Scott Embry’s Thursday York Preview Posted on October 7, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 I’M ICEY again looks well placed to score. Has had a long campaign (start 14 this prep) but his last start effort was strong and he seemed to relish the York style of racing. Different horse when he finds the fence and should again lead and run. Got the cash for us last start and we’ll butter up again. REACTION drops back in grade and is racing extremely consistently. SAUVEGARDE has a senior rider on. She is a better mare than her last two suggest. FOXY ROYALE has been in form for months and loves this track and well placed this grade. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – I’ M ICEY WIN Race 2 BRAVE CONTENDER vs FROSTY BAY on paper. BRAVE CONTENDER got shuffled back to an impossible position last start in a race where they were walking in the middle stages. Hit the line powerfully late and looks every chance of being a first ride back winner for Chris Parnham. FROSTY BAY finds the front and that makes her hard to beat on the York circuit. Has hit a purple patch of form. BLACK SMUGGLER was big last start when never getting any luck. LANGLEY an improver with Pateman on. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – BRAVE CONTENDER WIN Race 3 THE BLACK WATCH is well placed to score back to back wins. Big effort two starts ago in a hot form race behind Miss Marietta, Butterlea Lad and Kelly’s Gem and got under the punters radar last start when saluting. Last start C3 winner in a 46+ is astute placement. SHAKE THE BLOOM has improved with each outing and should be primed third-up from the spell. Looks the danger on paper. STILL AWAKE a watch back from the dirt. HARD TOO CEE reunites with his old mate Peter Hall. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE BLACK WATCH WIN Race 4 HINCHINMOSE ran extremely well here two starts ago when racing without luck. Always a big plus to be able to navigate the York turn and now with the shades going back on gets his chance. Not disgraced last start at Kalgoorlie and this is no tougher. RODOMONTE will be looking for further and further but showed ability at trials and then took it into his first-up run. SLY AS A FOX can improve up in trip. TIME TO THUNDER comes out of a very fast run maiden race. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – HINCHINMOSE WIN Race 5 ANDRIETTE trialed up nicely behind Friday Knight, Amelia’s Etoile and Differentiator and the effort on debut was very solid. From the draw Whiting should have her right over the top of the speed and she looks hard to beat. PAEROA LAD is on debut in an extremely evenly graded affair. This should be eachway the field and he looks a chance of scoring on debut. Solid recent trial and the winner (Keytrade) was enormous on debut. Could be a timely change of luck for the stable. VICINITY is yet to fire a shot this preparation but in much deeper races. LADY HATRAS again draws horribly but flew first-up at this track. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – ANDRIETTE WIN Race 6 HIGH ENERGY could give Jarrad Noske his first winner as a trainer/jockey. This is very clever placement into a 46+ coming out of C3 and 0MWLY company. Three starts ago was only nailed on the post in a C3 and then the last two efforts have both been good in fast run staying races without any luck from awkward gates. RACY AVA has been building into the preparation and was big last start when deep the trip without cover. Kept coming and that form could prove even stronger if The Black Watch scores earlier in the day. ALL MAN is building and this looks a nice race for him. POLITE PASS gets a soft run. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – HIGH ENERGY WIN Race 7 SPORTY SPICE has her first outing for the Paige Kenney yard and this looks a nice option. Recent trial was very impressive when leading and not fully tested when running third behind Reign of Fire and Pablo’s Poem. Reign of Fire has claims as one of the most exciting 3 year olds heading into the Summer Carnival and Pablo’s Poem is lightly raced and highly talented. Winner at the track and gets in with minimal weight. PERCEIVE has been given a month between runs and with an ounce of luck in running she’ll be right in the finish. MASSA MAC was a big winner here first-up. VEDDER has super NSW form for a 46+ but trialed woefully. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SPORTY SPICE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 1,4,5,8,10 1,3,4 1,3,4,5,6 Market Market
