Scott Embry’s Sunday York Preview Posted on November 5, 2021November 5, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LADY OF BABYLON looks well suited to breaking through in this lowly 1920 maiden handicap. Fifth first-up when finishing off strongly behind subsequent winners Champagne Dame, Stay Safe and Advanced before finishing fourth in a C1 at Northam. Look like she will stay all day and while Ryan Hill has elected to stick with Paul Jordan and Blue Card, confident that Lady of Babylon is the better chance. JAFETICA and BLUE CARD were both in the same race behind Feels Danish a few starts back and both went ok. KEBALAH was bolting at the turn last start and got held up. If he’s ever going to win one it’ll be in a handicap with 52kg. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – LADY OF BABYLON WIN RACE 2 SILVER BUGG had been getting back and savaging the line at every run this campaign until last start when caught wide without cover throughout and was entitled to fade. Looks ready to win and looks well suited in the maiden handicap conditions with only 55.5kg. Provided she can stay in touch with them in the middle stages she should be finishing off hard. NOBLE SCOT gets 61kg in the handicap conditions, however, the third behind Success Play (subsequent 3yo 0MWLY winner) and Market Stryke reads up well. Should lead from the inside gate and provided he doesn’t wobble too badly on the tight track he should be in the finish. BIGDAYONIT beat home Thomas Magnum in the recent trial and finished alongside My Boy Eddie. Good effort. STAR OF ROSIE is the half sister to Kissonallforcheeks on debut. Got going late in the recent trial. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – SILVER BUGG WIN RACE 3 FOR OUR NIC is another Gary Crispin runner who looks like being hard to beat on these unique styles of track. 15 start maiden but has run second at Narrogin and third at York (in a 46+) showing he is yet another stable representative who loves the outer provincial circuits. For whatever reason Gary’s horses fly at York/Narrogin/Toodyay and the run two starts ago was a ripper, with the recent one solid in a deeper race than this. Gets his chance. YUNA MAILMAN has promised to win a maiden for a long while. With the claim for Holly Watson looks a legitimate danger. MADAME SHIH kept giving at trials. ROYAL GAP actually ran well on debut in a quality 2 year old SWP Saturday race. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – FOR OUR NIC WIN RACE 4 FOO TROUBLE backs up again off 7 days making it his third run in a fortnight but he did run particularly well last weekend at Narrogin in a 58+ when splitting Tampering Falls and Pink ‘n’ Gray. Can definitely argue that this is a weaker field and is in fact a weaker grade (52+). Excellent use of Jett Stanley’s 3kg claim and if he can hold out Choix De Lace early he’s the one to beat. CHOIX DE LACE is being placed really well by Jim Taylor’s yard at the minute. No star but continues to earn a cheque. THE ANVIL returns to York and will look to extend the Gary Crispin dominance of York/Narrogin/Toodyay. METALLIC QUEEN can be hit and miss but on her day she’s got a nice turn of foot as shown at Toodyay. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – FOO TROUBLE WIN RACE 5 TYPE WON absolutely dominated them last week at Narrogin in the last race on the program. Sent to the top by Keshaw Dhurun she was in a race of his own and won by over 2.5L. Probably even better suited at 1100m than she was at 1190m and with the claim for Holly Watson looks like reproducing the performance and the result. Catch me if you can is her style of racing. ELITE TIME is drawn inside of her and has the tactical speed to hold a position. Finished off well enough in a recent trial behind exciting type Nowhiteflag. MAGNUSON MAN has been handballed from stable to stable over the last 6 months. Can’t quite break through but racing consistently. HIGH PRECISION is a hard horse to gauge. Has shown ability at times. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – TYPE WON WIN RACE 6 MAIN ENGINE looks a standout on the Sunday program. Luckless sixth first-up behind Spritely Star and Buzzoom with Spritely Star winning a 60+ and Buzzoom a 3yo 0MWLY, 3yo Grad and a Burgess Queen Stakes since. Last time out stepped into a C3 and finished third behind Champagne Dame. Drops into a 46+, drawn gate 1 and should be far too classy for moderate opposition. QUINTUS likely has a crack for the lead and the fence and from there he is always capable of giving a strong kick. GOD’S BLUE SKYE has had an interrupted start to her Darren Taylor career but expecting improvement. ALEXIS OLYMPIA is going along well. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – MAIN ENGINE WIN RACE 7 PRAYING WITH GOD is two from two undefeated at the York 1920m and looks to have found a very suitable race to extend that run and make it three from three. Rarely would Troy Turner jump off Chris Stelmach’s horses as a regular rider but given the fact that Praying With God ran second in a 0MWLY staying race at Ascot last start you can understand why. Hard to beat provided something can take her into the race. CHOKSLAM is a hard mare to catch but she seems to run for Ryan Hill and this is the kind of race where he can make a tactical decision in the early or middle stages and sum things up. SHECKY’S MATE looks like getting things his own way in front. FAIRDELICIOUS has been building to another win. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – PRAYING WITH GOD WIN RACE 8 ROMAN FLIRT looks the one to beat in the Tabtouch York Cup of 2021. Ben & Dan Pearce probably had the option of three different routes with the mare: 1) York Cup, 2) Apprentices Cup, 3) wait for next week and tackle the Ascot Gold Cup. Given the fact they are able to drag William Pike to York and get the ideal barrier with the vast majority of rivals outside the handicap you’d think on paper they’ll be duly rewarded for their decision to go to this race. In white hot form, maps a treat and should give backers every single opportunity to collect. OUR IDYLL should be about ready to fire third up. ADMIRAL PORMO got caught up in traffic last start and finished off well once getting out. YADREAMIN’ doesn’t have a rider but would be a handy pick-up ride because the mare is ticking over well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – ROMAN FLIRT WIN RACE 9 ROCK’N’RULER brings far stronger overall form to the race than his rivals. Has raced in 60+ Graduation company or thereabouts for the last 12 months and now finds himself dropping back into a c52+ and only carries 54.5kg after the claim for young Taj Dyson. Drawn out deep but has the necessary tactical speed to put himself into a position over the top of the pace and importantly is a previous York winner. Fourth to Celebrity Witness three back, fourth to Ginger Flyer two back. Nice race for him. MINER ADDICTION showed in the first two runs of the campaign that Darren Taylor will be winning a few races with her. RAIN CARD won well when plunged two back at York. Backed it up nicely at Northam. O’SO TEMPTING should land in a lovely position from the inside gate. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – ROCK’N’RULER WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3 1,2,5,7 1 3,5,6,8,11 Market Market
