Scott Embry’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on January 12, 2022January 13, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DEFENDING went into his first-up assignment as a well supported even money favourite. Never looked comfortable at any stage and was completely out of the race from start to finish. Never got within 4L of Nights Mystery and went to the line relatively disappointing. Second-up, up to 1200m and with the services of W.Pike expecting a sharp peak. If he reproduces the 3 year old SWP run when splitting The Front Bar and My Fury he would justify the first-up quote. Trust. MAGNAMAN got burnt off from the breeze on debut. All the trials were encouraging enough. NEAR PERFECT is the filly that Pike jumps off to ride Defending. That probably says it all. ARGENT SAUVAGE wasn’t disgraced on debut. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – DEFENDING WIN RACE 2 MY BABY BLUE JEAN had bookmakers and corporates nationwide sweating as they loaded into the barriers in one of the more spirited maiden moves that Belmont has seen in a while. Punters lined up and were jumping out of trees to get on this filly in what looked a pretty deep maiden. Via Monte (eventual winner) was coming out of 2 and 3 year old SWP form around The Front Bar and Trix Of The Trade so expecting for My Baby Blue Jean supporters that they will follow up and go again. For the rest of us, it’s onto the bandwagon here. CIVVY STREET will take holding out. Blinkers go on, Pike sticks and the form through Shake Baby Shake is on display in Race 1 at Belmont Wednesday. RULING DAME was finishing off really well in the recent trial behind The God Song at Lark Hill. WISE WORDS went to Narrogin for an easy kill last start. Was anything but. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – MY BABY BLUE JEAN WIN RACE 3 TENACIOUS REWARD was scratched at Pinjarra on the 29th and now faces up to this assignment 28 days between runs. That is an obvious minor red flag but from what we’ve seen in two runs to date it won’t be long before this Paul Roberts gelding breaks through. Chased hard on debut in a 1000m race dominated out in front, and likewise second-up when working through traffic at a crucial stage. Hard to beat. MENS CLUB struck a quality maiden on debut. Halatorion has since won again and there’s every chance that Otheroneson will do the same Wednesday. CONTENTO BOY is double nominated Wednesday and Thursday. Top 4 material either way. PADDYS ART finished off well at his return. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – TENACIOUS REWARD WIN RACE 4 REGAL RULER is yet another of a string of recent Lindsey Smith transferees to WA. Miss Field (winner), National Guard (massive) and then both Find Your Man and Zoudini in on Belmont on Wednesday. On race form you would say that this will be on the shorter side for this gelding so when you consider that the recent trial behind 1000m type Takemehometonight is a great effort. Keep safe at his WA debut and watch the market. SO LIKEABLE found the front in a recent 1450m trial and never looked like being run down. Debut effort on a Heavy8 was still only 5L off Searchin’ Roc’s, Bandalera Beau and Co. MELWOOD COAST has been a professional black booker in the country and provincial area for years. With Pike on he gets his chance. THE GOD SONG was a nice trial winner recently. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – REGAL RULER WIN RACE 5 FINAL AUTHORITY is a Zoustar gelding on debut for Adam Durrant. From the trials he clearly has a motor and he clearly has sufficient speed to use up the ideal outside barrier. Two things you want down the straight five course at Pinjarra: 1) speed; and 2) an outside draw. He should position up against the outside fence either in front or just behind the speed. From there he should go close on debut. TAKEMEHOMETONIGHT was plunged down the straight first-up last campaign when with Justin Warwick. Ran well when second to Pink Carats that day. AL QUEPONE is no star but he will keep coming. STRENIA brings intrigue. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – FINAL AUTHORITY WIN RACE 6 HIGH PRECISION is having her third run for Carey Martin. First start in Geraldton was slow away and never a hope after that beaten 5L and then again last start was beaten the 5L margin when stepping out to 1400m. Coming back to 1000 looks a big plus, coming back into a 46+ looks suitable and with CJP becoming a bit of a pick-up ride specialist recently we’ll side up with the mare as a throw at the stumps. IZZY MAY won well last start at Narrogin. If she can produce the same turn of foot down the straight, she’ll be hard to hold out late. VICINITY hasn’t fired a shot recently but is a 1000m straight winner and some of the recent runs are in far stronger races than this. Improver. BOYISH will be on a jump, run mission. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – HIGH PRECISION EACHWAY RACE 7 ROCKNRULER is a great ride for Taj Dyson. He has ridden the horse previously so will know his tricks and lurks and after the claim gets in with a very winnable weight in a very winnable race. Drops in distance after being tested over the staying journeys by Gino Poletti and provided he can kick through a hold a position (or even conceivably kick through to lead) then he should be right in the finish. ALL ON BLACK sustained a run last start and was strong through the line. HARD TOO CEE is impossible to catch but this isn’t beyond him. CHAMPAGNE GAL has put in an eyecatcher from time to time this campaign. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 11 – 9 Suggested Bet – ROCKNRULER WIN RACE 8 NOBLE SCOT was only gobbled up in the last stride by talented 3 year old Bandalera Beau last start at Belmont. Pike allowed him to stride through the early and middle stages and that seems to be the way to ride him. Overall race time was 2L faster than C1 average and that should hold him in good stead here. Straight to the top again and controls the race. DASH OF BRANDY toyed with moderate opposition last start. Previous effort was brilliant from a long way off them. Filly on the rise. VEVINSKY put the writing on the wall before breaking through in style last start. COMEALILBITCLOSER found room late in the race last week and hit the line well. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – NOBLE SCOT WIN RACE 9 PHANTA was strong at his Chris & Michael Gangemi debut and should only improve with racing. Always going to come back to his 2 and 3 year old form which saw him beat Dom To Shoot and split She’s God To You and Kaptain Kaos. Loomed the winner fresh and just peaked in the final few strides when run down by Solid Azza. Should get a gun run from the draw and Brad Rawiller rides these types well. KOHLI is another first start in WA Lindsey Smith commodity. Won a BM64 two starts ago and Smith goes straight to blinkers and the Pontiff. EEYORE WAYZ is accepted here and triple nominated for Ascot Saturday. Keen to follow him where ever he goes next. JADAVI was thrown in the deep end into the La Trice and ran well. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – PHANTA WIN RACE 10 GINGER SENORITA looks suited in this 52+ race which has been put on the Pinjarra card to accommodate those who were headed to Narrogin last Friday before it was abandoned due to poor race names. Finished second to Yuna Mailman first-up in a high speed 1300 and then was fair second-up when midfield. On the fresh side, back to 1200 and back to Patrick Carbery who guided her to her maiden win. Ticks a few boxes. ALEXIS OLYMPIA has been reeling off some slick sections since being ridden with a sit. Versatile mare who is ready to win again. PASAJERO hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a long while. First-up went close behind Lacevinsky in a c70+. Well placed. HOOLAHOOPS worth consideration back on the grass. Numbers: 10 – 12 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – GINGER SENORITA WIN RACE 11 BANDALERA MISS is simply a different mare since joining Fred Kersley’s yard. Came down a six year old, 28 start, C1 and since has had three starts in the metro/provincial area for 2 wins. New environment, new horse and clearly ideally suited to the Pike style of riding. Impossible to fault her recent form and she should enjoy Pike’s favourite staying position in running: three back the fence. FREE SOLO is ready to run a race. Simply screaming out for this sort of trip. Needs every inch of 2000 and gets 1.5kg weight relief to suit. SUNSET CRUISE is going well and can sustain a run. DIAMOND TONIQUE not impossible. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – BANDALERA MISS WIN Quaddie (Race 8 – 11) 1,2,4,6 1,5,6,8 1,3,7,10,11,12 1,5 Market Market
