Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on October 18, 2022October 20, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TIME STANDS STILL only won a 46+ first-up at Belmont (Toodyay) but she did it in style by over 3L letting rip with a big turn of acceleration. Went to a Westspeed Platinum on opening day at Ascot and finished off hard behind Tinsnip and Hechard against the pattern. Gets in with only 54.5kg after the claim for Victoria Corver and has returned a different mare this time in. BE SEATED was plunged first-up and narrowly missed. Scored impressively second-up. Hard to hold out. ROEY CLAM can kick through and lead and gets things his own way. MIETTE STAR sits up on the speed. WA Debut. Watch the market. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – TIME STANDS STILL WIN RACE 2 EXCHANGE RATE is a Peters Investments 3 year old on debut. Has tactical speed and can kick through into a prominent position. Should get every chance. Won a 400m jump out, solid effort behind Starry Heights over 950 and then third trial was wide throughout and working. Only 54kg after the claim. CHARCOAL CHAOS went close last start in a maiden handicap at York. Prior to that had been battling away solidly in provincial maidens at Northam. ENDURING MEMORY finds a new home in the Mid West and covered the ground nicely in her Geraldton trial. HOLY SPY has a tricky gate but has come back well. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – EXCHANGE RATE WIN RACE 3 WOJTEK looks the horse to beat in this 1400m maiden. Third behind Central Force and Classic Encounter, fourth behind Classic Encounter and Boy Blue and looks to have found the most suitable grass assignment of his career to date. Peta Edwards should be able to roll to the top and control the race. Ready to win. BRISANCE trialled well leading into his return. BOBALONG BOB didn’t handle dirt racing. Could be an improver on the grass. COLOUR ME SON is a long time maiden but this is winnable. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – WOJTEK WIN RACE 4 DARK PEAK resumed without a trial in the Ladies Day Sprint when finishing a narrow second to Chix Chatter. Prior to that Chix Chatter had finished second to Real Grace so it looks the logical form reference. Should only improve second-up and provided she can get a half decent run from a tricky draw then she’ll be thereabouts. CHOIX DE LACE jumps and runs. Should be suited by the Geraldton style of racing and can prove hard to run down. THE SINGING TIGER is the class runner. Gordon Spowart’s have all been going well fresh. ADMIRAL HUSSON will look to cross Choix De Lace early. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – DARK PEAK WIN RACE 5 SOFIA’S SYMPHONY is very well placed by the Pearce Brothers into this Country C1. Was a luckless fourth behind Choice Bid in a C1 at Belmont three starts ago, finished 3L off Saintorio and Saloon Bar in a 3 year old Plate two starts ago and then most recently finished 3L off Stellar Vista (subsequent C3 winner) when held up on straightening. Nice race for her with the senior going back on. YES MISS JANE won well on opening day and is a lightly raced mare on the rise. GLASS OFF was super behind Silver Bo in a C2. PRIMITIVE will look to run and stun again. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SOFIA’S SYMPHONY WIN RACE 6 YANGTZE RAPIDS never saw daylight first-up. Brandon Louis had nowhere to go and he looked to be bolting behind heels. Got out with 50m to go and was still beaten less than a length. He looked like he would have nearly won with clear air and now Troy Turner jumps aboard. No surprise to see him bounce back here. ANNA’S BOY will have plenty of admirers and understandably so after a huge effort in a Westspeed Platinum when wide and working throughout. Brave effort. ARABIAN RICHES was plunged in betting fresh. DOOWAHDIDDY completely turned her form upside down last start. Horses for courses. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – YANGTZE RAPIDS WIN RACE 7 CORN COB was the target of relentless backing last start when heavily commissioned from an opening quote of $4.60 into a $2.10 SP. Enjoyed the run of the race and got the job done. Probably didn’t win like a good thing but he was back to somewhere near his best. 59.5kg is an ask but he’s going to enjoy another gun run tracking the speed. See no reason why he can’t win his 8th race at the GTC. JUPITER RISING has come back to racing in sensational form. Gets weight off Corn Cob and tracks into it three back the fence. Sees daylight and can flash at them. SUN POWER should only strip fitter for the outing. THREE SESSIONS has Peta Edwards riding 54kg and can improve sharply. Numbers: 4-7-11-12 Suggested Bet – CORN COB WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,5 1,4,5,6,7,8 2,3 3,7 Market Market
