Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on August 14, 2019August 14, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 BLACK CHIPS falls into his most winnable race after returning from a long absence from the track. He might get under the guard here and from the draw gets every chance. THREADS OF IVEY was scratched to be saved for this and is knocking on the door for another win. ROCKFORD LEGEND won a weak maiden but meets a weak C1 field. VAGABOND BOY was given a peach by Pike last start. Draws to do it tougher here. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – BLACK CHIPS WIN Race 2 HENTY LASS loomed into the race before being chopped out completely first-up. Draws soft and if reproducing the effort should be finishing close to the winner. ELLIE’N’PINK has been trialing well at Lark Hill and gets in with a postage stamp weight as a new season 3 year old filly. KAKAZI lead on debut and gave cheek. SEA LAKE hasn’t shown a deal at the races but the trial before this campaign was excellent. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – HENTY LASS WIN Race 3 BORN TO TRY was backed as if unbeatable on debut and was unable to reel in the leader. Should be naturally improved for the outing and the trial effort and debut effort show that she will be winning plenty of races. YAMATAI has only had the one trial at Lark Hill but it was hard not to be impressed. The time was slow but she did it well. PUCKAPUNYAL will need further than this but can give cheek on debut. HAYSTACKS was not disgraced on debut. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – BORN TO TRY WIN Race 4 KRISTELLA caught the eye first-up down the Pinjarra straight in a race where the first four across the line all look like winning races sooner rather than later. Draws awkwardly but looks to have some level of ability. SWEET GIRL is yet to be placed in 8 attempts but this race does lack depth and she is going well enough. AL CAPITANO draws wide but is rock hard race fit and has put in some nice runs since joining John Jackmann’s stable. TALENT SCHOOL likely crosses them to lead and can definitely win. Numbers: 9 – 12 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – KRISTELLA EACHWAY Race 5 BRAVE CALL has been very good at three of his last four and the only race which looks poor on paper he settled rearward in a slowly run affair. Looks like he will eat up the ground and draws a gate to sit closer in running. BOOTLEG RASCAL was getting going late at his first attempt over the trip. Can improve again. TOP TRADE looks like he will need 2200m but can sprint well fresh. SUN OF THE SUN should cross them to lead. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – BRAVE CALL WIN Race 6 METRO BOY is certainly not the most genuine of conveyances and his last 50m gives punters a heart attack but he drops in grade, backs up off 5 days from Saturday and has Noske back in the saddle. If he is going to win another it is this. CITICHANT draws to lead and will take catching. SHE’S VITAL is always a winning chance when she can get in with no weight. SMART FOX box seats but runs into a couple of nice C5 animals. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – METRO BOY WIN Race 7 PEARLS FROM HEAVEN went well fresh and the extra 100m will assist. She will get out over ground but should be able to sprint past them second-up and go through the grades. HIGHFRIAR comes from the same race and caught the eye. FINGERMARK scratched from Saturday to be saved for this. ARTIE’S JEWELS was beaten out of sight on a sticky track last start. Can improve. Numbers: 5 – 12 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – PEARLS FROM HEAVEN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,9,10,12 1,5 1,2,3,4,5,6 4,5,12 Market Market
