Scott Embry’s Tuesday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 26, 2022March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HOLY SPY is bursting to win a race. Second to Yes Miss Jane, third to Primative, almost dead heat with Charcoal Chaos and then third behind Sure No Something who has won another two races since. Drawn to get all the favours and attacks this off a freshen. BEST PRESENT is a Pierro filly out of Treasured Gift, an unraced daughter of Big Brown. Trialled well behind a sharp pair in Bisector and Spirit Man. Obvious danger. YOU CAN TELL ME went out favourite behind Dream TO Me on debut. John Reynolds can get them going first-up no trial. Respect. LEAD GUITAR has promised to win a maiden for seasons in Geraldton. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – HOLY SPY WIN RACE 2 DREAM TO ME is toying with opposition at the minute. Stepped to 1200m last start, carried 60kg and had to tow the field up to a free rolling leader who ran time (overall race time 3.5L faster than average). Did it at both ends and skipped away to score soft. She’s a sharp mare. ELIMINATE is ready to win and went awfully close last start. She’ll concede Dream To Me a decent head start but looks a clear cut second elect. LUCY DA GREY can pinch a race or two for Meryl Hayley. DELAGO DEHERO is not the same horse who ran third to The Singing Tiger in November. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – DREAM TO ME WIN RACE 3 MATERIAL WITNESS hung badly last start and was uncompetitive. Trialled on Friday at Lark Hill and drops from a m78 into a c70+. He’ll settle rearwards and if he turns up and goes straight, he’ll go close to zapping these. Likely to be an all or nothing investment from a betting perspective. Some of his runs in Saturday grade over the last 12 months would see him winning this by a space. Or he reproduces last start and is in a photo with the ambulance. THE SINGING TIGER is more than capable of pushing up in behind Sun Power and Admiral Husson and bursting through late. SUN POWER comes back to 1100m and has a senior on. Both big ticks. ADMIRAL HUSSON will look to cross. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MATERIAL WITNESS WIN RACE 4 SCARLET AT TARA went around $61 first-up when finishing second to Blue Cheyenne and then reproduced it last start when second to Justa Lil Faith. With even luck in the home straight she gets out and wins that race but was held up at crucial stages and only got out when the race was over. Gets her chance. BOLD PROPHET has finished fourth beaten 5L and sixth beaten 3L at his last two starts but they’ve both been really impressive in replay. If he can step with them and hold a position in running he can go well. ENDURING MEMORY trialled really well leading into her Geraldton debut. Has been honest without really wowing anyone. RUABON ROAD is going well and is racing better than his SP profile. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – SCARLET AT TARA WIN RACE 5 VANMAN ran well behind Galaxy Affair first-up in 58+ grade and then was (somehow?) beaten on the post by Edmond last start. Drops from a pair of 58+ races back into a C2 and gains the services of the region’s premier rider in Troy Turner. Plenty to like. ST JOHN went from an Albany maiden win into a Geraldton C1 and made it back to back victories. He was over a month between runs into that event and carried 60kg to victory. Rises another half kilo, another 200m but draws barrier 1 to either kick through and lead or box seat. WOJTEK gets rolling in his races and once finding a rhythm is hard to run down. BRISANCE next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – VANMAN WIN RACE 6 SOVIET SPY is going far better than it reads on paper. Got a long way back first-up, never got a chance to wind up into the race until it was over second-up and then sat three and four deep the trip last start in a 66+ beaten only 3L by Queen Alina. He could well emerge as a nice Geraldton Cup type horse later in the campaign. HONORFIC was $5.50 into $3.70 last start and didn’t let punters down. He rolled to the top in a race devoid of natural speed and then was able to absorb the pressure of Uni Queen and fight her off late in the race. He’s in form and he can stay. BILLY JACK is a query at the trip but racing well. ARMED AND READY is arguably the least consistent galloper in WA. But when he’s on, he’s on. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – SOVIET SPY WIN RACE 7 ORISTANO has come back to racing in great order. Out classed in the Regional Championship Heat, second to Dream To Me in a C2, second to Ask An Angel in a C2 and now gets his chance. Proven weight carrier, better suited at 1200m and looks to have found a winnable assignment. SILVER BO looks the danger. May have a few traffic issues at stages in the home straight but Brayden Gaerth is riding particularly well early into his return. MYSTERY MAN continues to lure punters in. He’s just not finishing off. ROME gets back and runs on. Shades on and a senior on. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – ORISTANO WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,6 1,3,4 1,3 1,6 Market Market
