Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 27, 2021April 27, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FASCINATION is the perfect type of horse to utilise a 4kg claim on. Tyla Becker has shown the ability to jump and run and Fascination is a different horse when allowed to stride. C3 winner this track and distance, 58+ place getter at 1200m only five starts ago. Worth a speck. XAARMERIT is another ex-Jim Taylor offcast who has done a good job for new connections. Win at Dongara was strong and recent form in tougher races respectable. THE DIVINE WIND certainly doesn’t win out of turn but should go well in this. EVOLUTIONIST is definitely capable if he turns up. There’s two or three of him. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – FASCINATION EACHWAY RACE 2 VOLPE ran third in the Pingrup Cup and then fourth in the Dongara Cup. They’re not form references you’ll normally tip into at a Geraldton meeting but again this is a Yalgoo field. Kept fresh, drawn a gate and can stalk up behind Greco. ILLMATIC will be doing his best if it turns into a last man standing type of assignment. KWIK FANTASY was showing glimpses going back a month ago in stronger staying races than this. GRECO is the class horse of the race and was set a serious task attacking throughout last start. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – VOLPE WIN RACE 3 MYCROFT rises 8.5kg back up to 62.5kg in this c70+ staying event. Was plunged in the Geraldton Cup from $6 into $2.40 and didn’t fire a solitary shot in a bitterly disappointing performance. High weight rider Brad Rawiller gets the ride and he’s always the one to beat in this grade. BLACK MONEY gets a massive weight swing with the claiming apprentice going on. One paced but stays. WILD MEMORIES is the kind of mare who can always out sprint them off a soft run. GALAXY BLAZE likely rolls to the top and gets it cheap. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – MYCROFT WIN RACE 4 REGAL SUN has had two runs for Graeme Hammarquist and both have been strong. First start in the region when back over 1200m and was doing his best late and through the line. Second start sat closer and got within a half of stablemate Passport. Now drawn to box seat or even kick through and lead. TRICKY TRIX never got any clear running for a junior apprentice last start. Senior on. Plenty of admirers naturally. ROBYN’S SON and HAIL CAESAR have both been long time maidens but both ran well last start. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – REGAL SUN WIN RACE 5 HAYSTACKS would have slept well last start. Was punching out deep throughout in a race where they were humming. First 800m of the race was 8L faster than C2 average and she was doing all the work. Massive effort to hold onto fourth. With any luck here she goes close. SLY AS A FOX is a new horse in the care of Kim Anderson. Shades are reattached and from the draw he should be given every chance by Kennedy and is the logical danger. DEVALERA PARK can take luck out of the equation and lead. BANDALERA MISS does no work and is the blowout. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – HAYSTACKS WIN RACE 6 SIGNIFICANT HERO simply got too far out of his ground last start in a race where they ran along throughout and he was unable to get over them from the position he settled in. Lost no admirers and with the premier hoop of the region Troy Turner making a riding appearance for Tony Scally he looks the one. AEROLITE reunites with Kate Southam. They broke their maiden together back in May of 2020 and she can come out running. ADMIRAL HUSON is jump and run. I HOPE YOU DANCE looks like a handy acquisition for Catherine Godden. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – SIGNIFCANT HERO WIN RACE 7 BITOVEMU looks very well placed here by Willie Parker sneaking in on the minimum. Has been up a long while with a freshen in the middle but the effort behind Wildonrbook two starts ago and even behind Startrade at his most recent would see him going close. MIDNIGHT ROCKET hasn’t quite come back the same horse and is probably about on his mark but is worth consideration again with Brad Rawiller going on. SHARPBOB is a metro winner who is a nice ride for Jett Stanley. THE CHORISTER normally runs well at his Geraldton warm up assignments before Carnarvon. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BITOVEMU WIN RACE 8 WILDONBROOK continues to rocket through the grades and those who have stayed loyal to the mare are absolutely filling the pockets. She is going from strength to strength and is versatile. Can lead, can chase and from the inside draw Victoria Corver can do as she pleases. Rises 1.5kg but the way she’s going it’s hard to see a reason why she wouldn’t be winning again. STARTTHEFRAIR will need luck but the first-up run was a ripper. QUALITY FAIR is always a chance in these races. Better suited back to 1400. BOMBAY STYLE is a super country horse. Gives 100% and carried the grandstand last time out. Numbers: 6 – 11 – 3 – 3 Suggested Bet – WILDONBROOK WIN RACE 9 STARTRADE is again dealt a bitter blow at the barriers but if they’re making ground at Geraldton he is the progressive horse going through the grades. Has a big turn of acceleration and last start on a track which didn’t suit him at all he was enormous in review. LUKE’S CHOICE has found traffic or bad luck at almost every run for Bruce Kay. Enter Brad Rawiller. BUSH ICON was left a sitting duck in a race that was turned into an ugly sit sprint after they absolutely walked in the middle stages. INVINCIBLE WARRIOR has been excellent at two runs in. Number: 2 – 4 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,82,3,4,6,9,113,4,6,112,3,4,6,7,10,14 Market Market The Black Hearts are WA’s team in The Racing League – the world’s first horse racing league.
