Scott Embry’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on May 20, 2025May 20, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HEZA GRUNT went around in a 50+ 2000 last week at Pinjarra and held on well to run fourth from the breeze in a genuinely run race behind Mirrorschino. In a maiden the way to ride him is for speed and so expect that Joey Azzopardi will again kick him out and put him into a position. KERMELIA has finished second at her last two to Adam Durrant trained stayers who have simply been tougher than her late. She’ll win one soon and should get every mortal chance here. DECLARED INNOCENT has a big riding change. Very one paced though. AGRABAH is another grindy staying type. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HEZA GRUNT WIN RACE 2 WON FOR THE GIRLS trialled up well for his return to racing and then never gave up the chase behind speedy filly Lucky I Am. Outside fence is a huge plus and maybe at this stage of his career the 1000m is also his go. Going to follow up. DARK ORAL is a Pinjarra 1000m only type at the minute. Her two runs down the straight this prep have both been good enough to win this. LUNA BALLET has shades on and might well be on a jump and run mission to find the outside fence in front early. THE AGENCY has had an interrupted start to his preparation but found a winnable race on return. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – WON FOR THE GIRLS WIN RACE 3 HEAVY METAL is running out of chances being a 12 start maiden, but think this is a nice middle ground for her. First-up at York they didn’t make an inch – forgive, second-up she was the strong closer behind a filly who has since won a C1 and got the rails run up the fence. Now is the time to stand up. APHRODITE MAGIC finished 2.5L off Amaroo Star first-up in a 3 year old 0MWLY earlier in the preparation. Given 50 days and a mid-prep trial, keep her very much in consideration. FLYING CHOUX has been getting a long way out of his ground and charging to the line late. Senior on a big plus. OFFSHORE has again trialled well for her return. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – HEAVY METAL WIN RACE 4 CANNYKEV might have run into one outside the box last start in Mt Shirataku. He had the rest of them comfortably covered, just was nowhere near the level of the Grant & Alana Williams 3 year old. We go again! LAVISH CHARM showed enough last prep and was kept safe in betting throughout his initial preparation. Trial win was in slow time but from the draw he’ll get all the favours. NOBLE REIGN ran a huge race first-up last preparation behind Petite Vitesse. New stable, solid trial, just needs to overcome a really tricky barrier draw. MY HARV was only in a 4 horse trial but did it soft. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – CANNYKEV WIN RACE 5 ALABRAE has been enormous in two of three runs this preparation. Can he settle a pair or two closer from the better barrier? If he can, and he reproduces his L600 he’ll be very hard to hold out. Going to cross fingers and toes and hope that he doesn’t settle last of the 12 again. GOLD ENIGMA comes through the same race behind Caraway and was desperately unlucky. Looked like she had something to offer too. Keep safe. AH KUM went close in a couple of maidens last prep. Yet to fire a shot this campaign. LONG WAIT is a long time maiden but can sustain a run. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – ALABRAE WIN RACE 6 ROCKING IN VEGAS attacked the line hard from a mile off them behind Fast Harry last start. From barrier 1 can settle up much closer and Kirsten Melis’ team is ticking along really well at the minute. This looks the most winnable set up yet for him. JACKPOT BINGO might not quite stay. They’ve brought him back in trip and booked Pike to find out where he’s really at. PRETEY ROYAL was really well supported in betting but was no match for Fifth Essence last start. That 3 year old goes around in Race 7 at Belmont on Wednesday. AURORA QUEEN was a big improver last start when she stepped out over more ground. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – ROCKING IN VEGAS WIN RACE 7 GRAND RESERVE has contested back to back 66+ races on a Saturday. He finished 1.2L off Fine Touch over 1800m before stepping out to 2200m when 7L adrift of Zaza Rock. Big beaten margin yes, however, going back isn’t his go and this is an enormous drop in grade into a 50+ at the provincials. Should be right in the finish. STARWALKER has been screaming out for ground and finally gets out to a staying trip. ELEGANT INDI is coming out of a lowly maiden at Northam but stamped her staying future with a strong win. PURE CHINO can stay and in the 50+ at Belmont four back should have gone close. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – GRAND RESERVE WIN RACE 8 IDEALLY caught the eye first-up with an apprentice on over an unsuitable distance. Out to 1400, CJP on for ZJP and drawn to have a couple behind her in running. Provided they can make some level of ground she’ll be hard to hold out late. SHAMILIAN MISS had a minor excuse late last start and worth remembering she went around $5 in a C3. Back into a C1 but again drawn really awkwardly. BIG KARRI was too good for them last start with an all the way win on the Scarpside and leads again here. CHOICE THINKING produced a huge fresh run, but will the sprint come out of his legs quickly? Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – IDEALLY WIN RACE 9 LATE ARRIVAL is worth following. His three WA wins have all been outstanding, including last start when three deep the trip without cover and being able to get past a now 66+ placed Dug Another Hole. He’s just getting better and better each start for Indi Weinert. L’IL CAPRI has only won two races and they’ve both been for W.Pike. He’s seemingly key to her chances at the moment. ICEBERGS won a 66+ at the end of last campaign. Resuming in a C5 is wonderful placement. WAR MATTERS put in a shocker second-up. His trial and his fresh run were both super. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – LATE ARRIVAL WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,6,7,10 1,7,9 2,5,6 1,3,4,7,8 Market Market
