an each-way basis. Certainly include (1) SIMBURGH should he run here however he has also accepted for Caulfield where he has a jockey engaged (not the case here). (6) CONCORDIA WIND holds a good strike rate drops in weight off the last start win. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet: LEOVANNI EACH-WAY. Race 5 (5) GLISSANDRO is 2 from 3 with the defeat coming on a heavy (9) track which is certainly forgivable. Her 2 wins this prep have been from the front dashing clear in the straight & whilst she is taking the rise to Saturday grade today the manner she’s going about her wins suggests she can measure up & is certainly in the right yard to do so. (10) MID YA BIZZ backs up from last Saturday when going down in a blanket finish at decent odds, consistent all prep can run well again. (3) AISLE TWO ran well fresh & should take good benefit from the run. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet: GLISSANDRO TO WIN. Race 6 Very tricky looking race with the similarly named (1) SHE’S AN ARTIST & (13) STREET ARTIST bringing southern form to the race, as it stands they sit on top of the early markets. I’m staying local & going with (10) COUPLES RETREAT however the confidence levels aren’t high. She’s consistent with a good record here at this trip & should slot across ok from the draw. (1) SHE’S AN ARTIST had big wraps on her right from day one, she bolted in her first two starts showing a terrific turn of foot, she hasn’t lived up to that early hype however I wouldn’t be surprised to see her ridden cold with cover & come with a big rush late. (3) POLYGLOT can be forgiven for last start, expect improvement here. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 3 – 13 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 7 Suggest the speedy (5) HAWKER HALL will find the front without any competition here & that’s going to see him very hard to get past in the straight. An all the way winner at Randwick first up he drops a little in weight & J. Mac sticks. If races were run on paper he’d be well into red figures. (3) GRAND IMPACT ran well first up chasing home Roselyn’s Star, note that galloper was beaten clearly by HAWKER HALL back in January on the Gold Coast which is yet another tick for the top selection. (6) TORQUE TO BE SURE will be running on late, well worth including in all exotics. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet: HAWKER HALL TO WIN. Race 8 The Listed Rosebud is the race of the day with a large number of new season 3yo’s to go around. With most resuming & with perhaps long spring preps ahead it’s a race we will learn plenty from. (6) BLUE DOOR really impresses me, she could end up being well above average, her debut win sitting on speed in the Kindergarten was excellent holding off a rival who has big wraps on him for the spring (The Next Episode). Immediately spelled he’s come back & split Gangsta Granny & Yellow Jersey in a recent trial under no pressure. Drawn well she looks ready for a big return. (3) CENTRAL EUROPE will have his supporters & that’s more than fair enough, just feel he will find this too short, I have no doubt he’ll be storming home late however may run out of ground & time. No knock (7) CHILLY GIRL who scored well on debut, trials have been sound. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet: BLUE DOOR TO WIN. Race 9 (11) ALTHOFF was a cracking run first up at Rosehill charging home down the outside of the track over the concluding 200m to run down all bar the winner. On a day which was dominated by on speed runners close to the inside this one completely bucked that trend & here he is fitter with no weight, a favourable draw & Zac Lloyd to steer. (3) FULLY LIT resumes with 3 trials under the belt, a decent fresh record & also a good draw, should be ready to go, he raced in some hot company last prep. (1) ATTICA also brings strong form lines, market watch here. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 10 Tough race to wind up the day. I’ll lean to (4) MR VERSE who brings Victorian form lines. His first up effort at Flemington was a good one making ground, he’s a horse who always clocks a strong late sectional, the only run he didn’t was three back when tried over further (2000m). The weight doesn’t look concerning; he should figure prominently in the finish. (10) TARZING gave away too much start last Saturday, can’t see that being the case here, in terrific form prior he can bounce back into the money. (9) STEEL STRIKE & (8) SILVANITO in the mix as well. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet: MR VERSE EACH-WAY. Market Market
