Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on October 19, 2021October 19, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DISENGO looks like extending the powerful run of Adam Durrant at Geraldton. Third in a 2 year old midweek race behind Baldalera Beau and Guard The Safe before a third in a 2 year old Saturday race behind Guard the Safe and Great Fortune. Spelled, returned, trialled twice and strikes a weak Geraldton maiden. MELWOOD COAST has always shown a level of ability. The first-up run was strong and this is weaker. ENGLISH BAY caught the eye on debut behind Pale Rider and Champagne Dame. Unsuited in a sit-sprint last Wednesday and Buzzoom went on to win a Saturday. Only 51kg and back a mile in class. ARTIE has the senior back on and should position up. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – DISENGO WIN RACE 2 DOOWAHDIDDY absolutely bolted in at Toodyay. Huge query on the quality and depth of the race she comes from as a form reference but hopefully she can put it all together and start to string a few wins. Always shown ability, always shown a turn of acceleration and just struggled for consistency. Fingers crossed for connections that this is the preparation. BILLY JACK has raw ability but still does a fair bit wrong. Second start for the new yard and a set of winkers added to gear. SLY AS A FOX was huge first-up and simply run off his legs second-up. Nice race for him. RIO ROGUE may need further but can stick on. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – DOOWAHDIDDY WIN RACE 3 PATCHWORK has Jordan Turner riding 54kg at Geraldton. That might be a good push in itself as he trialled the filly and follows her up the Highway with Martin Allan’s team. Was ridden quietly in her first trial and hit the line and then at her second trial with a set of shades on showed a short sharp burst of speed and the first two kicked right away from the rest of them. Looks a winnable race for her on debut. YUNA MAILMAN is the obvious danger and if Victoria Corver holds the front that might be the difference. Only run down in the shadows at Toodyay. BE SEATED ran well last start. IVONIC will need luck from the draw. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – PATCHWORK WIN RACE 4 SOME SORT has to carry 61kg and will have to burn early to cross from the outside gate so he may be left vulnerable late but his race form is super for these c70+ races. First-up last campaign in a 66+ in town finished third beaten a length by Amasenus and Creator. Second-up ran third in another 66+ behind Glasgow Girl and Angelic Miss. After that the wheels fell off. Looks a fresh horse and trialled nicely. HUMAN NATURE was excellent at his WA debut and Sean Rains looks like he’s got his hands on another handy former Eastern States galloper. STARTRADE is the weight horse down the bottom. Absolutely flying and if they overcook it, he will be coming hard late. SWEET SNITTY was an alarming drifter at his WA debut and ran accordingly. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – SOME SORT WIN RACE 5 SAN LE SOU is the kind of mare who you always get a run out of fresh. Her recent trial under a junior rider was sound and from the draw she should be afforded every chance by CJP. 1100m is on the short sider for her but if she can stay within striking distance she gets a good look at them first-up. SUN POWER finds a new home and Adrian Tiver does a super job with his small team. Trialled like a bomb and takes running down. FOXHOOD was a model of consistency last preparation and from the draw gets every conceivable. HERITAGE SASH is well placed back in grade and gets in with a winnable weight after the claim. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SANS LE SOU WIN RACE 6 SAVAGE ONE won like a horse about to go through the grades in the country or be competitive back at Ascot in the midweekers or weaker Graduation type races. Only got going in the last 100m and then powered away in the concluding stages. Overall race time was 3L faster than average and that should make him very popular in the market and very hard to beat here. Improving type worth following. WARM ‘N’ FUZZY was no match for him late in the same race. Gets 2kg to close the gap. AURMAN ZOU has come back to racing well. FASCINATION brings dirt form but can skip along the fence. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – SAVAGE ONE WIN RACE 7 RAIN GOD looks the winner on paper. Second first-up with 60kg at Belmont, second second-up with 60.5kg at Belmont and then was well supported on Kalgoorlie Cup Day in a re-handicapped 60+ Graduation when finishing fourth but less than half a length off the winner. Back to C1, back to 59.5kg after the claim for Jett Stanley and this race is thin. If Stanley can kick through to lead it might be lights for opponents. QUAN won well at his WA debut. May be looking for further. PASSPORT won well at Geraldton back in April and resumes without a trial. ZANGIEF is drawn awkwardly but showed a turn of foot at Bunbury when sitting back. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – RAIN GOD WIN RACE 8 MEGADON and STARORIO both love Geraldton racing and both should fight out the finish of the last. MEGADON dropped back to 1200m last start and was always destined to be chasing throughout in a race which contained Kenyluck. Did a great job to finish as close as he did and now stepping back out to a mile gets his chance to break through. Gets 1kg on Starorio from their recent encounter. STARORIO beat him home at the opening meeting and can definitely do so again. Great bread and butter mare. RUBY’S LEGACY can work to the top here. Big improver at odds. REAL PASSION bombed the start most recently. Forgive. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – MEGADON WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,7 1 1 1,2 Market Market
