Scott Embry’s Thursday Mount Barker Preview Posted on February 16, 2022February 17, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SNEAKY FOX has been building and building into the campaign. No luck at all last Thursday at Albany when caught wide and working throughout. Thought he still finished off well and with even luck can go close here. GORGEOUS GINGER is going along alright. Improving at each outing and drawn to get forward into a nice enough spot. GOLDEN LULLABY has been trialling up well and Neville Parnham takes her to Mt Barker on debut to try and get her off to a flyer. Couldn’t go with Lindram Walter late in the recent trial but he looks above average from a maiden lens. BROADWAY BRENDA has had a lot of trials but the most two recently were behind a pair of handy types. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet – SNEAKY FOX WIN RACE 2 LACEVINSKY started the campaign off with a bang winning a 70+ at Narrogin and a 70+ at Albany. Since then has recorded back to back minor placings in c70+ and m58+ grade before finishing only 2L off Scandolo and Express Time and then running well enough down the straight on a Saturday. Back to Mt Barker, back to his right grade and into a small field. REBEL YELL was plunged in betting after a solid outing in the Fitzpatrick Plate. Was no match for white hot mare Alcina but this is another great opportunity to break thorgh again. SIR SNUGALOT gets 5kg weight relief with Luke Campbell’s claim and the lead is up for grabs. Jump and run. SWEET SBUTTY hasn’t fired a shot yet in WA. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – LACEVINSKY WIN RACE 3 FLOAT OUR BOAT joined Ryan Hill’s yard at his most recent outing and was $10 into $6.50 late in betting. It was an astute move as he tested handy filly Feels Danish and beat home the other fancied 3 year old in Zero Consequences. Bradley Parnham makes the rare trip to Mt Barker and that could be an indication of intent. Comes out running to find a spot. FEELS HOT was a big improver last week and drops 3.5kg with Luke Campbell’s claim. Either holds out Float Our Boat or box seats. REBEL MAN is on the back-up and the one paced type has been consistent of late running placings to Hoist The Colours and Catchya Catchya. STRAITE AND NARROW is a lightly raced 3 year old who looks like he will stay all day. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – FLOAT OUR BOAT WIN RACE 4 DEEL RED put in a shocker last start when finishing 9L off the winner at Esperance, however, he did have 60.5kg and did settle right over the top of the speed in a race where they went silly in the early and middle stages. First 1400m was run 15L faster than average and those animals just can’t absorb that pressure. Form around The Cat Ratcher is strong for Esperance form lines and last time he went to Albany he finished a narrow second to Eurasia. Measures up. BLACKWATER BAY is always popular in the market. Always promised to burst onto the scene and go through the grades but yet to fully produce. EURASIA is going well and SJ Wolfe elects not to claim and carry the full 61kg. LOSING TICKET simply loves Barker and can never be discounted. Took a good mare to shrug her off last Thursday. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – DEEL RED WIN RACE 5 ZAC LUVS TO FLY has only won once in his 25 start career but this simply looks the perfect race to win his second. Blinkers go on, Clint Johnston-Porter goes on and he is drawn an ideal gate. Comes out of a c1 at Belmont behind Rulelee and Find Your Man and prior to that a C3 and 58+ in the metro area. Maps a treat and looks very hard to beat. UNIVERSAL ANGEL hasn’t been seen at the races for 471 days. Won a trial last Thursday at Albany and if anyone can produce them off that sort of long spell it’s Roy Rogers. CITY RANSOM is racing well in Esperance and this is not a deep race. CALBANESCO turned back the clock last start for a big win. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – ZAC LUVS TO FLY WIN RACE 6 GOKU should be hard to beat dropping into a C2 at Mt Barker. First-up finished second behind Sea Waif in a C3 at Pinjarra over 1300m and then finished only 3L off Kick A Goal Son at Pinjarra. Went around favourite last start at Belmont and didn’t fire a shot and has since been given a freshen by Robin Elliot. Trrusting she has him back to his best and if he reproduces the first-up or second-up runs he’s hard to beat. GETYOURMONEYANDRUN has turned a corner and is flying for Paul Hunter. Took a big step from maiden grade last time out and showed he’ll be winning again very soon. BAYBIZARRE is the unknown first-up. Shown above average ability to date. GINGER GREEN is drawn a tough gate and is very green and raw. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – GOKU WIN RACE 7 COLD AS COLD can be a little bit hard to catch but on his day he is a handy galloper for this grade. Four starts ago was enormous in a C5 behind I Am Spartacus and then last start travelled the winner throughout to stop the winning sequence of Warzachantz in Esperance. Natasha Faithful rides #1 for Helen Hardin and would seem to have chosen him over Another Demon and we’ll follow that lead. LLESSUR has a senior rider bac k on and did win a C3 at Pinjarra three starts ago before behind far from disgraced behind Eeyore Wayz and Phanta the next outing. ANOTHER DEMON pinched a 58+ at Esperance two starts ago sitting on speed. Should get to a similar position in running here. HIGHFRIAR maps to get the same run as he did when winning last time out. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – COLD AS COLD WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,5 1,3 2,3,5,6 1,3,5,7,8,9,10 Market Market
