Scott Embry’s Tuesday Ascot Preview Posted on November 2, 2025November 1, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LAST STYLEBENDER led and was cut down late by a talented horse in Rolling Ruler at his return to WA. Mitch Pateman now drops him back in grade from a 60+ Graduation into a C1 and leaves Holly Watson aboard to carry the 60.5kg. Might have to do a little bit of work to cross Paint It Red / She’s Capitana so he could be vulnerable late but have to follow up on that gritty first-up run in higher grade. PAINT IT RED joins Luke Fernie and resumes off a 7 week freshen. 2 / 3 Year old SWP back to 60+ Graduation back to C1. Should be right in the mix. SHE’S CAPITANA was no match for Heaven Specified on debut and then won well second-up. Still think the runner-up wins with even luck, so wary of the ‘exaggerated’ margin. OVERDRIVE trialled super but put in an Overdrive run fresh. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – LAST STYLEBENDER WIN RACE 2 FLYING FRANKIE resumed in the Max Simmonds and was only beaten 2.3L by Talkanco/Luana Miss/Snitzalatte and then second-up was held up at various points in the home straight when finishing 1.2L off Rolling Ruler (and Last Stylebender – Race 1). He was incredibly only a $1000 yearling purchase and looks like he’ll be making that back 50-fold plus. SPICY THANG settled off-speed for the first time in her career last start and the tactical changed proven genius as she let down powerfully in the home straight to hold out Savage Dancer. The 3 year old 0MWLY races are always highly compressed weight scales but the down side for her is that she’s now lumped with 59.5kg as a very small filly. NINETYMILESTRAIGHT slipped on jumping last start. WILUNA MISS has pace. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – FLYING FRANKIE WIN RACE 3 CAVALLO RED has been a patience testing galloper across his career but since winning a C3 at Belmont in late September he has actually put in two highly encouraging runs in 60+ Graduation company under a 3kg claimer. Finished 3.5L off Wembanyama and then finished 3.5L off Exquisite Taste, both really high rating races. Senior goes on, drawn to get the right run and is showing some consistency. COLD SHIZZLE hasn’t seen a race of this nature for years! His last 25 starts have been in higher grade dating right back to 22 July 2023, two days after Darren McAuliffe went to the opening of the Barbie Movie. LOVA SESSION needs to draw low to be saved for one late run and that’s exactly the map here. EXTREME LOVE is a handful behind the gates but she’s run two good races for her new trainer. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – CAVALLO RED WIN RACE 4 SAVVY RULER has finished in the money at three of seven so far and her effort last start behind Buthelezi was probably career best. Buthelezi goes around favourite in a 60+ Graduation 1500 at Ascot on Saturday and if he was to win or even finish in the money then that will make this mare, especially with the booking of Willie Pike, extremely popular. Can also use the gate to advantage which is just another bonus. MASMELO was in the same race and was just as good (if not better) and has since run another bottler behind Fairetha Stakes – WA Guineas bound Streamline. Just can’t draw a gate. MISS GRAPHENE loomed the winner last start but seemed to peak in the last 100. Back in distance might be a blessing. LAST MILE is back in trip and would love to see him step so he could lead. Numbers: 7 – 12 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – SAVVY RULER WIN RACE 5 WAR MATTERS can be hit and miss but if he reproduced the slightly luckless run behind Old Mate Henry when held up fleetingly on straightening or even the grinding effort of last start to finish 4.6L off Exquisite Taste then he would be hard to beat dropping back into a C3. There’s not much to this line-up and if he’s going along better than it reads on paper. Similar profile to Cavallo Red earlier in the day, just looks to have found the best set up in recent starts. ALMAYA sat box seat last start and zapped Dandy’s Gem in an ugly sit and sprint. She franked the form by winning Wednesday at Belmont and he should again park up close handy. SAULOK finished alongside War Matters last start and will be better for the run at the distance. MONTY ZOOMER leads and controls for Pike. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – WAR MATTERS WIN RACE 6 AWESOME BOY sat three deep no cover to break his maiden and then two starts later led and won a 3 year old 60+ Saturday event. He’s first-up, no trial resuming in a C3 1200 and expect that he’ll bounce out, park up right over the speed and take running down. He’s talented and this is really nice placement by Bruce Kay. ALASKALOT hasn’t raced since March 2023, resuming off 968 days it would be a feather in the cap of Brandon Fiore if he could win first-up. Trials suggest he absolute can. Big watch on horse who has always had a huge amount of raw talent, right from day one. SAVAGE DANCER sits three back the fence and has the last crack at them. HARD SOLO drops out of the Belgravia Stakes. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – AWESOME BOY WIN RACE 7 LADIES PRO trialled really well behind potentially a nice one of Bob Peters’ in Cinque Stelle over 1000m at Belmont Park and then won impressively on debut at that distance gunning down speedy filly Tennessee Spirit. Drops 2.5kg into a C1 and looks like she’ll actually eat up the ground. She could be Champion Fillies bound and if that’s the case should be too classy for these. MANJERI has won his last two, leading at 1300m and sitting four deep the trip back in distance at 1100m. Versatile and improving type who now has a senior rider going on. STRAPPING PROPHET still has a bit to learn about racing but his trial was super and his first-up run under 60.5kg had plenty of merit too. TOO MUCH TALK sneaks back in grade. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – LADIES PRO WIN RACE 8 PLAYIN’ IT SWEET carried 55kg last start in a 72+ when finishing within half a length of Asphalt and Asian Beau Stakes bound September Born. Prior to that had won four on the bounce in 2 year old SWP, 3 year old SWP and a 66+ beating the older horses. She’s actually got some tactical speed to use the gate and she looks really well suited carrying only 1.5kg more than maiden winner Ourgirlcanrun. TALKANCO just looked to get caught a bit flat footed in a slowly run Belgravia Stakes. Sectionally she was still really good and she looked to run right through the line. OURGIRLCANRUN put on a galloping exhibition at Belmont winning by 6.7L. Free wheeling in front she’ll have plenty of admirers and understandably so. RIVA AQUARAMA has a huge L600 in her arsenal. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – PLAYIN’ IT SWEET WIN RACE 9 DOMINATUS finished third in a C1 behind Fine Star (races in the Burgess Queen) and Hedawood (races in a 0MW 1200 at Ascot on Saturday) before heading to a 3 year old maiden and holding out talented type Radiant Light. Heads to a 1600m C1 that looks pretty thin and with Pike aboard he’ll likely start a pronounced favourite. Long queues at the Tote after the last should he win! MISS VEUVE is a tricky horse to ride so it’s a big ask of 3kg claimer Ava Catarino to park her back in the field and weave a clear passage through late. ACROSS GENERATIONS is accepted Saturday. Interesting to see if he scratches from that to race here (or even better, back him up!) SIR DUSKIN caught the eye fresh. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – DOMINATUS WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,9,10 2,8 1,2,9 5 Market Market
