Scott Embry’s Sunday Toodyay Preview Posted on September 24, 2021September 24, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DESHYNE has shown great speed at the trials. Blinkers on, working across to the breeze or even the fence and from there gets the first sighter of the Toodyay track which can definitely play on fence from year to year. Has paddled late at trials over 1000m so the final furlong might prove the biggest test but has shown sufficient ability to go close on debut. AIN’T I A WOMAN has an early start as E2 and from an inside draw should also be right up and over the top of the speed. Not a bad effort last time out at York. YUNA MAILMAN promised to win races in the Great Southern when last in work. Nice quiet trial. TINY’N’TUFF hasn’t done anything wrong since joining Matt Scott’s yard and should run well. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – DESHYNE WIN RACE 2 HIGHWAY GLORY will definitely not be a popular horse in this event, however, is an alternate view on a wide open race with a stack of speed drawn wide. Didn’t seem to really go a yard in the dirt at Carnarvon so we go back to the grass performances. Last time on grass and around a corner, was in a C3 at $9 when finishing only 3L off Tinto Belle and was luckless in that event too. Could surprise a few of these. CLEVE’S WATCHING likewise could be a big price on opening. 9 year old who hasn’t won a race in yonks but the Lark Hill trial leading into last preparation was super and Brad Graham brings him here first-up, no trial this campaign. DIRTY DOT wasn’t disgraced in a tougher race last time out. CHOIX DE LACE will need to do it at both ends this time after getting away with it cheap at York. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – HIGHWAY GLORY & CLEVE’S WATCHING WIN RACE 3 BLAZING PASSION looked like she was going to get there the entire length of the straight at York but little old Friar’s Fancy just kept kicking. Connections threw a protest in for the interference caused at the 500m but it was in vain. Looks like getting the perfect run here in and should be going very close to bouncing back. TAMPERING FALLS will look for the front and Taj Dyson should get there. From the front it’s an excellent use of the 4kg claim. Can ride. KLONDIKE KENNY and WOODBUG both come from Carnarvon racing. They’re both incredibly deep into the campaign but Dennis Couper keeps them going. If he has the bucket hat on he means business. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BLAZING PASSION WIN RACE 4 TAXI wasn’t actually that bad last start at York. Finished 7th beaten 5.5L but showed a little something up the fence. Bob McPherson goes for a set of shades, a senior rider and a 46+ instead of a 52+. Chokslam, Upward Others, All Man and Celebrity Witness would all go round a short price favourite in this and Taxi might be forgotten in the market. (Might also be no good but we’ll find out Sunday). HARD TOO CEE made solid ground first-up at an unsuitable trip. Seems to thrive on these tight cornered tracks like Toodyay, York and Narrogin. SHIVERS OF JOY is racing well and could nearly find the front in this. MACAVITY has form in far stronger races than this. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – TAXI WIN RACE 5 ADMIRAL PROMO looks well placed into the Toodyay Cup by Sue Olive. First-up, no trial finished third behind Call Again and then second-up ran into the same galloper in a race which was dominated from the front. Finished alongside talented mare Roman Flirt. Going back only four starts ago at 1800m at Ascot he finished third behind Temptacion and Marocchino. Reproduces that run and he’s the one to beat. FINAL CHILL will have a lot of weight in the saddle of Taj Dyson. MRW 52.5kg, 59kg impost, you do the math. Not an easy horse to ride and gets pulling. Interesting to see how he handles him and whether he makes the customary mid-race move. OMBUDSMAN is an out and out stayer who will be up for the fight. DIPLOMAT EXPRESS was better last start. Keep safe at odds. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – ADMIRAL PROMO WIN RACE 6 ZEEWIJK put the writing on the wall last start. Lead them running in a 1400m maiden at Ascot when finishing only 1L off Hoover, Red Hot Hope and Atlantis Beach. That’s excellent form for a race of this nature and with the style of racing at Toodyay, if Beaux Edwards finds the front he’ll having them chasing a fair way out. BUCKEYE BULLET went close on a few occasions last campaign at Geraldton. First-up, no trial, Martin Allan might be on a hit and run mission. ETHICAL SECRET was a complete forgive run last start. All prior maiden form and runs were excellent. NORICH will come across and is going well. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – ZEEWIJK WIN RACE 7 HIGH MIST resumed at Belmont in a far tougher race than this. Wasn’t horrendous when beaten 5L by Jaguar Grey, Beret, Lordhelpmerun, Agent Kensington and co. This is a far more suitable race for the old boy and from the draw Kyra Yuill should be able to give him every chance of turning back the clock and recording another victory. SPIRIT OF PROPHECY is drawn horribly but the last two runs have been highly encouraging. Looks to be going well enough to win this with even luck. ALLURING is always competitive in this grade and can kick through to hold a position. FROSTY BAY a mad one who could improve 10L out of nowhere back on the grass. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – HIGH MIST EACHWAY RACE 8 I’M ICEY found one of these 46+ races at York when last in work and was a deadest rated certainty. Went around $2.60 and won by 2.5L soft. Not convinced he’s going anywhere near as well this preparation but he is still well placed by Neville Parnham. Only four starts ago in a 60+ finished 1.5L off Jag The Joker and Ohbeeh. Looks the one to beat. DOOWAHDIDDY showed glimpses when last in work. Capable of winning more than just a C1 on talent. WELD brings the Roebourne and Port Hedland form. Last grass effort was a fast finishing and eye catching fourth in a 54+. BLACK SMUGGER finished off nicely fresh. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – I’M ICEY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4,6,81,4,5,91,2,4,5,6,102,6,7 Market Market
