Scott Embry’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on March 21, 2023March 21, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 OPTIMAL bails out of the 3 year old features to drop back into a 2200m maiden. Finished 2.3L off She’s A Machine, Rockin’ The Silks and Here For Cheques three starts ago and then went to the Lex Piper Stakes (Listed 1600) and JC Roberts (Listed 1800). This is a lot easier. No surprise to see him bounce back. ROCKIN’ THE SILKS beat him home in the race behind She’s A Machine and then flopped as an even money elect at his next outing. Up 700m is an ask but he looks a stayer. CELEBRITY ICON is up 900m. Never raced beyond 1400 and takes a huge step up in distance. MERITIA had been racing well in Esperance. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – OPTIMAL WIN RACE 2 EXPOROSE ran well down the straight at her first attempt. She finished second behind Achici Vuolemale and beat home Valdarena. Happy to follow that as a form reference and the fact she’s drawn barrier 8 of 8 means that she can jump and hug the outside fence. With the fence to follow and the straight track experience this looks a great chance for her to shake her maiden tag. IMA SINGLE GAL has trialled well for her return to racing. Has been trialling behind another JP Taylor Racing galloper in Military Power and think he’s above average. SPINIFEX FAIRY was stiff behind Rupert’s Empire last time she raced down the straight. SHAKA ZULU has shown ability at trials. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – EXPOROSE WIN RACE 3 FRANTIC WAR has finished second to City Angel (beating home Marmooga), second to Rupert’s Empire and second to Deep Envy. He’s drawn barrier 11 of 11 to jump and follow the outside rail so while he was beaten at the shorts without excuse last time out going to follow up and hope that this is the run where he finally breaks through for a deserving maiden win. KING’S SICARIO is double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. This is probably a couple of lengths weaker than his race at Belmont. AMELIA’S TRUST was well thought of in betting in her initial preparation and trialled nicely. TAK GOES BOOM is a well related gelding who has looked good at trials. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – FRANTIC WAR WIN RACE 4 MANHATTAN STRIP looks like getting every chance from the inside draw. Resumed over 1200m and ran into what looks a very handy one in Desennea. Was doing his best work late and through the line and showed ability in his first preparation when finishing only 3L off Saintorio and Saloon Bar. YONGA LASS put the writing on the wall last start with a narrow defeat behind Noteworthy (beating home She’s Imminent who races Wednesday at Belmont). The draw really hurts, she’s likely to have to drag back into the field and end up (at best) three deep with cover. Nice filly but tough ask. DARK LOOKS has raced well at all three career outings. FIELD OF BATTLE is running out of chances. Loomed large first-up but couldn’t get the job done. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – MANHATTAN STRIP WIN RACE 5 STARRING KNIGHT continued a really good run in the last fortnight for Dan & Ben Pearce. He settled one out, one back and let rip at the top of the straight to cover them quickly and impressively. Scored a soft win late and from the draw he should get a near identical run in transit here with 2kg less on his back. Looks capable of going back to back. ONE COOL GAL is double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. The C3 races are usually slightly weaker than the 3 year old 0MWLY so if they run here she must be respected. FLICKA’S CHANCE is as honest and consistent as they come. FIND YOUR MAN was the target of big money at his return. Finished off well enough from an impossible position. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – STARRING KNIGHT WIN RACE 6 RUSTY DREAMS looks a Saturday filly in the making. Won by over 2L on debut beating home Ex Sport Girl who has gone on to frank the form as a maiden winner, C2 winner and runner up on Saturday in a 3 year old Plate behind Leniency. Loved her recent trial when looming up outside of talented sprinter Ruler Rocket and putting him away under little riding. Like her a lot. DIVINE INANNA is well placed back into a C1. Only rises half a kilo after the Luke Campbell claim. Comes back in grade, back in trip and has blinkers re-attached. NUNES is a talented filly who trialled well for her return. She’ll likely settle out the back and run on late. GOLDFRAPP is back at the races after almost 600 days. She has X-Factor. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – RUSTY DREAMS WIN RACE 7 LA DETTE broke her maiden beating Too Dardy and Sizzle Me Patrick (both won their next start) and then finished fourth behind Deetea, Awesome Rival and Starring Knight. Starring Knight turned the tables on her last start and if he was to go well in the C3 in Race 5 it will make the form look very good. Drawn to get every chance from barrier 1. BUDGERIGAR finished third behind Spirit Man and Divine Inanna at his return to racing and then went down to Albany for an easy kill. Was $2.05 into $1.45 and won soft. Hasn’t been seen at the races for 54 days since but looks like he’ll measure up. VISIONS OF GRACE won well on debut and the recent trial form behind Leniency is reading well. STORMY TAWNY got the job done on debut at York. This is 4 or 5 lengths tougher. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – LA DETTE WIN RACE 8 VALLEY OF QUEENS has taken a while to find her feet for new trainer Lucy Fiore but ran her best race yet most recently in a C5 1600 behind Awesome Chatter and well supported subsequent Saturday winner Wee Ripper. Drops back into a C3, returns to Pinjarra where she has won both of her career races and is likely to get things her own way in front. Nice race for her. AVOIDANCE is having his third start in WA. Gets out to 1600m, can park up outside of Valley Of Queens and looked well weighted after the Luke Campbell claim. GREAT HESIT and FLOWER IN THE WIND almost dead heat last start at Ascot. Not much between them. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – VALLEY OF QUEENS EACHWAY RACE 9 VAST ART is still a work in progress but think he’ll be far better suited at Pinjarra than he was last start at Ascot. Won (dead heat) first-up at Belmont Park with Cocoon Bay and then went to a 3 year old 0MWLY when third behind Village Girl and Finchy before stepping into a Saturday when fourth behind Major Max, Village Girl and Mack Mack. Good enough form for a C3 mile against the older horses. ROCK MY WAY comes through the same event and the sit and sprint nature of the race behind Major Max didn’t suit a get back filly like her. Forgive. ROCKSTAR STATUS was only fair last start but has ability. WICKED FOX seems to have turned a corner. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – VAST ART WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 7 3,4,5,6,8,9 1,2,4,5,6,7,8 4,6,8 Market Market
