Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on October 11, 2022October 11, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AMELIA’S TRUST comes through the Upper Limits, Ex Sport Girl, Admiration Express, Sentimental Belle maiden which is expected to hold up as a form reference. She didn’t get a whole lot of luck, had to weave a passage through them in the home straight and hit the line well enough to suggest that with the race experience she’ll well second-up. VILLAGE GIRL really caught the eye at trials. Love the way she attacked the line and from the draw she can hold a position in running. PIERRA ART has always had a following every time she has gone to the races. First-up no trial, keep safe. CIRCUS STAR finished off well behind Visions of Grace and Fluro Neuro (in on Wednesday). Numbers: 7 – 8 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S TRUST WIN RACE 2 SENTIMENTAL BELLE ran a brave second on debut behind Vampi At Play and beat home subsequent winner It’s All A Rumour by over a length. Trialled up well for her return to racing and then had no luck. Was drawn barrier 10 of 10 in what was expected to be a strong maiden race but the punters launched her into even money. She raced wide and greenly and finished 2L off them. Senior rider on, think she’s ready to win. GREY MISTRESS hasn’t trialled since her 2 year old preparation in June. Was solid in both runs. BIRCHMONT trialled well but has a tricky draw. LITTLE MISS CHATTE should hold her own. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – SENTIMENTAL BELLE WIN RACE 3 AMJAAD looks another gun ride for Patrick Carbery at Northam on Thursday. Only seen once at the races and that was when fourth behind Paddy’s Lad and Diamond Command in a 2 year old SWP Saturday event. Never really saw daylight in the race and looked to have plenty to offer. Loved the recent trial from well off the speed and can position up from the draw. IDENTIFIER was bolting at trials and couldn’t get out at any stage. Looked like she was ready to explode and think she’ll take beating on debut. DREAMSTOCK won his trial well under Paul Harvey and should go well on debut. THE DESERT FOX ran well in a 3 year old 0MWLY first-up. Tricky gate. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – AMJAAD WIN RACE 4 NYET was the 2021 Perth Yearling Sales topper going for a whopping $325,000. Has a big price tag and a big expectation following him and from the trials he looks smart. Taken to Northam on debut and immediately stepped out over 1400m. Will have his fair share of admirers. DEMOLISH trialled super leading into his first-up assignment. He blundered and lost the rider in a 3 year old 1400m first-up when chiming into the race. He looks the danger. FILTHY HABITS missed away at Kalgoorlie and that probably cost him dearly in the finish. PLAYHOUSE PATRON better suited up in trip. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – NYET WIN RACE 5 I LOVE YOUR SMILE joins the yard of Jodie McLaughlin and jumps off the page from a form perspective. Went into the WA Sires on debut when finishing 3L behind Snowdome, All The King’s Men and Kosta’s Crown. At start number two finished fourth behind Top Of The Pops and gave every indication that she would come back bigger and better as a 3 year old. Big watch at her return. AXEMAN’S JAZZ has been trialling well and Patrick Carbery (hopefully) could have kicked home a few winners by Race 5. AMERICAN SONGBOOK trialled well and is the half-brother to talented stayer Utgard Loki. MAIL trialled well for his WA debut. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – I LOVE YOUR SMILE WIN RACE 6 STARRY HEIGHTS (Patrick Carbery again….) has trialled like the kind of horse who would be going close to winning on debut. Think that American Songbook will go well in Race 5 and Starry Heights got the better of him at trials before again winning over 950m at Lark Hill. Drawn to get every favour. BIRKETT BOY finished second on debut splitting Too Much Talk and Bernbrae. Think that will prove a handy little form race and they did run time in that event (3L faster than maiden average). Should only improve for the outing and the experience. HOBA WEST struck a Heavy8 on debut and carried 57kg. Finished just behind Sisu Warrior and Leniency. Great form for a maiden. LA PATRONA finished second to Nyet at trials. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – STARRY HEIGHTS WIN RACE 7 VAST ART went into a 3 year old 1400 on debut. Was drawn barrier 7 of 9, ended up settling 9th of 9 in running and while he only got past one in the run to the line thought he held his own. Was less than 6L off the winner Fly Away Home and the race contained the likes of Man Crush, Saintorio and Kosta’s Crown. Looks to have ability. LINDEN LADY was crunched in betting last start but couldn’t quite reel in Pearly Nugget. Gets an identical run. BERNBRAE has run well at both starts to date. PLAY LADY PLAY was good last start. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – VAST ART EACHWAY RACE 8 JARMAN is very hard to catch but he looks just about ready to pinch another one. Second-up he finished off behind Surveillance and Sessions Peak in a hard and fast run mile. This looks a similar set up and he’ll enjoy a soft run. Always needs an ounce of luck. GET IN THE QUE has his first start in WA. He was a late scratching at his WA debut when refusing to load and has trialled again. Great placement to slot him back into a C3. ZADAR ROCK was well supported at odds first-up off the back of two quiet yet moderate trials. Should only improve fitness wise. DANCE OF THE SOUTH always consistent. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – JARMAN EACHWAY RACE 9 LORD GANNICUS was plunged in betting first-up and found a lot of bad luck and traffic. Then went into a 3 year old 1400 and over-raced and still did a few things wrong. Paul Harvey jumps aboard third-up and he drops back into a provincial C1. Great race for him. PEARLY NUGGET was a different horse when finding the fence. Expecting her to jump and run again. VISIONS OF GRACE won well on debut and can park on the back of Pearly Nugget. YARRALEA caught them napping last start in a slowly run maiden. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – LORD GANNICUS WIN RACE 10 FOREST WAR returned to Northam and returned to the winner’s circle last start. Was only a 4 horse field and was only a moderate C5 event, however, he gets a wonderful opportunity to go back to back and win again. Should be a genuine speed and with the confidence of a W to his name he can go on with it now. MICHELADA trialled nicely and this is winnable for her. On paper this is the kind of meeting that Patrick Carbery could put in a headlock. ROCKIN’ RUPERT is double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. Capable in either event. QUEENSHIP has a sharp turn of foot on her. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – FOREST WAR WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 8,9,10 1,2,3,4,6 6,7,8,9 1,3,4 Market Market
