Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on October 26, 2022October 26, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EX SPORT GIRL vs RUSTY DREAMS looks an exciting clash between two highly talented maiden fillies. Given the barrier draws going to side up with RUSTY DREAMS for the powerful Chris Parnham-Michael Lane combination. Loved each and every one of her trials. She travels brilliantly, has a turn of acceleration and looks a ready made race horse. Lots of time for her. EX SPORT GIRL was brave behind Upper Limits and then was crunched in a 3 year old 0MWLY when hitting the line strongly into third. Big danger. DIVINE FLIRT has shown ability from time to time. STREET WISE RED will look to come across. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – RUSTY DREAMS WIN RACE 2 KINGS SICARIO was working to the line well at Belmont trials behind Military Power. That was a trial where they were running throughout and thought he hit the line well enough to suggest that he would take beating on debut. Drawn a nice gate and Brad Parnham has been in form all season. Big watch on debut. BIGIDEAS ran a ripper on debut as a 2 year old. Hasn’t been seen for 474 days and may need the run to bring him on. SPEAK TO ME is double nominated for Wednesday and Thursday. Worth following whichever day he goes. CHERISHED TRADE and EXCEED EXPRESS both have claims. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – KINGS SICARIO WIN RACE 3 BUSTERS FREE was a touch slow into stride at trials so given the vast amounts of speed in this 3 year old 1000 he might end up midfield in running but he looks to have natural raw ability. Still green but like the way he extended once tested by Harvey in his recent trial. Wide open race. TRIGGER FINGER did plenty wrong on debut, both in his prelim and in his race. Only given a 400m jump out by Luke Fernie who can get them to fire fresh. Looks a jump and run type. PRINSESSA ANJA has only had 400m jump outs and they were a while ago now, but she does look talented. ORTUM KRISP looked good when third to Invincible Ruby and Universal Flair. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – BUSTERS FREE EACHWAY RACE 4 SECRET IDENTITY is no star but this is the weakest line-up he is likely to see anytime soon. Was crunched in betting on Sunday at Northam ($3.10 into $1.95) and settled at the rear of the field. On face value he was a shade disappointing given his price but on reflection there were 7 leaders win at Northam at that meeting and so in review he was probably one of the better runs of the meeting. Backs up off 4 days, drawn inside, cutaway available. Should be winning this. WILD ABOUT RUBY went around any old price on debut but ran well. MUSQUEAM is no star but gets a gun run. ELUSIVE PRO is lightly raced and may be looking for this trip. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – SECRET IDENTITY WIN RACE 5 STARRY HEIGHTS trialled like a horse who would be going close on debut. Finished a solid enough fourth behind Birkett Boy (goes around in a C1 on Wednesday at Ascot) and gave every indication that he would only improve for the experience. Gets a nice run from the draw and should be going close at start number two. CATCH THESE HANDS has had two runs in his career and finished fifth and seventh respectively, however, they’ve been in a 1000m maiden behind Givemeonereason, Bonjoy and City Angel and then in a 3 year old Plate behind All The King’s Men, Santorio, Upper Limits and Central Force. This is lengths easier and he should improve sharply. BRIGUIER was big on debut. Comes into this fresh and Paul Harvey’s booking catches the attention. PLAY LADY PLAY next best. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – STARRY HEIGHTS WIN RACE 6 KEYTRADE was one of the runs of the meeting at Ascot when resuming. His trial over 950m at Lark Hill was electric and his L600 in a Westspeed Platinum 1200 was excellent from a long way off them. Extra 100m helps his cause and provided there have been horses make some ground in races 1 – 5 then he’ll be popular with punters. Was a blackbook trial and a blackbook return. FIORUCCI MAMA steps out to 1300m, has a senior rider on and can lead and control. WAR WARRIOR was big two starts ago and then never in the race most recently. WITHOUT REG was only 2L off them in a handy form race fresh. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – KEYTRADE WIN RACE 7 ANNIHILATOR is another perfect example of certain trainers going well at certain tracks. Jonn Jachmann has had 12 runners at Northam in the last 365 days and produced 4 winners at a strike rate of 33% and a POT of 191%. On Sunday he trained a double and Annihilator is going well enough to win this and extend the impressive run he’s having. SAVANIK has a senior rider going on and if the gaps appear for her she’s ready to win and has the turn of foot to run these down. SURVEILLANCE is hard to catch but when he can jump and find the front he’s hard to run down. CALL AGAIN is a different horse in front. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ANNIHILATOR WIN RACE 8 CREZEE looks to have found a wonderful race to break back through into the winner’s circle. Two starts ago he finished less than 2L off Western Knight, Castillo Del Lago and Ginger Baker. Start before he finished 3.5L off Advanced and subsequent winners Green & Shady and Holy Ghost (Brooklyn Pier fourth). Gets out to his preferred trip and the claim brings him in with a winnable weight. SPECIAL PICTURE is knocking on the door for another win. BLAISZEN CAZAH is racing with great heart. Just keeps coming. RIDING HOOD FAME is going well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – CREZEE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 5,6,8 1,4 2,3,4 1,3,4 Market Market
