Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on August 13, 2026August 13, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram Race 1 Working around track being a Soft 7. Speed galore in the opening event, most of it coming from out wide. Like the map for NAVAL ACADEMY sitting in behind them, a big gross animal getting better with each run should be at his top and can give this a shake if he gets the split. One of three Maher-trained runners. EDUCATED is a classy mare suited at 1100m, jumpouts have been ok, prefer to see her fresh from a tricky barrier. FUNDAMENTAL NATURE is progressive and jumped out nicely to in the mix first-up. SAVOYARD scratched from a more suitable race last week, has talent, need a push from the yard first-up. Selections: 3,9,10,12 Suggested Bet: NAVAL ACADEMY 1 x 3 Race 2 SIMURGH looks the best of Craig Williams good book on Saturday. The import returns from a let-up but has jumped out twice to keep him ticking over some early spring riches. Without much pressure Williams can cross and go forward and trail MY ROCA FELLA who gets a soft lead. LEONCHROI caught the eye second-up hitting the line and should be peaking third-up at the trip. FEDERER has been lobbed with a nasty draw, he has an explosive finish as he showed fresh and with any luck hard to hold out. TAKA SPEED has been out of form, last start was better, capable on his day. Selections: 4,17,6,10 Suggested Bet: SIMURGH win Race 3 Distinct lack of speed makes this a minefield for the punters. MISSAPPREHEND will be close enough to the speed, did have her chance last start and the jury out on her will to win, however, she’s fit, carries no weight and can take advantage of her likely position in run. SILENT SHARES was super at Flemington hitting the line, a mare in form, do they push forward with Pozman? CHERISH ME and MYSTERY N DRAMA go forward, one of them leads, deserve respect on that alone. Selections: 14,1,4,7 Suggested Bet: Exotics Race 4 More speed expected in this race, DUCHESS ZOU needs to absorb pressure but looks the likely leader, she’s been up a long time, the stable are experts at keeping them in work and in form. ELOUYOU camps on the speed and is racing well, may need rain on the day to bring him into strong contention. HE’LL RIP is a month between runs, inside draw niggly but gets B Shinn, inside part of the track is a concern. Giving HOUSE OF LORDS a big shout fresh, good mare, sparingly raced and has the speed on to suit first-up. Selections: 9,2,6,8 Suggested Bet: HOUSE OF LORDS 1 x 4 Race 5 HARD KICK and MYHRO’S look the obvious, both have race fitness on their side, the former has been back to the jumpouts after a poor showing fresh. The latter has the wide draw but looks to have some upside this campaign. CLOSER TO FREE was a natural 2YO and now that has to do it as an older horse, his barrier is tricky, love the 1100m it’s a perfect trip for him. TORNADO VALLEY is sweating on all of them behind the speed, barrier 2 may prove a negative if they are getting wide by this time of the day. ORGANISED CRIME was so impressive on debut, should be charging at them late. Selections: 8,2,1,9 Suggested Bet: ORGANISED CRIME 1 x 3 Race 6 NATURAL FLING has the benefit of a QLD winter stint which showed at the jumpouts upon returning, stable opted for a noseroll in the Flem jumpout win, that doesn’t go to race-day, from a middle draw she’s the one to beat. RIVERINA LULU has enormous upside, impressive winning on debut and trialled ok leading in, her latest jumpout suggests there’s more to come despite winning her heat in slow time. LARA ANTPIOVA beat up a modest bunch in NZ before arriving in Australia. First jumpout fair, second was better, need to see her do it against better opposition. PORTINARI has been back to the jumpouts since the good finish here last start, tough race for her. Selections: 5,10,1,14 Suggested Bet: NATURAL FLING win Race 7 EVAPORATE still does a bit wrong but can pinch this first-up, he has been forward at the jumpouts, keen and fresh and will give a sight on-speed. He and Nash will come across with PRIVATE EYE and set the pace. DESERT LIGHTNING has the residual fitness from a QLD stint and looked the part winning latest jumpout. COSMIC CRUSADER was well-spruiked for his Victorian debut with the new stable and dominant in winning. Willy Pike rides and hard to fault. FEROCE is doing good work at the jumpouts, expecting a forward showing. Selections: 2,4,7,6 Suggested Bet: EVAPORATE and DESERT LIGHTNING win Race 8 Keen SHADHAVAR she’s been freshened since bolting in over the border, her two jumpouts have been huge, i can see her leading this field and whilst this is her biggest test she’s never raced better. MCGAW may add some pressure, ARKANSAW KID lands in behind. ASAKURA is very progressive and has been forward at the jumpouts to return, strikes a hot field. RECOMMENDATION is going ok, windburn behind Cosmic Crusader last start, it may prove the right form in the previous. PERSIAN SPIRIT another to catch the eye in jumpouts, resuming. Selections: 9,11,6,7 Suggested Bet: SHADHAVAR win Race 9 Tough race. Wide in the quaddie. FIRST CHORUS is in a rich vein of form and on the 7 day back-up after winning on the Heath track last week, she handles all ground, fast and slow speeds and only knock is whether she’s been up too long. ELECTRIC IMPULSE was below her best on the inside at Randwick, prefers galloping room and the wider draw is a positive, as is Craig Williams with no weight and soft track conditions, plenty in her favour if she can get around Caulfield. MACHINE GUN GRACIE is a G3 winning mare last campaign, appears forward at the jumpouts to resume and B Shinn, awkward draw to overcome. Selections: 8,10,7,12 Suggested Bet: Exotics MULTI: R2#4 win, R6#5 place, R8#9 place Market Market
