Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on July 1, 2025July 1, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DISCO KICKS looks the leader in the inaugural Bunbury Sand Fibre (I’m going with Sand Fibre over Fibre Sand – deal with it) and on speed is how I intend to tip/punt until proven otherwise. 1800m is on her limit but roll the top and find out. EXCAVATION made his debut at 1400m on a Soft7 when finishing off into third behind Icandoitonmyown and Dark Avalanche. Interesting to see whether barrier 1 / leader’s back is any good on the synthetic or whether it’s like the dirt and it’s poison. GOLD ENIGMA got through the line nicely last start. METALIC MARLIN is a query at the trip. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – DISCO KICKS WIN RACE 2 PEANUT BUTTER won a trial on the Sand Fibre on 10 February by 2L leading into his debut at Bunbury where he was backed into favourite when finishing second to Something Royal. Hoping that he can leave the gates quick enough to hold a position right up over the speed. MUZZAS GIFT beat him home in their recent 930m Lark Hill back straight trial and there was 3L between them on the post. BARBIELAND is a big watch at her WA debut and there’s a big watch on all the local horses who likely work/use the Sand Fibre. HIDDEN JEWELS can settle up closer coming back in trip. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – PEANUT BUTTER WIN RACE 3 CHASON WINS is speedy and this 950m race should really suit her. She’s drawn inside of fellow speedster Capable Angel but they’re both drawn outside of Beyond The Wall and Kimberley Currency – so this will be on from start to finish. Liked her recent Pinjarra 1000m efforts and hoping that she can cross, or at worst breeze. CAPABLE ANGEL has her first start for new trainer Brandon Fiore and she’s a mare who has run plenty of minor placings and been the target of good backing on occasion. BEYOND THE WALL has always been hump and run but has always paddled late. 950m his go. GDAY BLOKE is his own worst enemy. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHASON WINS WIN RACE 4 THIS’LL SHOW YA won three races last preparation: C1 1000, C5 1000 and C3 1000 and they were all from either leading or breezing. She’s an ideal 3kg claimers filly and expect that Chanel Cooper will be given license to let her run and look to cross. If she can find the fence on the Sand Fibre over 950m she’ll be very hard to run down. PLAY DICE is a more than capable mare and her recent barrier trial was solid. Is a proven weight carrier and proven fresh horse. ON THE FULL has been given a freshen and only two back won a 0MWLY. CRYSTALIST next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – THIS’LL SHOW YA WIN RACE 5 RECONNAISSANCE has had one start as a 2 year old on a Saturday when beaten 4L behind Monte Tremezzo, Storm Away and Just Walter John and had more excuses than Michael Voss defenders after doing things wrong and covering a stack of additional ground. Has been gelded, has trialled super for his return and while a 2 year old against the older horses in a maiden is rare he does look the best horse in the race. THE AGENCY has been thereabouts his entire career and continues to knock on the door. COUPE DEBURJ an improver if leading. AUTHORATIVE was consistent last prep. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – RECONNAISSANCE WIN RACE 6 GIRLS DAY OUT is becoming costly to punters having been beaten at all three runs this preparation. First-up in a 3 year old 0MWLY finished third to Lucky I Am (since second on a Saturday), second-up was beaten by Empress Of India (since won a Westspeed Platinum) and third-up finished second to Coondle. Out to 1200m, 4kg claim for Tiana Murray and should be able to get across. One more chance. SHASFA and LAND OF FIRE are both capable of rolling on their day and they’re both sneaky chances at odds. RIPPER FAROOQ hasn’t lived up to expectation this prep. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – GIRLS DAY OUT WIN RACE 7 LANO led and won a C1 1600 two back and that could just be how to ride him. Last start he couldn’t find the top and wasn’t disgraced in a C5 1600 behind My Idol and Oisin. Back into a C3, drawn alongside fellow speed horse Buckland and hopefully jumps clearly enough to follow him across into a prominent position in running. Playing the speed all day on the Sand Fibre so fingers crossed they kick him out! AYUMI can hold a spot right behind the speed and is lengths better than last start’s effort. BUCKLAND is a non-winner but they’re running for Holly Nottle. STATE OF FURY is quickly building towards another win. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – LANO WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3 1,9 2,8,9 2,3,4,7 Market Market
