Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on November 26, 2025November 26, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EXCEED THE BOOM heads down to join Paul Hunter from Mitchell Pateman and fingers crossed it can be the same result as King Cartel who bolted in for the new stable when transferred race fit and ready to win. The provincial maidens that he is coming through are lengths tougher than this and expect he’ll take holding out. From that Sentimental Legend form reference God’s Grin heads to Geraldton and looks hard to beat and Exceed the Boom heads to Albany and looks hard to beat. ALMOST ARTIE does a bit wrong but is through the same event and sectionally wasn’t that far behind Exceed The Boom. ASTONISHER wasn’t too bad at her second start. SEA OF GALILEE is fit and back in trip. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – EXCEED THE BOOM WIN RACE 2 TIFF’S LAD is really well placed. At his first run for Mitch Pateman he went around in a C5 1300 dominated on speed and hit the line stronger than anything. Four starts later he won a Diggers Cup. He’s 72+ placed first-up and in his older years 1600m is a nice starting spot for him. Winnable. PRAY AGAIN is hard to trust. He has only won 3 from 43, his most recent win was nearly 900 days ago back in June of 2023 (and has since had 26 runs) but his first-up 1L defeat to Lieutenant Dunbar and subsequent 60+ Graduation placed mare Showlas and his half length defeat to in form galloper Our Nemesis clearing out over 4L back to third suggest he’s ready to win. WHY ME was a big improver first-up to second-up. Heads back to Albany, and this 58+ grade looks ideal for him. Should be peaking third-up. MAKIN PROPHETS will appreciate having a senior on. Quirky horse. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – TIFF’S LAD WIN RACE 3 BRAVE WASP finished runner-up in back to back Saturday 2 year old SWP races before being produced firs-tup at Belmont over 1200m when a narrow second to Swing Man. He was sent out $1.40 at his second-up run and something clearly wasn’t right with him, he’s better than being beaten 3.4L in an all age maiden. 2 months later he’s in a Country maiden and if the real Brave Wasp shows up they’re running for second. ZALI’S GIFT finished 1.6L behind Storm Away and subsequent winner Conchetta’s Dream at Belmont last start. Good form for an Albany maiden. AMERICAN QUE TEE is knocking on the door and ran another really strong second at the most recent meeting. Just tough to run into the likes of Brave Wasp and Zali’s Gift. CALATHANITE solid in defeat last start. Numbers: 4 – 13 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – BRAVE WASP WIN RACE 4 BRAVE APACHE was super impressive at his WA debut. He was an 11 start maiden but he absolutely bolted in and looks the kind of galloper that can go through his grades. How good is Indianna Weinert’s team going! OUR NAUGHTY SECRET may find the short course a bit sharp but she’s classy for this grade. FRAPPUCCINO just wants to run. They put in a Stewards notification last start to try and ride him off-speed but it just left poor Troy Turner in a nightmare position and he had to stride forward mid-race. Looks like Raquel Williams has hit the reset button, right back to 1000m and a gear change. CAVILL TYCOON dipped out of the gates and settled further back than anticipated. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – BRAVE APACHE WIN RACE 5 POLYVANOYA was set a serious task last start at York. She was in the breeze, attacking the lead, in a race where the leaders kicked many lengths clear of the remainder of the field. She was left a sitting duck and somehow still managed to finish top 4. Was entitled to be beaten 10L. Can bounce back. NICCI’S AFFAIR was a different horse last start after a mid-prep trial and a step out to 1500m. Led and never looked like being run down. Can she reproduce? WINNING SHUFFLED improved sharply first-up to second-up and wasn’t far off the placegetters in a far tougher C3 event at Belmont. LORDGIVEMESTRENGTH is looking for this trip and even further. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – POLYVANOVA WIN RACE 6 VOMO ISLAND was a nice acquisition for Steve Wolfe’s yard and can race well fresh parked up right over the speed. Beat a nice one in River Rubicon in the trial before the last meeting and that should put him in a good place for his return. HEZANGELIC won a 58+ at Kalgoorlie last preparation after a string of consistent minors. Capable of coming across and being put into the contest in what looks an on speed race. RUN PATTIE RUN is a handy type for this grade but looks destined to conceded them a big head start. PURO was attacking the line really well late in her first-up run. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – VOSMO ISLAND WIN RACE 7 WHAT A PRINCE was a great return to racing at a completely unsuitable 1100m and while this 1200m isn’t much better it looks a race with nearly too much speed and pressure. If Jason Whiting can stay within striking distance the leaders might just be paddling late and he’ll just be hitting top gear. PRETTY DEVINE does love York but this is a really nice race for her on paper as Mack Hall travels down to Albany. She’ll get the company of roughies Some Sort, Resonator, Gift Of The Heart and Storm Commander which is a concern but if Madi Derrick can shake them off in the middle stages she’ll be hard to hold out. FLICK THE SWITCH can sit back and have last crack at them, she’s versatile. STORM COMMANDER was really good at 100-1 at Ascot. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – WHAT A PRINCE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,7 1,2,6 2,3,6,10 3,8,9 Market Market
