Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on July 29, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 DRAMA FREE looks to have found his race. Has had 12 opportunities to break through and continually looms into races without quite finishing off. This is only a 6 horse field, he is drawn to do no work in the box seat and comes from what could prove a strong form reference depending on how Don’t Show Me Up goes on Wednesday at Belmont. CAPE REIGN joins a new stable and was nosed out by Once Were Lost last preparation. Might need further but should still run well. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN looked much better at trials this preparation compared to last campaign. RUN FOR GOLD tried hard on debut. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – DRAMA FREE WIN Race 2 FAIROUGE ran fourth on debut behind Paris Report, Modern Times and Goodbyefeds before being nailed on the post by Come Right Back at her second start when beating home Beat the Bro. Those are clearly strong enough form lines and from the gate she should settle over the top of the speed. CRASH HAT LADY finds a new home with Kieran McDonagh and she raced exclusively in strongly run races last preparation. Myriad gear changes and a weak maiden, could be a winning start for the new yard. MARLINI doesn’t have great numerical form to her name but ran quite well a few times last prep. FAIRER AMERICA beaten out of sight last two but an improver in this. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – FAIROUGE WIN Race 3 MR DELEGATOR is now a month between runs and has been nominated, accepted and scratched a few times in the short campaign but expecting him to find the front and run them into the ground. Steps up to a mile which looks suitable and he should prove very hard to run down. SUN CHACEN is clearly better suited back into maiden company. RAPITORIO is building towards a better run. LOVE STRIKES is knocking on the door but seems to find excuses and one better each start. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 11 – 9 Suggested Bet – MR DELEGATOR WIN Race 4 UNCANNY TIMING resumes off the back of an impressive trial win. First full preparation with Colin Webster and he has looked like a horse who is capable of winning a few races. From the draw should stalk the speed and could well be a winning return to the saddle for Troy Turner. UNIVERSAL PLEASURE has been teasing punters all preparation and promising to win one. Her debut effort chasing Sweetassa was impressive, got nosed out by the Singing Tiger at her second start, was a little luckless third up when stepping to 1300m and finished off hard from off the speed in a metro maiden at her most recent. Hard to knock any of her form. LA CHIAVE should get every favour. UNIVERSAL ANGEL has been scratched five times now without making her debut. Clearly working through some issues. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – UNCANNY TIMING WIN Race 5 LIL RED BIKINI is never far from the winner. In the fairly lengthy preparation boasts minor placings to talented types like Son of a God, Star Glitter, Schoolhouse Rock, Firesale, Costa Del Santo and most recently Dark Mission. That form could prove very strong with Put a Spell On You a Saturday winner and Pletto likely to be short on Wednesday at Belmont. No excuse from the draw. PERCEIVE has been better than the last two runs look on paper. Draws a gate for Chris Parnham to have her where ever he wants in running and she has a turn of acceleration. LEADING MAN has caught the eye at two runs back. LADIES OF LONDON won well fresh but this is deeper. Numbers: 7 – 14 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – LIL RED BIKINI WIN Race 6 DOUBLE SPICE had to do it tough but was still too strong first-up. The second horse (My Hidden Journey) then ran out of his skin in a Saturday behind Captain Kink and beat home Levitate. From the draw he does no work and should prove the testing material. MIRROR MOON was a big first-up winner and then flat as second-up when failing to fire a shot. DIAMOND TRADE tries her hardest and from the draw gets the run of the race. HOTHAM VALLEY draws a gate and all of his form is super consistent. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE SPICE WIN Race 7 STORMY RULER won soft at this track two starts ago before stepping into midweek metro company. Didn’t seem to go as well for the 3kg claiming apprentice so reuniting with Chris Parnham can’t be underestimated. Query at the mile but going well enough to bounce back. FORGOTTEN JEWEL is undefeated after 3 and is a great pick up ride for Lucy Warwick at her return to the saddle. Expecting him to march across from out deep and be allowed to stride. THE ESCORT and WEE RIPPER are both going well and both can play a part at odds. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 6 – 12 Suggested Bet – STORMY RULER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,6 2,6,7,14 2,3,8,10,11,12 3,5 Market Market
