Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on September 16, 2025September 16, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 VIVALDA was given a really quiet trial at Belmont Park on 18 August and then went into a strong maiden on debut splitting Eternal Wine and subsequent winner True Fiction. Had to dart back towards the inside in the home straight as well to make her run and second-up with an extra 100m to wind up looks really hard to beat. TABBA TABBA BOOM ran third (elevated to second) behind Xentaro at Northam and then was less than 3L off a pair of really nice horses in Fine Star and Win For Buster in a 3 year old 0MWLY second-up. CONCHETTAS DREAM won her trial like a filly who would be running a big race on debut. HOLLER NUFF was backed as if unbeatable at Pinjarra on debut. Since spelled and trialled well. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – VIVALDA WIN RACE 2 ETERNAL WINE was given a quiet trial behind Rock Fest before being put through her gears at Lark Hill and letting down with a strong turn of foot. In the last fortnight we’ve seen two Michael Lane debutantes in Eternal Wine and Tip The Boss and both look to have really bright futures. Straight out to 1400m and the form is on show with Vivalda in Race 1. Looks a Saturday filly in the making. GOLDEN KATHLEEN is really hard to place being a m62 rater as a C1 mare so Donna Riordan is forced to lump 60kg with her. She’s better than current form suggests. MISSISSIPPI DAWN didn’t fire fresh but is better suited at 1400. MAVIS MYRTLE could lead this and that’s where she broke her maiden from. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – ETERNAL WINE WIN RACE 3 OLD MATE HENRY is screaming out for a set of blinkers and that’s exactly what Steele Casey does here. He loomed large over 1400m behind Line of Thought, a race that has produced two subsequent winners in Manjeri and Startling Star, and then he looked home before Startling Star got the better of him in the shadows. EXQUISITE TASTE was a few lengths back in third on that occasion and may not have been suited by leading, and in review did set some really strong maiden level sections through the middle stages. CLASSIC TURN caught the eye fresh and now drops back into a maiden. DESIGNER LABEL probably needs 2000+. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – OLD MATE HENRY WIN RACE 4 ROLLING RULER has won three of his four barrier trials at Lark Hill and looks / travels like his older brother in Ruler Rocket. In the most recent trial he bolted up to them from three deep the trip and then skipped away when Troy Turner gave him his head. Looks a nice horse. GODS GRIN ran 2L off Swansee and Spank Appeal on debut and then was sent to Geraldton when beaten at a short quote before a spell. Both trials this time in have been really good and the booking of Pike always takes the attention. SPEAK OF THE DEVIL put in two super runs last prep and was only a neck behind Gods Grin in the trial. RARE ELEGANCE is a hard going style of mare so think that the addition of ear muffs is a good move. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – ROLLING RULER WIN RACE 5 WYNN LAS VEGAS is the half brother to undefeated Raconteur Stakes and Belmont Guineas winner Opportunistic and makes his debut at 1400m. He showed the sharpness to win a 950m trial as a 2 year old and his recent trial behind Heeza Phoenix (races at Belmont Wednesday) was excellent when winding up late. Think he’ll be making an impression on debut. EXTREME RULER is unfortunately no Ruler Rocket or Rolling Ruler. He did love getting back onto the grass last start though in a much improved performance. HIGH REEL looks like she’ll need every inch of 1400. NEAP TIDE is extremely one paced. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – WYNN LAS VEGAS WIN RACE 6 MISS WALL STREET is double accepted for Wednesday at Belmont and Thursday at Bunbury. Happy to put her on top in both races and see which way Mack Hall elects to go. Defied the pattern at Kalgoorlie to win and then nearly won a 0MWLY last week at Belmont. She’s flying for the new yard. CLIMB ON TOP wasn’t disgraced in the Coolgardie Sprint. Got a mile out of his ground and attacked the line late. BLAZING EMERALD didn’t fire a shot first-up. She’s right back in grade here. BELLE JOURNEE is a really honest mare who has long preparations and keeps improving (had 16 runs last campaign). Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – MISS WALL STREET WIN RACE 7 WORCESTER looked the winner last start until Sandfire Rose kicked back underneath him (with 8kg less). Loved the effort and he’ll be hard to beat here in another race where he can park up on speed. ONE PUNCH has taken to the Fibre Sand brilliantly with 2 wins and a minor from his three starts on that surface. There will always be a query and an unknown surrounding horses returning to grass but his grass form more than measures up, he split Deferred and Silver Eye one day at Belmont in a 3 year old 0MWLY. WAR MATTERS was 2L off them in a Grad first-up last prep. PRODUCTIVE broke his maiden well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – WORCESTER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2 13 FD 1,2 Market Market
